I use the camera primarily for home movies. I took it out to the desert on a recent trip. Captured some fantastic video of off-road vehicles in the dunes with very little problems with the high contrast (bright sun/almost white surface) found there. Also got some great shots of the sunset. The camera mode was very impressive as well- it took some great pictures even in low light around a campfire.

Purchased to video swimming events. The camcorder provides a very clear image, even from long distances. Swimming venues are typically darker, thus using a camera is difficult without a flash, which is a "no-no". This camcorder has no issue with light aperture. I set the unit up the way I wanted to record beforehand, so operating the unit during the event was very simple. I have had no issues with the humidity affecting the camcorder, though the venues are obviously very humid! I bring the unit home plug it into my TV, via an HDMI cable, and can immediately view any or all of the recordings. Burning to a DVD is a snap.

We really like this camera, but it is a little tricky to copy several movies onto a disk together. The instructions are sketchy. As for quality, once it gets focused, it takes excellent pictures.
The service from Abt is excellent. We have purchased several other products from them due to their fast delivery, fair prices and excellent customer service department.

I decided to wait a bit before buying a high definition camcorder and the wait was worth it.
This camera sports lots of features in a small and sleek package.
- Video quality is superb and audio is excellent, you get approximately 7 hours of FULL HD AVCHD 1080i.
- Simultaneous 10 megapixel picture taking while recording video.
- Video dock included for transfering videos and pictures to your computer.
I'd like Sony to have included a mini-HDMI so I could easily connect the camera to a HDTV.
The AVCHD format is still making its way into major editing software so beware that the bundled software is very basic you won't be able to do a lot with it.
Also, consider a larger battery (Sony NPFH100 H Series Actiforce) and maybe an extra memory stick card so you can record and take pictures at the same time.
Enjoy this great little HD camera!
