Shower radios are either the $10 junk in the bed and bath stores, or the $100 high end models. This was right in the middle of that price range, and is a fantastic product. Being a digital radio, there is no more fussing around trying to dial in that fuzzy station--there are 20 settings for your stations, and all the controls are easy push button. I was amazed to get certain classical music stations that are quite a distance, stations I normally have trouble tuning in. The sound is rich and clear! And I like the 20 minute auto-off feature, so you can just forget about it after you leave the bathroom. Don't hesitate to buy this, it's really well made and hefty--you can use it anywhere. I can't say there's a thing about it I would change. Great Job Sony!

It is one of the best if you do not want to say it is the best among shower radio and any radio. Sony has it all. Actually it is among the best in Sony radios as well.

Love the raised buttons and the fact that you can tell by touch which button you're adjusting. I'm blind without my glasses (which I certainly don't wear in the shower!), and I really appreciate being able to tell whether I'm hitting the timer or the OFF button without having to read labels -- their different sizes, shapes and intuitive placement make it easy to tell what you're doing even with your eyes closed to keep out the soap! I'm totally impressed by the design and quality, and the sound is great, too!

The radio isn't sleek looking but it works great and the preset buttons are a nice feature. I'm glad I bought it and enjoy listening to the radio in the bathroom when I'm getting ready for work in the morning.

I was replacing a shower radio by another manufacturer that didn't have a timer and did not have digital tuning. The timer is great because I can set it to 20 minutes and it shuts itself off before I leave the bathroom in the morning. I listen to the same station on a blaster near the sink and I love that I can hear both when I get out of the shower and not have to go back there to turn the Sony off. I also like that it has digital tuning so that I never have to guess if the station is tuned in well. I also like that it runs off of C batteries so that I will not have to change the batteries as often as with AA's. It could always sound better (more bass) but I wouldn't want the extra size to increase the bass. But I am satisfied with the sound for the shower. And I would always wish it to be less expensive, but I am satisfied with the price.

I bought my Sony Shower radio about 20 years ago to use in the bathroom and it has been so satisfactory that I just ordered another to use in the kitchen. This radio has a goofy dangling wire for an FM antenna with a silly suction cup tied to the end. Also the volume control knob is stiff, maybe too tight, thus difficult to turn and poorly shaped for good grip with wet or soapy hands. Band switch should allow direct access rather than scrolling. It makes an annoying scratchy sound when the off button is pushed which seems unrefined...

I use this in my bathroom, especially while I'm taking a shower and shaving in the morning. It functions exactly as I wanted and needed. I am immensely pleased with it's features and performance. It's easy to program, easy to use and it sounds great, even at the high volume I set it at while in the shower. The radio is quite sensitive in almost any orientation. In short, this radio is precisely what what it should be. BTW: I'm a professional radio engineer, so I know what I'm talking about.

After 3 dud shower radios, this one works reliably, but cost a bit more than the bargain radios. The others sooner or later had problems with tuning - it became imposible to keep a station, and dialing it while in the shower was difficlut. The radio avoids the problem with film-covered preset buttons so no moiotuer gets in the tuner, and changing stations is imple.

Very nice design on the radio, the instruction manual does not explain setting the TV presets clearly. The presets are set the same as all other presets, so it was not a problem at all.

This was a gift for my daughter. She loves it and says it works great. I left a star off because it has analog TV stations that won't get reception any longer in 2009. My daughter just listens to the radio stations so this doesn't bother her at all.

I try to listen to news and traffic while showering and this is a great radio to do that. I live in a brick brownstone and the reception is excellent. The only problem I had was after about 5(?) years the plastic shielding on the buttons wore off and I could no longer change the stations. But it still worked! I'm hoping someone will get me a new one for Christmas. lol

Stupid questionnaire cuts off entry of sentence with no warning or guidance. To complete my thought, In 2008 or sooner the (radio) TV channels will not work because of fed-mandated shift of TV signal from analog to digital.

Sony makes great products. The radio being replaced still runs well, but the on/off switch died. The new one has great features for early risers: news, weather, clock that the earlier model didn't have. I hope this one lasts as long as the other.

