I never before watched podcasts and only occasionally watched youtube videos. Now, I watch Podcasts and youtube videos on a 32" widescreen display and the videos look great and are streamed very smoothly (optimum online service). This especially nice with company, since you are able to watch youtube, etc on your TV instead of going to another room and crowding around a computer. I also listen to music while watching the picture slideshow - the best way I've ever seen to display your digital photo collection.
The Apple TV was packaged in a box which was inside another box (then you have the Apple box). Shipped same day even though I placed ordered after 2PM. Package arrived in 2 days using standard shipping.

Bought this unit to be able to rent movies online. It is so easy to use and the movies download and are ready to be viewed in just a few minutes. Not only can you watch movies but it puts everything on your itunes account onto it. So now all my music can be heard through the stereo while displaying a nice graphic on the TV screen. Also will display all of your photos. Very happy with it.

I first set it up with wireless...wasn't working great because of connection speed.
Then I connected hardwire network. Works great!!!

Awesome product, easy to set up and easy to use. Brings countless hours of entertainment from my desktop to our home theatre. Between our itunes library and our iPhoto albums we can enjoy days of uninterupted enjoyment.

Excelent product. I am able to view own home video transfered to the Apple TV. Its great for buying music, and video content from iTunes at very affordable prices. Lots of media content from iTunes.

LOVE the product, but downloading HD movies and HD series takes HOURS and HOURS to complete...even over braodband (cable)

This product rocks. I have 1500 CDs ripped on my computer to iTunes (lossless), and this easy to set up device allows me to wirelessly stream it all to my entertainment system without any streaming hiccups whatsoever. I did not sync my iTunes to the built in hard drive (I have 600gig of music, too much for the 160 gig internal drive) - I just stream. If you too intend to stream, just get the cheaper Apple TV with the smaller drive. My only wish, and why I gave it 4 stars, is I would like Apple to allow control of the unit wirelessly from iTouch so the TV can be off when browsing for music.
The YouTube also rocks, as I can just sit back and enjoy it from my sofa with the remote.

USES FOR THE APPLE TVI had 2 main reasons for buying the Apple TV:- I want to show photos without having to plug my Mac into the TV- I want a central, digital repository of all of my CDs and DVDs that are accessible on demand. SETUPI set up the Apple TV with an HDMI connection to my Panasonic 50" plasma TV and RCA stereo to the TV. I don't have my new amp yet so I couldn't test out the 5.1 sound at this time.The setup was extremely easy. Instead of using the built-in 802.11n wireless capabilities which seemed to work fine, I opted to plug directly into an ethernet jack in my wall. I then went to iTunes and set up what I wanted to copy over to the Apple TV and let it go. It worked flawlessly.PROSWhen using the Apple TV with the included remote, everything just worked as expected without having to read any manuals. It was remarkably easy to use. My goal is to rip all of the DVDs taking up space on my shelves and load those into the AppleTV via iTunes. This toy is absolutely amazing!CONS- You can't buy movies through Apple TV, only rent them. I had to go to iTunes to buy the movie and download it taking up valuable storage space on my Mac that I don't have; I had to delete and compress a lot of files. It then transferred automatically to Apple TV.- I bought Ratatouille for $14.99 through iTunes. For whatever reason, only the standard version is sold but an HD version is available to rent!?!?- There is no easy way to get my DVDs into the Apple TV without ripping them on my Mac. They should do something like Bose where you put in a disc and it copies it to its hard drive.- The hard drive limitations are what prevented me from buying this a year ago and they aren't much better now. I will fill the 160GB hard drive soon as I rip my DVD and CD collections and store them on the Apple TV. A real plus for this system would be the ability to store your entire libraries remotely on a network storage device, such as DROBO, that can be accessed by Apple TV as well as your computers.SUMMARYThe Apple TV is a great piece of equipment and I'm sure it will just keep getting better via software upgrades. Some work needs to be done on the rent/buy aspect of the device and also on the limited storage with no external storage options (w/o a computer).
