I bought this range in February of 2010. It looks great in my kitchen. The first time I tried to use self clean the range overheated and blew my circuit breaker and filled my condo with smoke. In researching on the internet this is a very common problem and many people state that this continues to re occur after having it repaired. I paid over $1000 for a piece of junk.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid 30" Architect Series II Freestanding Stainless Steel Gas Range:
I just bought this range. So far, it seems to work well with good control over flame size. We saw this model on-line and, if I had to do it over again, I would definitely buy something I actually saw in person. The burner grates are a bit more industrial looking than what could be gleaned from the photo. But the real disappointment is the pan drawer at the bottom. Much flimsier than I would expect from a kitchenaid product. As an earlier commenter noted, it's too small to hold anything. And it does stick out, with a gap between the drawer face and the stove body, looking like it needs to be pushed in. It would have been much better aesthetics to simply replace the useless drawer with a stainless plate.
Would recommend but urge you to look at it in person first.

This is a great stove for the price. Performs efficiently with multiple baking and cooking options. Made apple strudel and the difference between my old oven and the Kitchenaid was remarkable. The oven pastry option is great.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid 30" Architect Series II Freestanding Stainless Steel Gas Range:
I replaced my old Kitchenaid gas range with this model six weeks ago. The new range wasn't as fancy as the model I had, but I figured it could get the job done. Wrong. Also, the bottom drawer is really tiny. Can't really store anything in it other than a pot lid or two. I knew that it was small, but figured the HUGE oven would more than make up for it. Alas, uneven heating in the oven, whether or not using convection. The drawer is not well thought out in construction either. It sits too far below the oven door, and just doesn't look like it's installed correctly. The knobs were pretty lightweight in feel, but I decided as long as they turn on and off, who cares. Well, I guess I do - the knob on the burner I use the most doesn't operate correctly and wasn't turning off. Come to find out, it is cracked on the interior and has to be replaced. There was no "trauma" to it. Who knows why it's broken. Did I mention that this range is 6 weeks old![...] I'll have to go through Kitchenaid and see what resolution I can get. Right now, I'm feeling quite disappointed in my poor choice for a new gas range.
My service was exceptional, both in store and in delivery. Delivery could not have been quicker. Delivery technician had to change my gas line and that was smooth and professionally done as well.
Abt knows how to treat their customers. I won't buy my appliances anywhere else, even after my disappointment with this Kitchenaid gas range.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid 30" Architect Series II Freestanding Stainless Steel Gas Range:
This is a very functional stove, and it looks great with all of the other SS Kitchenaid appliances. The only thing I don't like is the knobs...they are too small. Most of the ranges have the larger knobs you see on professional ranges (like Viking), but these just don't look cool.
The electronic controls are great, the temperature is very even for a gas oven, and the cooktop is very flexible.
