First GE over the range microwave 1986. Second 2007, 21 years. Now 2016, 9 years. All same line and size. Worked well before so sticking with it. But I hope the lifetimes for decent, not heavy use, is not still going down. 1) Inside much darker; prefer lighter walls making food easier to monitor. 2) First model had a pull-out louver on the bottom to direct vapors from stove front burners as well as rear burners to be exhausted. Second model did not have the spring loaded louvers, but installers were able to transfer them to it. Third (current) model has contoured base shaped differently. The original GE louvers cannot be attached. Big disappointment. Models do have a higher (Boost) exhaust fan speed. Much appreciated. 3) Previous model had quick one push cook control 1-6 minutes. New one only 1-5 minutes. I would prefer whole keypad, 1-9 minutes, had one button cook capability. "Add 30 seconds one button" is good aid. Four Stars vice five stars simply because haven't yet put the microwave unit use beyond basic. So lack of own experience to rate more completely, but no problems are apparent.

Do not buy the JVM7195DK microwave. I bought two of these microwaves to replace two older GE microwaves which had both failed after 9 years of use. Both of the new microwaves function as expected. However, the glass plate does not stay on its spindle. After a 1/2 turn it slips off track and stops rotating. It appears that the problem lies with the plate support. There is a bezel on each wheel of the plate support and that bezel should ride the slope of the plate depression. The wheels are reversed and consequently, the square edge of the wheel rides the slope, the wheels being spread too wide causes the support to ride up the slope of the well, which causes the glass plate to ride too high and slip off its spindle. Design error, manufacturing error? In any case, the microwave is unusable unless you can tolerate hot spots in your food. I went to the store from which I bought these microwaves and looked at their floor model. Its plate support is the same as on my units. I suspect this is a problem with every model shipped. By the way, I tried using the plate support from my old microwave in the new microwave. The plate stayed on the spindle however, the old plate support is too small to keep the plate stable when you put weight on the edge of the plate. So, the problem is definitely the plate support. I'm giving this 1 star with the hope that GE will offer a reasonable and prompt solution to this problem. Until you read otherwise, you might consider avoiding this model.

Comments about GE Bisque Over-The-Range Microwave Oven:
The inside of the microwave is black, and it is very difficult to see inside while microwaving. I sometimes heat a liquid and want to make sure it is not boiling over, etc. Also, the words on the panel are indistinct and difficult to read. That may be a function of our age, but I didn't have that problem with my previous microwave.

Bought this last Christmas and installed immediately. Had GE appliances in our last house and never had issues for 14 years. New dishwasher installed yesterday and soon an oven/cooktop. Hopefully new fridge by summer. Love GE and the stainless looks great.

I have had this microwave 2 months and I love it! I especially like that you can mute button. I have never seen that feature before. And it wasn't overly expensive.
Great Look and Simple Features

I like that this microwave has a simple amount of buttons but offers a good amount of cooking options. I don't like how many other microwaves have a lot of silly options. It looks great too!
So far so good

After our previous GE microwave we loved finally died after 8 years, we purchased this one. So far, it is working as well as our last one. I liked the control layout of our previous model but this one is functional. Only complaint so far is that the exhaust fan is very noisy.
GE Microwave with Sensor

We first replaced our old over the range microwave with one without a sensor. That was a mistake. This microwave cooks everything just the way we like it.
no light to read panel, numbers blend into microwave

Very nice microwave. Reason i did not give 5 star is because, our old GE microwave (2007 model) had solid construction. The newer ones design wise looks a little cheap. The stainless steel coat is lot thinner and appears flimsy. The old GE microwaves control panel stopped responding after 10 years of use. so definitely very durable.
I've been using this since last week and am satisfied with it so far. Nice design!
