I was first introduced to this product in Europe, I believe it is German made, and just like their cars, the engineering is superb. The design is simple, elegant and functions better than any cheese cutter you have ever used. You will wonder how you ever managed without it. I purchased this one for my son who is just setting up house on his own and had been use to finding this in the utensil drawer at home. It was hard to find and more expensive than I expected, but believe me, it is worth it....they last forever
