This dishwasher cleans well and is quiet even without the sound package that came with it (installer advised not to install in case there ever is a leak). I love the stainless steel interior and the fact that it actually dries the dishes. I am frustrated by the setup of the racks. I could get a third more dishes in my old dishwasher. The bottom rack has a gap without tines between the rack for dishes and the two rows of tines toward the front. It is an awkward space that is hard to use as pans, etc. fall back and end up collecting water unless you can fit them in facing front, which is also awkward. Another row of tines would help. The top rack has spacing issues, as well. Also, it is supposed to have a food disposal. I wanted one because I dislike cleaning filters. This has two filters, so apparently, no disposal. I do rinse my dishes well, but still have to clean the main filter periodically as it is a fine mesh.

Our 13+ year old GE dishwasher died a few days before we were to leave on vacation. We decided to buy another GE because we have had really good luck with this brand. I wanted a stainless steel interior and something that would blend with my other ivory and black appliances. The problem with having a black dishwasher is that it also has black racks. It is hard to see into the dishwasher without pulling the racks out all the way. With my former model(white inside) I could often just open the door a little and load the item.. I don't like the new racks. The tines on the back row sit at an angle and cannot be adjusted. Smaller plates and items will not not fit in these spaces. It seems that this row is only designed for large plates. It is very quiet. I hope I will grow to like it more after i get used to the differences. I guess I had better since I'm stuck with it.

From bad to worse

Comments about GE 24" White Built-In Dishwasher:
After having GE Profile appliances for 14 years, I replace them all with another set of Profile ones. What a disaster. Every one has been replaced at least once. 2 of them, I'm on my 3rd in less than 1 month. My first dishwasher was as quiet as a church mouse. We really liked it except it kept building up lots of condensation on top of the controls and under the granite. It then would run down the front of it and would have to be constantly cleaned. It also kept indicating that it was low on rinse aid, even though it was as full as it could get. They just put the 2nd one in yesterday and it is worse. There is more water buildup on top of the control panel and under the granite, it is really loud, and it has a funky stink to it. Looks like it's #3 coming up soon. I will not be purchasing GE appliances again.

GE DISHWASHER STINKS

WE BOUGHT THIS DISHWASHER LAST DECEMBER TO REPLACE A GE DISHWASHER. THE NEW ONE IS DIFFICULT TO LOAD. THE RACKS ARE A DARK COLOR WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO FIND THINGS. IT DOESN'T HOLD LARGER ITEMS. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Cleans perfect and is very quiet.

So far so good, same drying problem
from New York, NY
Have had this now for about 3 months and so far happy with the washing performance. However we have the same issue with drying that seems to be a theme here, that is it just doesn't seem to fully dry everything. Dishes still have water on them even with the Power Dry mode enabled. Not sure if it's just that it doesn't have a traditional heating element that heats up after the wash. Our last dishwasher you had to pre-wash everything before you put it in, so with this one we have to post-dry everything when we take it out.
Poor design, ineffective cleaning, and WET!!
By expect better

This is a poor design: the top rack cannot be efficiently loaded with glassware, the bottom rack has a huge hurdle to overcome as you pull it out, the dishwashing soap does not dissolve and stays a globby mess in its dispenser, and EVERYTHING stays wet regardless of the "Power Dry" feature. A poor choice. VERY disappointed.
Nice & Quiet
My husband purchased this as a Christmas gift. It is so quiet you can barely tell it is running. My dishes as very clean also. i have no complaints.

Reviews said it was quiet and that is true, however it doesn't clean well, we now run it on heavy duty and it doesn't dry well. We are just two seniors so we don't have to run it often and after a couple days it also smells when you open it, probably from the moist environment.

Updated from a 1995 Sears Kenmore [which was still working] about 3 months ago. Amazed at how quiet it operates! Standing in kitchen with it running & can barely hear it. Cleans well. A little disappointed that the heated dry option must be selected or dishes will not be completely dry by next morning. Not sure how much extra elec that option requires. Overall very pleased with this dishwasher.
We have this one at work.
I hate this dishwasher with a passion. To add a spoon one must open the door all the way, pull out the tray, and insult to injury the spoon must be handle down. I can't imagine what they were thinking when they designed it.

After doing a lot of searching and comparing, I opted for the GE dishwasher in the Profile series. I was amazed with how quiet it runs. The capacity is fairly large and it does a good job at cleaning the dishes. My only complaint is that the controls are difficult to use because they sit on top of the door and the overhang from my countertop does not allow much room for my fingers to press the buttons. Other than that, I am very happy with my purchase. It also matches my other GE Profile appliances nicely.
