Comments about Sony Sony Learning Remote Control:

Outstanding remote! The only problem I had was that I could not easily use it with my Sony DVD Recorder or any DVD recorder. I called Sony Tech Support and they confirmed that the remote cannot be used for DVD recorders because there are no Sony preprogrammed codes for DVD recorders, however, you can program the remote to operate a DVD recorder if you program one button at a time using the remote's learning function but even then all functions may not work.

Comments about Sony Sony Learning Remote Control:

I purchased this because even 2 current year Sony products i own do not know each others codes. I figured that the learning function was what was needed. It learns codes flawlessly. There are not enough generically labeled buttons to replace my DVR remote - but general use for basic playback works well. Button "feel" is a bit cheap and sometimes sends double codes if you are not careful to push and immediatlely release the button. Great value for the money - saves on wear and tear for the [expensive] original devices!

Comments about Sony Sony Learning Remote Control:

It works pretty well. It has most remote codes we needed and was able to learn the remote that we didn't have. We are able to program macros, but lack of delay can be a problem. The TV takes time to get going, so it has to be turned on first. Then the macro, with some dummy key strokes, works.

Overall, other than the lack of a delay it works well.

Comments about Sony Sony Learning Remote Control:

I have 4 remotes (TV (JVC), DVD (APEX), STEREO (JVC) and VCR (JVC)). I've been juggling, dropping, losing among those 4 remotes. My kids don't make it any easier either. After reading all the reviews (+ve and -ve) in [...], I've decided to buy this to replace all of them and it didn't disappoint! Setting up was super easy! I love the learning mode (and I had to use that for a few functions). System control buttons (already set 2 of them) execute a series of operations nicely. However, the major component select buttons (TV,DVD,VCR etc) are unlit - makes it harder to see in a dim area. (Repeated usage makes you memorize the buttons, so that was the workaround!). I am fastidious so, I tested if all the TV remote buttons are emulated. Found one minor issue: The caption button on the TV has no corresponding button on this remote. I've tested this remote to learn it using a totally different component. I didn't like this way. The system control buttons are nice. I set it to execute a series of operations. So, when I press them it should execute and press them again it should reverse it. Meaning, power on and play when pressed, press again the same button, it should stop and power off. Most of the times, it is dubious! Some times it works ok. I don't want to use one button for power-on and play and set another button to stop and power-off. That would not be efficient. Those are the only issues so far in this 3 week period since I bought it. The price cannot be beat! [...]! I think it is worth every penny for my purpose - to replace my 4 remotes (this can control 8 devices, so I still have room for 4 more). All in all, I would definitely recommend this.

Comments about Sony Sony Learning Remote Control:

Setup of programmed/changed buttons isn't intuitive, but the manual isn't bad. A glitch on one command that I haven't found a fix for (I programmed a "down" button but it seems to send "down down"). It would be too confusing (though possible) to use it to replace my DVD remote (too many DVD buttons would have to be mapped to random new-remote buttons--but that's a necessary trade off between too many labeled button and not enough). On the plus side, it had no trouble picking up commands from my old & failing remote, which is why I got it.

Comments about Sony Sony Learning Remote Control:

I purchased this remote, Sony RMVL600, to handle the remotes for the TV, the receiver and the cable box. It will handle the DVD player and several more components. My concern was that it had to turn on and turn off my Onyko receiver. The remote was easy to program and it handles all my components, using the one remote. I had tried to set up a Harmony remote but could not get that to work correctly. When I heard about the Sony remote, I had two thoughts. One, it was too good to be true and second that it was going to be expensive. The remote was less than $20 and it is a learning remote. I am very pleased, as I have it programmed to do everything my Onyko remote would do, plus everything my cable box remote would do. I am pleased with the Sony remote.

Does everything it should. It replaced my Dish Network remote, LG tv remote, Sony amp remote, and Sony DVD remote. SO you can see why I bought one! Very easy to operate. I did not even bother looking up the codes as it is so easy just to get it to learn what the buttons were on your old remotes. Point the old and new remotes at each other, press a few buttons and presto. Button learned. Better than I expected, and also has the ability to stack commands - eg. tv on, amp on, sat box on, all with one button press! No cons yet. Owned for a month.

Comments about Sony Sony Learning Remote Control:

I have just upgraded my system to a Sony 60A2020, Sony DG910 Amp, Direct TV H20 and LG DVD/VHS combo recorder. I have used other remotes with tons of macros and LCD displays, and while they work well, my wife has vision problems and has really strugled to use them. This little remote has nice large buttons which are well marked and placed. She has no problem at all using it.
With only 4 pieces of equiupment to control and BD/HD DVD coming later this was a logical choice.
Absolutley love it and have ordered another to use in the camper.

I can control my DIRECT TV sat,tv (Aiwa). The remote from Direct tv can't do that.I have a whole bunch of remotes that can either work one or the other but not both. That's all I wanted from a remote. This one does it all. To get some of the buttons to work, you have to program the Sony by using the learning feature which is one remote facing the sony remote to get it to work, follow directons. It would be better if it lights up at night. I like the layout better than the Direct tv remote.[...]

I used this remote to replace an expensive RCA remote with LCD. The Sony worked so much better and was easier to program. This remote worked great with all of my components. Cons:
Buttons Wear Easily, Not ergonomic
Best Uses:

Comments about Sony Sony Learning Remote Control:

We had a predecessor to this that we loved, but the buttons wore out. I hope that this version has better button-wear. This remote is fantastic--everything works great, there are many buttons for various equipment. My only complaint is the shape. It's wide and heavy at the bottom and it doesn't seem ergonomic. The button configuration is somewhat poor--I think I liked the old one better. Buttons seem to be all over the place. This was also an excellent value--the price is half of what we paid for the predecessor.
