I've never installed anything like this. When my ice maker stopped working, my first instinct was to call a repairman or buy a whole new refrigerator. My boyfriend used to install refrigerators for Lowes, and he said that this would be a simple repair. Water and electricity was still getting to the ice maker unit, so I didn't have to deal with those issues. After researching model numbers, I determined that this unit would fit my refrigerator. (But I made sure that there was a great return policy --- just in case!) I removed the old unit by taking out one screw and simply unplugging the electrical cord. The new unit went in just as easily, and was making ice within 30 minutes. I did call the customer service rep before ordering to confirm that this unit would fit my refrigerator, and he told me that I didn't want this unit -- it was designed for a refrigerator that was factory ready, but didn't include a pre-installled ice maker. He was kind enough to refer me to another company that was willing to sell me just the unit that goes inside the freezer BUT it cost a great deal more for that part. So I have the "extra" pieces (the water supply pieces, ice bin, ...) but I got what I needed for a smaller price! [...]

[...] The Maytag UK11500/ice maker works great for my 1995 Amana top freezer/ refrigerator. This part can replace original Amana parts# D7824706Q/626639. The only thing I needed was to switch the harness (the set of four wires in different colors with connector) from my old ice maker. I didn't use the metal wire that came with the unit for different level of storing ice cubes. The plastic handle gets in the way. I replaced with my old metal wire. The lager rubber tube that feeds water to the ice maker was not long enough( short 2-3") and had to use my old one. Easy to install and I did have a little bit of problem with my water line to the refrigerator. I have high water pressure and didn't turn my water valve all the way and was getting some hallow half moon ice cubes. [...] After turning the water valve up, it works like a champ. I read most of the reviews to educate myself to find the right part. These reviews helped me a great deal and also talking to Abt Appliance gave me the assurance to order the ice maker. The best price in town !!!

Awesome icemaker very easy to install,very simple instructions for installation.Works great the adjustment for how much ice is to be made is a great feature, especially for if you don't use much ice.
ABT was a very easy web site to use finding the wright one to order and ordering the icemaker and fast deliver and cheap price. Mom wanted this for Mothers Day. So I ordered it six days before Mothers Day and arrived fast I installed it in less then 45 Minutes. Voila there was ice cubes the next morning. My mom has arthritis in her hands, so Mom no more cracking ice trays for you.

Replacement to an existing ice maker. No problems with the install. Considerably easier than I expected. Makes me wish I did it sooner. Worst part was cleaning up the mess behind the fridge when I pulled out the fridge. There were not mounting screws with mine but not a big deal as I just used the ones from the last ice maker. Works just like the one that I had installed by our local dealer the day we bought our freezer/fridge combo. This was an after market add on and typically not covered under warranties. My old unit just stopped working and this one is 1) one power cord in the back wall..just unplug it after you remove the 3 screws in the wall of the freezer. 2) comes with the rest of the entire kit if you need it.When I called local Maytag dealer they claimed "not in stock" and over [$]. Works just like the one that it replaced after 23 years. Fantastic price. Would definitely buy again from this seller. There was a hitch, the electrical connector fit but would not click in. Investigation showed it was wrong sex. Had to splice on old connector, then it worked like a charm!
When the connector would not work, I feared even Amana/Maytag would offer no support. I called Abt and was connected to the technical specialist who told me to splice on old connector being careful to match wire colors, which, by the way, were in a different order compared to the old icemaker. Colors matched except for one had red where the other was black. No problem.

I had an Admiral/Maytag refrigerator that I could not match up the model to, but thankfully ABT included pictures of the connector plug which made me reasonably confident this would be compatible. Worked like a charm.
Delivery was very quick, just 2 days. Product was not packaged very well inside the much larger outer box and some Styrofoam pieces protecting the ice maker were broken off from bouncing around. Luckily the ice maker itself was fine.

Received it today, Tried to install in an Amana, vintage ~1990. Could not plug it in. The plug looked the same as the old one, but the pins of the receptacle in the fridge had the same sex as those of the new plug. Cut the cord of the old, defective unit, and the cord of the new unit, spliced the old plug and pig tail to the new unit. Wire colors match except the black on the old unit is now red. ( I know electric circuits and can handle tools). Appears to work, produced the first batch of ice.

Our Maytag refrigerator is only about 6 years old. We use an inline water filter that is occassionally replaced. When the icemaker stopped working (leaked, then heater element failed), I pulled the icemaker (3 screws and unclip the electricity connector). Once the icemaker thawed, it was AMAZING how bad it smelled. Putting it in the garage stunk up the garage. Years of water slime accumulates on the icemaker surface. This is where your freezer stink comes from. For [$], I can afford to replace my icemaker every 5 years and plan to do so!

My ice maker started leaking, went on line and purchased this unit. It was just a matter of loosening 2 screws, removing one, taking out the old ice maker and putting in the new one. I replaced and tightened all the screws, viola it started producing ice.

This ice maker kit was perfect.Looks to be identical fit to my original.As others have posted I did use my originalwiring harness as the new one was short.Entire job took less than 5 minutes to replace.The kit price was cheaper than any other companies price for main ice maker alone.[...]

Absolutely wonderful product. Very easy to follow directions and a perfect fit. Everything was included for the refridgerator. All I had to buy was the tap on the main supply line and the hose to the refridgerator.

The icemaker arrived promptly with all parts required and with all parts in excellent condition. Following the directions, the install went smoothly.
The only challenge, not addressed in the trouble shooting section of the directions, is the subtle problem of where to set the water supply needle valve (needle valve not included). Too much pressure results in water spilling out of the tray leaking into the bottom of the fridge, too little pressure results in hollow ice cubes.

Have installed three of these with no problems.
Many individual parts cost much more than the whole kit. I installed one kit as an exact replacement. The other two were used in lieu of the exact replacement for the cost savings. Rewired the plug on one and rerouted the water feed on the other.

Looking for a replacement ice maker kit for an older Admiral (sold by Wards). Unable to find any information about the specific model number but did see a similar ice maker at a local hardware/lumber store (this Maytag PN).
On receipt, found the ice maker mechanisim to be the exact duplicate of the old one differing only in the electrical connecting plug. Able to use the old plug without difficulty. Suggest that photos be added to detail the plug assembly.
Price was very right.
Very happy with the results.

Everything was easy to assemble. There was only one thing that I ran into was the main supply line was not in the package and I had to buy it. That would be better for the customer if there was nothing else for them to buy but your item.
