there is a new version of this dishwasher that has a stainless interior which I read was much quieter.

Maybe all the dishwashers have this feature, but I've been waiting for a dishwasher to let me know whether the load that's in there is clean or dirty. The little red light that indicates "clean" is a huge help! (Of course, if my husband chose to push the button off, I'd never know for sure.) So far, this dishwasher is so quiet, sometimes I've asked myself whether it's on. However, I'm not sure if it's the dishwasher or if it has to do with hooking up the pipes, but whenever the dishwasher drains itself of water, it does make a loud noise. Otherwise, cleans well, looks great and is mostly silent.
