after a month of use UHD Display - 3840x2160 very sharp with no light bleed-through. However, most console mode software still can't handle 3840x2160. After lowering resolution to HD mode (1920x1080), games work better. NVIDIA GPU - Choose default GPU using NVIDIA Control Panel "Manage 3D Setting" or with a right click. Intel GPU is fine for web browsing. Install latest Intel generic video drivers to eliminate minor video glitches. Hard disk - System has empty space for an m.2 SSD (SATA mode, not PCI-Express mode) (22mm by 80mm). Access to innards - Easy! Touchpad - Works well. To disable Touchpad if have a mouse connected, turn off "Leave touchpad on when mouse is connected" in "Mouse and Touchpad" settings in Settings / Devices. Similar option to fully disable Touchpad in Control Panel / "Windows Mobility Center." Keyboard - Works well, though key press travel is limited by chicklet style keyboard. WASD keys play games well. H and J keys get warm when gaming. Palm rest stays cool. Control FN multi-keys and key backlighting through Control Panel / "Windows Mobility Center." Backlighting turns off when if you stop typing for a bit and then restarts when you resume typing. CPU Fan - System fans do not turn on, except when gaming or doing something complex. System fans are noticeable, but not harsh, but will drown out normal speaker volume. An SSD will cut fan use when browsing. Memory - Ships with one 8GB memory chip (single channel DDR3L 1600MHz) with an empty slot for another 8Gb chip (system max is 16GB total). Two chips make system notably faster. Webcam - Uses Win10 "Camera" applet. Pictures are grainy. Microphones - Poor. Picks up system hiss, even with "Dell Audio" settings.

The body looks and feels like Alienware from inside and this is great laptop with excellent configuration. But the display lasted only 10 minutes and it just stopped. Got it replaced with a new laptop and no issues so far. Throw any current generation game at it, just handles it perfect as you expect. I would say, the laptop I received first was just a faulty product, but wouldn't it have been nice if I wasn't shipped a faulty product in first place? You purchase a product with high expectations and anyone would be heart broken to see this happen to their brand new laptop.

Best features I've found for the price.
Comments about Dell Inspiron 15 Gray Laptop Computer:
Purchased 2 weeks ago for general use and gaming. I've played halo wars 2, fallout 4, smite, skyrim special edition, and elder scrolls online with no problem on higher settings. You might have to drop the display resolution for some games but I can't really tell a difference when you do. Had a small issue with graphics card drivers after updating out of the box but I uninstalled and reinstalled them from Nvidia's website and problem solved. The battery is decent but if you play games on it I'd keep it plugged into the charger. I'd recommend upgrading the RAM if you get it but otherwise it's an excellent alternative to more expensive Alienware and etc. gaming laptops that isn't too flashy and runs pretty much anything you can throw at it when you play with the settings.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great Gaming/College Laptop!
I use this laptop every day for my college Computer Science/Computer Coding Classes! It runs very smoothly and is one heck of a powerhouse! I've found that it can run most games at 1080p 60+fps no problem! I've found that other AAA videogames have a bit of trouble running at 4k but I am just fine playing at 1080p! I've noticed scaling issues in many of my programs. I've noticed that when running Photoshop, Serato DJ, Virtual Dj 7, and a few other programs, that the gui and font is incredibly small. Almost unreadable! I tried disabling high dpi scaling but nothing works. keep this in mind when buying the 4k display version of the 7559. As of right now I have not found a fix for this issue (prefer external manifest/custom manifest files in the exe directories do not work like the internet suggests). But It's great for gaming, word processing, and pretty much anything else. Also the battery lasts a LONG TIME! I find that I can go all day while using this and the power saving option lasts me a good deal of time. Also, when the battery is in use and the laptop is not plugged in to the AC adapter, the Nvidia card will not be in use. Any program will run with the integrated Intel graphics. Make sure you bring your charger if you want to use that powerful graphics card that makes this thing so heavy, but overall, it is a great laptop,
Best budget laptop with high end configurations. Runs smoothly(no noise).

Since the last 10 days I am facing issues with the windows
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I have been using it for a month. Waiting for an upgade from Dell to double the ram. Great machine so far, versatile. Great screen and sound is pretty good also. I like the clean build, can add what I want.
Only thing that kept this from being an INSTANT success right out of the box, was getting acclimated to Windows 10, and that didn't take very long. Nice screen, graphics are terrific.

I bought this laptop a month ago so I would have mobile computing as my daughter took my other laptop. After the initial setup the computer downloaded updates and installed them. This took quite awhile and I was worried about the speed. The next day I turned it on and the speed was very good for 8 meg of memory. I did up- grade the memory to 16 megs which made a difference in overall speed. I like the overall looks and most features. One drawback is the NUM Lock key, you can't tell if it is on until you try to use the numeric keyboard. Other than that, great value and good speed for the money.
Touch and mouse clicks sometimes does not register
I've just bought this laptop and it is working really great but some times it doesn't register clicks and touch which is really annoying. I dnt know what's the matter because all of my drivers and everything else is totally up to date. And laptop also crashed once due to PC/2 compatible mouse driver issue and I don't know if that was a one time thing
Great Laptop overall
Had a Dell XPS laptop that is 7 years old. This new Dell laptop i7559 has been a great replacement. I have pleased with its performance and speed. The laptop has been a perfect replacement for an older Dell laptop. Microsoft not including the bloatware helps me to appreciate the laptop even more.
Great Computer For The Price
This is an excellent computer for the price. It has 4K screen resolution and is very fast I did have major problems at first. When I first turned it on, I got a message that the power supply wasn't recognized. I tried updating the drivers, but noticed the battery wasn't charging. I took the bottom off and found the battery wasn't plugged into the board properly. That problem was easily fixed. After loading half my software, I lost the keyboard and Wi-Fi. I tried resetting the computer and reloading the operating system three times without success. I took it to a Microsoft store, and the technician there was able to reload the operating system in about two hours. I installed an M2 SSD and used another reviewers advice to use EaseUS software to migrate the operating system. The EaseUS software didn't copy the recovery and system partitions and I wasn't able to create a System Image. I had to re-load the operating system again from a USB. The 4K screen didn't display the dialogue box for Office 2007 properly. I wasn't able to type in the key number. I had to learn to lower the screen resolution temporarily. After going through all that though, it is the best computer I have ever had. I am very impressed.
