This combo microwave/convection oven replaced a microwave-only unit for us, and we are very happy with the additional convection features. The big drawback to this appliance, and the reason it doesn't merit five stars, is the text on the buttons, which is so faint that I occasionally have to shine a flashlight on the keypads to make out the text. As we learn the button setup, it becomes easier to remember which button does what, but this is a real flaw that should have been detected in the design process.

I purchased this new GE Profile Convection oven because I was so happy with the one I bought in year 2009 but this new one cannot compare to the older model. When closing the micro wave door it makes so much noise I am afraid I will wake my family up if I try to use it late at night or early morning.and it is a very annoying sound. It sounds like it was made from a piece of tin also.On the old one the wording was bold-now it is tiny and hard to read-harder to locate the item you want to use.The only thing you can actually read clearly is the big GE emblem at the top of the micro wave. The interior is black as with the old one in was silver which was much nicer.I was under the impression it was silver from something that I had read about the model but maybe I made a mistake on that. There is suppose to be two racks-well there is for the convection part of the micro oven-but one rack is round and on legs so high that I don't know what you would cook on the top of the rack it is so high not to far from the top of the oven. Very disappointed in this new profile model. I am a senior citizen and my money is limited so I try to invest in quality which I felt GE was-but I am very disappointed in this new profile convection/micro oven.

Comments about GE Profile Stainless Steel Over-The-Range Convection Microwave Oven:
Our last GE microwave burned out after 16 years. So we stuck with the same brand. Easy install, works great.

Convection Microwave - okay but not great
from Fort Myers, FL
We purchased this unit because we really liked a similar appliance we had at our previous home. However, this unit seems noisier when it is preheating (not a big deal), and we don't think it is cooking or baking evenly when it comes to pizza or cookies. Before calling for service, we will purchase an oven thermometer to check it out. The BEST feature is that using the convection bake cycle doesn't heat up the entire kitchen like a regular oven - and we were able to donate our countertop convection mini-oven to free up counter space.
Easy to use

I mostly use for reheating and warming and very satisfied with the results.

Saves ton of counter space. Missing numbers though.
Does it all

I'm very happy with this microwave. We have used the convection oven on several occasions when we were entertaining and it is invaluable. The dial cook time entry is quick and easy and food heats evenly. It was reasonably priced for this category and it looks great too!
Needed to replace old microwave convection oven and this product was a great choice. Easy to clean interior. Wonderful to be able to switch between microwave and convection when extra oven space is needed.

Very versatile once you figure out how to operate

I have found after using this unit for couple months there are things I wish I could do more easily, the reheat area is limited in choices, more choices would be helpful. Understanding how the microwave/convection area took a while to figure out two steps, works great. In my home I have two large microwaves which are used daily, rarely do I use my regular oven. Having a convection microwave is very helpful because it allows me to roast, bake without using the big electric oven.
Profile microwave convection oven.

I still think it is a little early for me to rate. It does appear to be louder than I would expect. And when I used the fan it works very well but it whistles. There appear to be a lot of nice features but I haven't used them all yet. I am hoping that's some of the noises will become less after use.

Have had for 2 months. Convection is a plus. I was in the market for just a microwave, but the rebates were better with this one. Very easy to use. Just dial whatever you need. Reheating leftovers on a plate is a breeze. Quick 30 Second button excellent for quick melting or heating. Lighting is great, with high and low settings. Fan is vented back into the kitchen and is a little noisy, but our old one was just as noisy. Old "Spacemaker" model from 1996 was smaller, this unit is larger and is 3 inches closer to the cook top, but it should be fine. Tried the convection to heat frozen fries, they came out fine. This is a good alternative to turning on your large oven for a smaller pan.
