This product is absolutely great. I especially like taking the unit home to my desktop computer and easily (and I do mean 'easily') putting in all my favorites and routes etc.

The one thing that I would like though, is a 'space' button in the keypad when typing in a street name or general information. i.e. if I want to type 'Boulevard(space)East', I can only type 'Boulevard' and hope east comes up in the list. Maybe there is a way to do it and I just don't know it.

Will find Satellites relatively quickly if you update the software monthly -- they change positions and the software tracks this. Performance will slow without updates.

Took it on a 1500 mile trip to Wisconsin. Wrongly directed us to SE 14th St instead of NE 14th St in Des Moines and would not let us overwrite its wrong decision. Occasionally the touchscreen erased our intended route and we could not figure out what we did to cause that to happen. Not as good as my son's Garmin, but overall good for price paid.

I am very happy with the low-end TomTom. I am actually amazed at how well it does navigating around town. Right now I am just testing it versus routes I traditionally take; it is dead on. Soon it will be guiding me to new locations though. That is when the real testing begins. POI's are a little dated and off but that is okay. The window mount seems to work fine. For the most part it is simple to use and works out of the box. I haven't tested how long the battery lasts, but it seems adequate for short jaunts around town. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a case; guess I will have to pick one up. I am glad that I picked this model and when you add in the rebate it was a steal! Thanks Abt and TomTom.

Great little unit. Easy to use and navigate menus.

CONS: Only 48 favorites can be stored. Would like to see ability to add your own POI categories. (Truck stops). Adding missing roads doesn't seem to work very well. When adding a favorite, the point must be right on a road. If you put it in a parking lot or off the road anywhere, then it can not calculate route. You can plan a route with 1 via/stop but not multiple stops.

Works great in a big truck, but nothing beats a laptop with map software. (Delorme Street Atlas)

My friend got a GPS a week after me but he got talked into a Garmin and regrets it. Said he should have bought one like mine.

The maufaturer's package was hard to open; however once you open it, the GPS is charged and ready to go.[...] you can have the latest map by downloading, free of charge, map corrections VERIFIED by TomTom. the map corrections is a new map-share technology--allows users of tomtom to correct and share map routes as they go about their trips.The manufacturer also offers GPS-Fix updates to aquire satellites quickley; however if you don't update, or TomTom didn't provide the new update, @ the time of u'r trip, the Gps may aquire the satellite after a minute or so-depending on where you are. After that, the GPS will aquire the satellites very quickly.Map Graphics are good and colorful--with several options of night/day schemes.Lots of informatin in the status bar. Again, you have the ability to customize it to your preferance.Touch screen is bright and very sensitive. Voice commands are clear,loud and speed-2-volume controlled; however, sometimes confusing @ overlapping hwys if you're a 1st time user. Once you get used to it, becomes very easy.Many options to calculate accurate routes; however, it may not necessarily pick a route that you already know-and-find-easy to use.Once you plan/enter your route, there is a route demo @ your choice of speed-in-time to play, so you'll have a good idea about your route before you actually start your trip.Some people experienced problems @ start-up with "white screen", but so-far, I had absolutely no such problems.My brother has the OLDER VERSION, TomTom One-New Edition. Also works as great; however, after the latest update, sometime @ startup he needs to reset his TomTom. An Easier way to reset the old TomTom @ Start-up than the reset button (if you don't have a tiny pin to insert into the reset-hole), would be to pop-out the SD before starting your TomTom, Start the Tomtom, then insert the SD back in.As for TomTom 3rd Edition, there is no SD slot. Thus, it's limited on memory space. If you'd like to download extra's you may need to delete some of the things you don't need on your TomTom--voices etc.Also, I should mention that you're allowed to make a back-up of your TomTom before each update. it comes-in handy in case something goes wrong after the update.Tomtom 3rd would've even been greater if it offered something like reality-view which comes on Navigon--it shows you a virtual hwy with merging lanes/exits that pops-up near exits. However, Tomtom 3rd does have good graphics, and is still a great deal for the money.Conclusion...Other than the low battery life and no SD slot, it's a great product..I highly recommend it. Had it had a longer battery life and an SD slot, this product would easily earn Five-Star rating.

The ONE 3rd has a lot of features for such a low price device. The maps are a life saver! They make route planning really easy because it always finds the fastest and shortest route, and if you change your destination then your TomTom can quickly recalculate. The Help Me1 feature is also really cool. It's like an instant POI button for police departments, the nearest hospitals and fire stations, gas stations and everything else you may need in an emergency or near-emergency situation. It will even give you the phone numbers. The Mapshare feature is another great thing about TomTom. You can make edits, additions, corrections to your maps and upload them using the TomTom software and share them with other TT users! You can even download their map edits. I've always found TomTom maps really accurate and up-to-date but this is definitely usually if your area is doing a lot of roadwork! Definitely recommend this unit!

Simply put this little unit easily rivals Tom Toms flagship devices. In addition I would say it is even more useful than my Garmin Nuvi 650 which ended up being at time of purchase 3x as much. Tom Tom has once again put together a great compact navigation device with the features you would expect in a system costing over $500.

I work in Home Care and travel approximately 200 miles daily. This Tom Tom has saved me mileage by showing me shorter routes than I was taking. It automatically stores my routes that I enter so when I need to go to a patients home again from a different area it already has the complete address listed in memory. I have been wanting to get a GPS for many months now and decided to get this one based on recommendations and the price. The TomTom One is very easy to use and the maps are easy to read. I also like the fact that I can charge it on my computer. The GPS unit is thin and portable and lightweight. If I could add one more feature it would be including the street names on the voice directions. Otherwise this is a great GPS and I recommend it to anyone looking to buy a GPS.

The TomTom One 3rd Edition is a terrific no-frills GPS. It works without problem with my Mac and has very fast recalculations of routes. I especially like the ability to add third-party POI info, and the map corrections ability.
The only downside I've found is the address entry, which is non-intuitive. You have to add north/south etc to the street name, not the address number. Once I figured that out, I can program destinations without problem.

The TomTom 3rd Edition is a terrific product for the price. The ability to upgrade the different features for free at TomTom home is a unique and great addition to the product. It acquires satellites quickly and recalculates the routes rapidly. It will certainly be a lot more convenient traveling to places around town that I'm not familiar with and for trips outside the city.

The TOMTOM ONE 3rd Edition is a entry level portable gps unit. I took mine right out of the box and it fired right up! You should charge it for atleast 4 or more hrs after you set it up initially. On my first trip I located the Grocery store near my location and worked as it should. I would buy it again for the price.
