[...] [...] within 5 minutes of setting up my brand new PS3, it locked up and the screen went blank. I got on the phone with Sony support who determined the unit had failed and I had to ship it to Sony. Now, they have that process down to a science for sure. Maybe from all the practice of exchanges for all the failed units? Since my experience with my PS3, I have 3 friends and family members who have had their PS3s fail within the first year. Now that I have my new replacement PS3, I'm wondering if and when mine will fail and if it will be shortly after warranty this time. I sure hope not!In the meantime, my wife and I are having a blast with it watching Blu Ray DVDs and playing Guitar Hero World Tour. The screen resolution is awesome on my 1080P 56" hi def tv! That, combined with my Denon S101 sound system, makes for a great entertainment experience.One note for universal remote lovers, the controllers communicate with Bluetooth. If you are planning on incorporating the PS into your universal remote, your remote probably only uses infrared and won't control the PS3. You can get an addon controller by a company called Nyko that uses a infrared receiver to communicate with a little remote. It costs anywhere from 14 to 20 dollars and you can then incorporate the PS3 into your universal remote. The only thing you won't be able to do is power it on or off, which is not biggie for me since you have to make a trip to the PS3 anyway to insert a Blu Ray or take it out.

You can't beat the amount of features that are offered to you for the price. Blue Ray players alone cost about $400. Here you have a multimedia system that gives you the flexibility of playing games, watching movies, viewing pictures, listening to music, and much more. It is a great purchase for the price.