By far the best shower radio I've ever owned. I've gone through several of them that are never reliable when wet, go through batteries in a matter of a few weeks, and have a lifespan of no more than a few months. This one definitely represents its quality name of Sony and has shown me that there is in fact a company capable of making a solid, reliable shower radio. I definitely recommend this to someone who doesn't have the strong desire to play CDs in the shower and would enjoy FM/AM/TV/Weather.

I bought one of these radios for the shower last year, listen to it just about every day for a half-hour, and I'm still on the original 3 C battery set. The radio sounds very good, not audiophile, but solid bass and good tone for a small radio. The best thing about it, though, is it's more than a shower radio. I'm buying extras for the garage and the patio. I also bought one for my 88 year old mother who is in assisted living. She can press the button and have her favorite station play for an hour. She can also move the radio around her apartment easily. The utter simplicity is a very important feature for her. This is an overall outstanding, quality, functional product.

I searched everywhere to find a TOP QUALITY shower radio, I finally found the SONY ICFS79 [...].This radio has everything you could ask for in a "shower radio". Digital tuning, analog volume, Weather Radio, TV Audio, Timer, AM/FM too! The automatic shutoff timer puts it over the top! Lastly, a great radio that uses "C" batteries instead of short lived "AA". Thanks SONY!

This product works very well. You can use it in many situations, including in the shower. The only drawbacks are that it doesn't have an AC plug-in option, and the antenna is a long wire that is somewhat bothersome sometimes.

I love the count-down timer - you can set to 60, 45, 30, 20, etc minutes. Great station presets. Easy volume control even with wet hands. Attractive design. Stands up firmly if you have a shelf or you can hang it from the shower head.

After buying, and returning, other shower radios...finally, this one is a keeper!! Great sound (for what I need) and love the TV channel function. Although, the TV reception only goes up to channel 13 (only one of our local channels lie in that range). I like the coated buttons on top, and that it has a digital readout. Very easy to use. I would absolutely recommend this product.

The top buttons have worn out, but I have put waterproof band-aids on them and it's fine. We love the fact that it's AM/FM/TV and Weather. This get the best reception of any radio in our house.

After going through several smaller radios with inferior sound quality, this Sony model sounds great. It is not small enough to put into a pocket, but is still convenient to move from room to room. We don't know how durable it is, yet, but it seems like it will take some knocks.

I bought this as a gift for my wife, who likes to listen to morning radio while getting ready for the day. This radio has great clarity and she can even listen while in the shower or while using a blow-dryer. It is perfectly suited for use in the bathroom since it doesn't require a power cord and it is compact and quite durable. She loves the portability as well. Originally, I thought that a battery-opertaed radio would be a hinderance, but batteries last a long time.$[...] seemed expensive for a radio since I didn't particularly need the TV/Weatherband features nor did I plan to use it in a shower. It would be nice if Sony ofered an equal quality design in just AM/FM at a lower price.In summary, for the price, you get a compact, durable radio with easy to operate digital controls and GREAT sound that will last a long time.

The Sony Clock Radio ICFS79 exceeded my expectations. The reception is excellent. I had previous shower radios that got poor reception and faded in and out. This model pulls in stations very clearly. The cons are the price and that the TV stations only get channels 2 - 13. Regardless this was a very good purchase.

Great little machine. Instead of putting it the shower, I used two suction hooks, and hung it near my sink. Fiddled with the antenna; and I was in business. Terrific value for the money.

The only drawback is that there was no hook for hanging the radio in the shower included or available (even from Sony directly). Looks good and has good sound quality in our enclosed shower, but that is to be expected as it is a Sony.

The radio has nice features but is designed badly for a shower radio. All the buttons are on top and can't be seen if the radio is hanging from the shower head. It also sticks out so the water runs closer to it than it would if the strap was attached at the sides.

I actually just bought a back-up one of these in case my old one breaks and Sony stops making them. It has great reception for a shower radio, is a good, compact size, and the batteries last forever. I especially like that it has a timer so you can turn it on for ten or twenty minutes and it will turn itself off. My only quibble is that the white plastic has discolored a little where the sun hits it.
