The Nuvi 880 is every expensive, but it allows you to talk to the Nuvi and tell it what to do.....AND it includes Bluetooth communications so you can talk through your cell phone without ever touching it.....The voice command is NOT perfect...but its come a LONG way..if you live with the 880 for a few weeks...you'll learn the small voice command quirks that it has....Other than that...its just like the rest of the Nuvi line up: the menus are fair, and the MSN service is only so so... (I'm in NYC) The Nuvi 880 has dual speakers built in it, but its sometimes not loud enough in traffic. Perhaps a quieter car would do better with both the voice command and the speakers. If you want true hands free operations from a navigation unit..the Nuvi 880 & 885 are the way to go.

I love this GPS system. there are only a couple flaws in my opinion. The maximum volume is not loud enogh to hear over road and normal radio noise. When routed through the radio, there are not any good stations that allow the device to be heard. There are either sounds bleeding from nearby stations or not enogh constant snow noise; which is needeed to use the device through the radio. I would also like to have a north arrow on the map when it is navigating. One has to go to another screen to see which direction you're going.

This is the best unit I have ever seen, handheld or factory installed with the exception that it is difficult to enter via’s and I haven’t gotten the Bluetooth working yet (I can hear the person but they can’t hear me). I just love the portably of the unit, I can remove it from the vehicle and connect it to my laptop to download map directions.

Voice commands were easy to use and greatly exceeded my expectations. Touchscreen was simple and even faster. Garmin should contract with every car manufacturer out there to handle their GPS needs because this product beats everything I have ever tried including the new BMW and Audi systems. Awesome!

i had gotten this for my wife whom has admited to be diretionaly chalanged I used to have to help her with directions all the time and now Im glad to hear that she doesnt need me any more. we will be looking to get me one for when I go on my buisness trips wich im finding would help me out greatly.

Great GPS unit, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. When compared with a Blackberry's GPS it found a much faster route around the traffic. Voice recognition is a little hit or miss but much better than anything else. The unit updates your location faster than other GPS receivers I have tried.Plus, even though playing solitaire while driving is not advisable, it does make traffic jams much more enjoyable.My favorite thing to do with it is to jump in my car and just say the name of a place like [...]and have it direct me to the nearest store.

I use GPS in the car because I am a REALTOR and often in unfamiliar territory, often rural. I bought the 880 this year to be a gift but installed it in my own car for testing against the TomTom 720.
While I prefer a couple of things in the TT720, the Garmin 880 won out and I will buy one for myself. The voice recogition is far superior in the Garmin and much easier to use. The volume is weak from the speaker compared to the TT720 and neither has a manual volume control - GPS makers continue to miss how important that is.
The Bluetooth speakerphone quality is superior on the Garmin and you can add an external mike if not positioned close to the driver. One problem with the 880's Bluetooth connection to the iPhone - I have 2,000 contacts in my iPhone but the Garmin will only pick up about half of them. Garmin tech support is no help on that point.
Last point - for the rural area I work in, the map in the Garmin is MUCH more accurate than the latest TomTom map.

Great Overall Unit, Voice Recognition Rocks! MSN Direct great feature for live traffic updates, weather, POI's. Just wish the speaker volume was better for bluetooth phonecalls. Sometimes seems a bit to low and I have it maxed. This would not stop me from buying this unit again though. Great Job Garmin!

Great GPS once it acquired satellites. Acquiring satellites in bad weather (rains, for instance) could be painfuly slow!!!

I use the 880 for my work and have been very pleased with it's capabilities. It does almost instant recalculations if a turn is missed etc. The hands free feature is nice. Would like to have ability to raise speaker volume some but it is adequate. I have just downloaded a update to help the FM transmitter but have not used it yet. Bluetooth works great and I love the phonebook feature. Some who I have called have commented that it was a little difficut to hear me thru the mic. I have the unit dash mounted just to the right of the steering wheel. I have found Garmins website and tools for updates and downloads worked great and I appeciate the add-ons like other vehicles and voices. I live in a rural area where MSN feature not available but I'm sure those features and traffic reporting would be great for those in urban areas. Very pleased with the product and would recommend it.

Great product. easy to setup and use. it's one of the best units in the market. the only negative comment is it present some strange routing at times and the street addresses are not the most precise.

This is our first GPS and we like the Nuvi 880 for the fact that it is voice command. However, it does have some issues. Sometimes it does not recognize our voice instructions. There's also problem with places that have been existed for many years but can not be located on the GPS. The menu takes a little time to get used to.
Besides all these cons, we found the Nuvi 880 is nice and slim. Text is clear and easy to read. It navigates quite well when you find your destinations. Voice activation is handy at time especially when you are driving and need to keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
Overall, we like the Nuvi 880 and would recommend this unit if voice command activation is what you need.

We usually rely on AAA for maps and Triptiks, but the ones they are published now are useless we felt on this trip from Madison, WI to Craftsbury VT and around the back roads of Vermont. We were saved by our newly purchased Garmin with voice activation. The route chosen by the Garmin was better than AAA.

The hands free communication was safer and easier and worked well. It is activated by a remote control button on the steering wheel, so it is only listening when you want it to.

Sometimes however the Australian lady would guess wrong what we had said and that led to some good laughs. We were very happy the Garmin could find the very small dirt roads in Vermont, but sometimes it would send us on roads that were not really roads. (Although they haven't been officially closed.)

Going through Chicago, we were glad we knew the way because the directions on I90 did not seem right at all.

We liked the feature of being able to find the nearest ATM, McDonalds, etc. although we had to learn that nearest on the freeway might be behind us and to look at the direction of the arrows next to the mileage.

This is our first GPS unit and we are still learning the best shortcuts and way around the menu - the instruction book should have been much more detailed. But, all in all we are very very pleased with the Garmin 880.
