Comments about Samsung 30" Stainless Steel Induction Cooktop:
This was purchased as a replacement induction cooktop for my mother's kitchen. I mention the dim LEDs and low volume because she's a older cook, and I didn't want the functionality to be impaired. I will not comment on induction cooking in general, because it's widely covered online. However, Samsung's foray into cooktops is new, and as such there is not much in the way of reliability. Suffice it to say that it was a gamble to purchase this. Induction cooktops seem to have a shelf life of 7-10 years. As such, I bought the extended warranty. Samsung seems to have good general appliance reliability as measured by professional reviewers. I hope this holds true. The appliance itself works well. My mother likes the magnetic knob, but note that the knob I received resembles "black stainless", and doesn't exactly match the traditional stainless bezel. I don't know if this is a mistake or by design. Also the knob response time is not as good as if you use your finger. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth seems gimmicky, and is unused, but Samsung is known for "techy" add-ons...I also own Samsung TVs. I wanted the installation manual ahead of time, but Samsung wasn't much help (website or customer service), however the Abt representative was immensely helpful in that regard. I installed this myself as a DIY'er, but if you go this route be particularly sure of what you're doing. High voltage isn't for the faint of heart. It did install as expected, and thus far is working well. The LED display is dim compared to competitors' models, especially under the light of a range hood. And the volume for the sound can be turned off, but not up. Again, in a noisy environment this could be disappointing. [note: A similar review I posted on the Samsung website was not published, I think because they are sensitive to critical reviews or complaints. Something to keep in mind.]
Service and delivery comments:
Again, the Abt Electronics customer service was great. My unit was sent without the magnetic knob, and my rep was able to get it to me quickly. The item was packaged well, and arrived from Abt as soon as it was available from Samsung. (It had to be ordered.)
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
