I hope it lasts for more than 1 year! It is somewhat quiet, compared to other mfg, easy to install and operate. A pump tube is included, but the GARDEN hose is not for continuous drain which I prefer. I thought the unit was a little pricey, but if it works and lasts, it would be money well spent. I WOULD LIKE to see a dehumidifier shut down completely when the humidity level was reached and turn back on when it is needed. Since I only had this unit for a short time, I would give the value, quality, & performance a good rating, however, the unit is new, ask me in 11 months! I don't like the idea you have to remove the bucket to get at the filter to clean. Why couldn't they design the filter to be removed from the side? If that is the only down side to me, I will deal with it.

I bought 3 months ago a GE dehumidifier 70-pint that I use for my ~1000 square foot day-light basement (house built in 2007). The temperature in my basement is always between 69 and 73 degrees and the humidity varies between 40% to 60% depending on the weather. The dehumidifier appears to be high quality. The bucket is very large and the controls are easy to use and understand. The value displayed on the dehumidifier represent the current humidify. However, the value displayed is never the same as the one displayed by the “temperature comfort monitor sitting on a table in the same room. My main complain I have about this dehumidifier is that it cycles way too fast. The dehumidifier runs for 5-10 minutes and then stop for 30 seconds and restart. I would have expected the dehumidifier to run for 5-10 minutes and take a longer pause before restarting. I really wonder how this dehumidifier can be Energy Star compliant. I bought the powerful 70-pint version of this dehumidifier to make sure that it could handle efficiently my ~1000 square foot basement without having to run all day. At this point, I don’t believe GE dehumidifier 70-pint is very energy efficient since it runs all day with little to no pause.

Set it and forget it!

Comments about GE 70 Pint Light Cool Gray Dehumidifier:
Bought this for our 1080 sq.ft. basement and it has made a huge difference in air quality down there. It quickly took the humidity from 80% down to 45%. I opted for this model because of the automatic pump feature. I ran the included drain hose to the same pipe as our washing machine drains into and it just dies its thing without the hassle of emptying the tank all the time. Just set it and forget it!

Pump working so far...
from Buffalo, NY, United States
Nice auto eject feature with pump should you need a longer hose that cannot use gravity alone. Only a month in, but working good so far. always a little nervous about first generation technology.
Quiet and Efficient
I bought this dehumidifier to replace one that was noisy and inefficient. I am happy to say I made the correct choice. The GE humidifier is quiet, efficient, and has a feature that prevents the coils from freezing up. It was easy to install a hose that connects directly to a drain.

I've only had this unit for a few days, but it has worked well in taking out the moisture from my basement. It is relatively quiet and does add a little heat to the room, but it sure does the job of drying up the humidity. One thing I wish this unit had, is a child lock to keep my little ones from pushing buttons and changing settings. Other than that...it works well.

I bought this is help dry out a house that flooded in south Louisiana. It works GREAT. I like that pump so I don't have to worry about emptying it.
Dehumidifier GE - APEL70LT

This product is performing wonderfully and has lowered the humidity in our house crawl space to normal.

This is the first that I have seen with the auto pump out feature which is exactly what we needed for a basement office. In the past we had to empty the tank on a daily basis. Now I have it setup so it pumps directly into a laundry tub in another room.
Everything ready to set & forget

Only installed a few days ago; but seems to be all I was looking for in a dehumidifier. Set up and checked all the features. Auto re-start if electric power loss so I don't have to worry about going to re-start myself. Runs quiet but enough noise to know that it's running. So far, so good.
Easy to use

I purchased the unit near the end of summer while the humidity is still very high. The unit is doing a great job and has lowered the humidity to a very comfortable level
