after a month of use UHD Display - 3840x2160 very sharp with no light bleed-through. However, most console mode software still can't handle 3840x2160. After lowering resolution to HD mode (1920x1080), games work better. NVIDIA GPU - Choose default GPU using NVIDIA Control Panel "Manage 3D Setting" or with a right click. Intel GPU is fine for web browsing. Install latest Intel generic video drivers to eliminate minor video glitches. Hard disk - System has empty space for an m.2 SSD (SATA mode, not PCI-Express mode) (22mm by 80mm). Access to innards - Easy! Touchpad - Works well. To disable Touchpad if have a mouse connected, turn off "Leave touchpad on when mouse is connected" in "Mouse and Touchpad" settings in Settings / Devices. Similar option to fully disable Touchpad in Control Panel / "Windows Mobility Center." Keyboard - Works well, though key press travel is limited by chicklet style keyboard. WASD keys play games well. H and J keys get warm when gaming. Palm rest stays cool. Control FN multi-keys and key backlighting through Control Panel / "Windows Mobility Center." Backlighting turns off when if you stop typing for a bit and then restarts when you resume typing. CPU Fan - System fans do not turn on, except when gaming or doing something complex. System fans are noticeable, but not harsh, but will drown out normal speaker volume. An SSD will cut fan use when browsing. Memory - Ships with one 8GB memory chip (single channel DDR3L 1600MHz) with an empty slot for another 8Gb chip (system max is 16GB total). Two chips make system notably faster. Webcam - Uses Win10 "Camera" applet. Pictures are grainy. Microphones - Poor. Picks up system hiss, even with "Dell Audio" settings.

The body looks and feels like Alienware from inside and this is great laptop with excellent configuration. But the display lasted only 10 minutes and it just stopped. Got it replaced with a new laptop and no issues so far. Throw any current generation game at it, just handles it perfect as you expect. I would say, the laptop I received first was just a faulty product, but wouldn't it have been nice if I wasn't shipped a faulty product in first place? You purchase a product with high expectations and anyone would be heart broken to see this happen to their brand new laptop.

Great Laptop overall
Comments about Dell Inspiron 15 Gray Laptop Computer:
Had a Dell XPS laptop that is 7 years old. This new Dell laptop i7559 has been a great replacement. I have pleased with its performance and speed. The laptop has been a perfect replacement for an older Dell laptop. Microsoft not including the bloatware helps me to appreciate the laptop even more.

Great Computer For The Price
This is an excellent computer for the price. It has 4K screen resolution and is very fast I did have major problems at first. When I first turned it on, I got a message that the power supply wasn't recognized. I tried updating the drivers, but noticed the battery wasn't charging. I took the bottom off and found the battery wasn't plugged into the board properly. That problem was easily fixed. After loading half my software, I lost the keyboard and Wi-Fi. I tried resetting the computer and reloading the operating system three times without success. I took it to a Microsoft store, and the technician there was able to reload the operating system in about two hours. I installed an M2 SSD and used another reviewers advice to use EaseUS software to migrate the operating system. The EaseUS software didn't copy the recovery and system partitions and I wasn't able to create a System Image. I had to re-load the operating system again from a USB. The 4K screen didn't display the dialogue box for Office 2007 properly. I wasn't able to type in the key number. I had to learn to lower the screen resolution temporarily. After going through all that though, it is the best computer I have ever had. I am very impressed.
All you can want from a Laptop. Powerful processor, great graphics and 4K screen. Host of other useful features.
Bought this a few months ago for school. I love it, it is super fast and gets stuff done. It is great for playing games when I'm done with homework. Its always fast and does what I need. The keyboard feels great, the touchscreen is also very nice, and its easily portable. Love it.

Does everything I expected it to do
By JD Architect
First thing I noticed on this lap top is that it is very nicely built. I like the smooth texture on the laptop inside-out (The outside when its closed, and the keyboard when it's open). It just feels and looks nice. The Screen resolution is great! However, because the screen resolution is so high, some program's icons and other features are really tiny. I would not let this stop me from buying again. The fans are pretty quiet and only get a little noisy when they are turning full speed which is maybe 5% of the time. Start-up is very quick, maybe 15 seconds and you are looking at the desktop. The track pad buttons are a bit sensitive. The speakers can get very loud and the noise is crisp. Bass could be better, but sound is still really good. The speed is great and performance meets all my expectations. I am an architect and use all the typical office software along with some graphic CAD programs. I have had the laptop for about 2 weeks and would buy the laptop again. Simply stated, I just don't think I could get a better laptop for the price.

DO NOT PURCHASE
This nor any Dell is worth it. GOT MINE, was told could return. Had issues since day one. after that more issues, was told after 30ndays no more returns. I am not only one. In turn it freezes up, cord melted down battery over heats ect. Dell does not stand behind there computers. They even have a alter after your warranty is almost up that says renew, Micro soft says there drivers need up dateing. What and why did I get this headach. geez
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great machine with minor hiccups
I'll skip over the obvious and note some of the specific pros and cons that I have noticed after using it for three months. Pros: The finish is not very susceptible to fingerprint smudges as otherwise suggested with the FHD base model in many reviews around the Internet || Trackpad and touchscreen is responsive || Easy to upgrade, as back panel is only held with one screw || SSHD has the benefit of improving boot speeds and application loading speeds over time, but I do recommend installing a M.2 SSD, as the speeds increase dramatically || Speakers are loud || Keyboard travel is good Cons: At UHD 4K resolution, some Windows animations has lag. Also, some UWP apps lag too, such as Cut The Rope and Flipboard. Lag when scrolling in Chrome. This is not just me, search around the Internet and you will realize that other users are experiencing the same problem. || My trackpad came with a bit of travel (and makes a small thud sound) when tapped || Needs to install hardware updates out of the box, such as for the BIOS, and I believe even as a Signature Edition, it comes with Windows 10 10586, not 14393 (Anniversary Update) || As a suggestion, turn off "Share" in "GeForce Experience" to prevent weird pointer lag on desktop However, the cons are minor and I am impressed by the gorgeous touchscreen display and gaming performance for this price point. I am happy to have bought this and have been using it as a daily driver since.

Never buy a Dell product!!!. Dell has made their products in such a way that only Dell parts will fit it. And Dell parts are very expensive. No universal or standard parts fit if you want to upgrade.

New Dell Inspiron 15 i7559
Had an expected but untimely melt down of my old laptop. Desperate for a new machine Microsoft helped with this new one immediately. I shipped and arrived within two days, and worked straight from the box. Microsoft installed and setup a new version of Office on-line by remote access. Very happy with this service, it took less than an hour and was very efficient. This machine has handled all the software i require for business and so far has run perfectly. Using both graphics cards proved to be a little challenging in the beginning. Cortana helped a little, but i needed to refer to the web for more detailed explanations. However in the long run having two cards improves performance especially when running two programs concurrently, which talk to each other. Battery life has been good, and recharge is fast. The internal audio system is better than expected as well, although i only really use it for movies............ So all in all very happy with the new product.
Great machine for the price
Looked around and this gave us what we wanted for about $400 less. And the ability to add an ssd and keep the drive in it was great! Bought 2!
