Let's say your favorite local radio station is on 96.9FM. With HD Radio technology, that same station is being broadcast in digital sound on 96.9 HD1. Plus you can access all new content on up to three additional stations: 96.9 HD2, HD3, and HD4.

Digital Sound

No static. No hiss. Only the good stuff.

HD Radio stations broadcast in clear digital quality to your local area making static, radio hiss and fuzz a thing of the past. Hear the difference of digital sound using the samples to the right.

HD Radio technology enables receivers to display song titles, album art, and station information so you get the true Artist Experience® with PSD (Program Service Data).

Real-Time Updates

In-depth info. 10x faster than other broadcast methods.

Our data network allows us to broadcast Digital Traffic and Instant Info including everything from changing weather conditions to the latest sports scores and emergency messages. HD Radio signals provide reliability when you need it most… all with the touch of a button.

How It Works

Your radio dial is branching out.

By broadcasting digitally over traditional radio waves, a single frequency is now capable of delivering up to four stations of content in crystal clear sound. All you do is tune in to your favorite station and your HD Radio receiver will automatically lock in to the HD1 signal for that station. One notch over on the dial and you're listening to entirely new content on the HD2 station. Additionally the digital signal provides on-screen information such as: album art, song info, traffic and weather.

HD Radio Receivers

Like an HDTV, you can't hear HD radio, unless you have an HD radio receiver. This receiver will obtain the HD signal being broadcast through the airwaves and brings it into your car or home, in stunning crystal-clear audio.

HD Radio Multicasting

In addition to re-creating analog stations in HD, stations can split the digital portion of their signal. This will allow individual stations the option to broadcast two or more programs simultaneously. This means, you can have one side of the station playing a talk-radio station offering up the latest news, while the other signal is broadcasting the local sports game. This keeps you dedicated to your favorite station, while hearing just what you want to hear.

iTunes Tagging

Ever hear a song on the radio and it's stuck in your brain all day? Well, with iTunes tagging, you can keep that song going and going by automatically "tagging" it on HD Radio. Once you tag it, the information will be sent to your iTunes and you will be prompted to purchase that song on iTunes!
