I bought this one because my old unit bit the dust. I purchased the APEL70LT because I didn't like emptying the tank 2-3 times per day. This one comes with a pump. The instructions for operating the controls are quit easy to understand and I had the unit running within a few minutes after I installed it. The part that's not so clear is how to use the pump and whether to use a water hose which this one has an attachment or the pump hose that come with the unit. Currently I have it operating without the pump turned on. I am waiting until I can call Customer service to get clarification.I even searched YouTube to see if there was a video that would help but cannot find one at this time. Although I have a unit that has a pump I am not using that feature at this time. It works great and the water comes out of the water hose. I would still recommend this unit.

I bought 3 months ago a GE dehumidifier 70-pint that I use for my ~1000 square foot day-light basement (house built in 2007). The temperature in my basement is always between 69 and 73 degrees and the humidity varies between 40% to 60% depending on the weather. The dehumidifier appears to be high quality. The bucket is very large and the controls are easy to use and understand. The value displayed on the dehumidifier represent the current humidify. However, the value displayed is never the same as the one displayed by the “temperature comfort monitor sitting on a table in the same room. My main complain I have about this dehumidifier is that it cycles way too fast. The dehumidifier runs for 5-10 minutes and then stop for 30 seconds and restart. I would have expected the dehumidifier to run for 5-10 minutes and take a longer pause before restarting. I really wonder how this dehumidifier can be Energy Star compliant. I bought the powerful 70-pint version of this dehumidifier to make sure that it could handle efficiently my ~1000 square foot basement without having to run all day. At this point, I don’t believe GE dehumidifier 70-pint is very energy efficient since it runs all day with little to no pause.

I can set it and forget it.

Comments about GE 70 Pint Light Cool Gray Dehumidifier:
I bought this product because our basement was damp and we wanted to prevent any future problems. The main reason I purchased this model is because of the pump. I can set the dehumidifier to whichever level of humidity I want my basement at and it will automatically drain when the bucket is full. The only thing that I need to do is go down and clean the filter every 250 hours of use.

Our basement had a musty smell. After 2 days of running, the basement dried out and has a much drier smell.
Great price, really quiet

Bought this model a few weeks ago for our basement. It's very quiet, pulls the humidity down quickly, and our latest power bill showed very little change despite our running it most of the time. The included pump seems to be finicky about when it works, but even if I have to empty the bucket manually it pulls out easily. Good buy for the money, and the instructions are well written.

Gets the job done!

Had this dehumidifier for 4 months now. Works very well, the hose/pump function makes life easy. Just run the hose towards a drain (or in the case of a basement, a slop sink) and you literally have nothing to worry about. Runs continuously and without any issues. Definitely would recommend; well worth the price tag.
