Comments about Panasonic White Amplified Cordless Phone With Digital Answering Machine:
I bought this primarily for the call blocking feature, and so far, it is working fine. The problem that will probably eventually occur is reaching the phone's stated limit of only 250 blocked numbers. The first few days, I was adding up to about a dozen scammer/robocaller numbers per day, and it has successfully blocked them since. But after about 2 weeks, I'm still adding about 4 or 5 new bad numbers per day, so at this rate, it won't be all that long before I hit the 250 limit. I would much prefer a limit well into the thousands, or better yet, a similar "whitelist" phone. (i.e., where you would enter the only phone numbers that you don't want to block. A 250 whitelist limit would probably be sufficient.) The "boost" feature and related claims of 40 or 50 dB are not much more than marketing nonsense. As any competent engineer will tell you, a value in dB (decibels) is only meaningful if a reference value is specified, and none is specified in this case. With the boost off, the volume is slightly lower than my old cordless phone. With boost on, the volume is only modestly higher than my old phone. I would estimate the difference between off and on at not more than about 10 dB. Increasing the boost value above about 30 just produces saturation and distortion, which is counter-productive for somebody hard of hearing. I don't really need this boost feature, but in my opinion, marketing claims of how good it is are greatly exaggerated. Everything else about the phone and answering machine seems to work fine. There are a few things in the user interface that I might have designed differently, but that's really nothing significant. I needed to look up some things in the user manual, but most of the user interface is fairly straightforward and reasonably easy to use. The font sizes used on the buttons and display are big enough for my middle-aged eyes, which is a feature that I appreciate.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is for my older mom who has a harder time on traditional phone. This does inhance the volume. It even slows down the incoming voice. Has 3 memory dials which is wonderful. A great phone for anyone who a bit hard of hearing.
