This product is hyped as crafted in Germany, but is actually made in China per the label affixed to it. Also, the product webpage states the can opener is dishwasher safe but included instructions state to wash by hand. Further misleading consumers is a rave review by Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen.
Worst, this "safety" can opener leaves tiny silver flecks all over the rim of can! I can't imagine pouring the contents out and eating the metal remnants; this must be unsafe.
I highly recommend this product be recalled.

This can opener works very well. It takes a little getting used to because it is so easy. All you really have to do is set it on the edge of the can and start cranking. It pretty much catches the edge itself and is so easy to crank that it can be hard to believe that it is working. Because it severs the seal around the side of the lid, instead of actually cutting through metal, it is much easier to turn than a traditional can opener.

It would be great for people who have arthritis, but could use a little fatter main handle and cranking handle to be totally ideal.

It's single handle design is very sleek and stores beautifully without cluttering up kitchen drawers.

This can opener works great but it was difficult to figure out how to use it, and the instructions weren't very clear. My mom and I almost gave up on it and thought it must be a scam, because it just didn't seem to work for us. Then we realized the trick is not to push down on it like you would with a traditional can opener; it opens the can by cutting the metal edge close to the top, not at the bottom like other can openers do. The rim of the can has to be between the wheel of the opener and the plastic part, but you shouldn't push the wheel into the can; just hold it in place and don't try to hard and it will work. Once we figured out how to use it, we loved it, but my grandmother still doesn't understand how to use it. So if you're getting this for an older person who has trouble getting used to new things, you might want to look at a more conventional model.
