I love this unit

I bought this, even though it was pricey, because it fit my needs. Some of the older comments were not favorable, but I ignored them. They didn't make sense. I am really glad I bought this. The top part is handy for drinks and most refrigerated items. The freezer is very useful. One thing that is strange -- if you open the freezer, close it, and then immediately try to reopen it, the door is very difficult to open. I am told that this is normal operating function. If you need a garage freezer with a small refrigerator, buy this.

This has to be the best Garage freezer ever made. I have had this unit going on about 6 months now, and it has worked flawlessly. once the roller feet were attached and the freezer in place (one man job) it was good to go.tons of storage options. and the refer on top is indispensable. we have a large counter depth SxS in the house and the overflow from Costco now has a place. its good looks in the garage are amazing and for those so inclined gladiator has a full line of matching workshop grade shelving/storage units that match this awesome unit.the ONLY complaint i could come up with it the REFER section is a bit cold, but once the unit stabilized the temperature it has been perfect, no freezing, just keep the lettuce away from the blower vent. [...]Finally, being a whirlpool unit (my repairman says if you dont want to see him buy whirlpool made units) I expect a long lasting relationship with this freezer.

If you are looking for a stand alone freezer with the added benefit of some refrigerator space for beverages, this is the product for you. We keep it in the garage. We love it. It's the only product we found that had more freezer than frig space. It's looks great in the garage too.

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Having the majority of the space as a freezer while still having a fridge is a great concept. Haven't seen anybody else do this and it meets our needs. Based on some of the breakdown stories I bought the 4 year extended warranty. So far it's working well. A few cons: 1) the fan is veryy loud (I can actually hear it in the adjacent bedroom). So the garage is the only place you'll be using this. 2) It's not very energy efficient (listed as 770KWh per year). 3) The fridge shelf is not height adjustable. 4) The "tread plate" design is not real tread plate (minor item but I was still a bit disappointed). For a fridge at this price you'd expect at least the noise and energy efficiency to be taken care of.

I like that I can convert the upper portion to a refrigerator or use it as a freezer depending on the current needs I have. It is great to have additional refrigerator space for parties, family get togethers, etc.

Perfect Freezer for Garage

This is one of the best purchases I've made in awhile..So far it works great... Wish I would have bought it ten years ago. Very handy because you can move it very easily for garage clean up.We use the top part as a extra refrigerator... Works out great when milk and other things are on sale... We can stock up on pop and keep it cold. Lot's of room in top and bottom... We got it so we could buy extras and stay stocked up. We have a side by side in the house and never had enough room after a trip to [...] or [...].. You can hear the freezer run....It's not real loud, but I think that part will come in handy is case I trip a breaker and don't realize it... It's on a line with out side lights and might not notice right away... I can't hear it run in the house only if I'm in the garage. It looks very cool in garage.. Ordered it one day and had it sitting in the garage on the forth day.... I would highly recommend this freezer.... Great if you have no room in the house for freezer. Much easier go out to attached garage then up and down steps to the basement....

We were looking for a way to keep our garden surplus but to also have a bit extra fridge use. This suits the bill. I don't think it is rated as energy star efficient and it is quite noisy so now I'm wondering if something is wrong with it. It came quickly and has a lot of room and is easy to clean around. All refrigerators should have those big wheels.

We have been using the freezerator in our garage for the past month. It's been the perfect addition to our garage. We go to costco once a month and it only takes up half the space in the freezerator. It's layed out super nicer in the main freezer area. We also love how you can fit 24 cans or bottles in the refrigerator door on the upper compartment which leaves room for 4 gallons of milk with half the space still available. I recomment this to anyone who needs a deep freezer fridge that is perfect for inside but really shines in the garage since it's made to compensate for high temps of summer or low temps of winter.

Top too cold and seals not great

NIce looking and a great idea but from day 1 the top (refrigerator) section is too cold -- even at the lowest (i.e. warmest) setting. It freezes drinks. Also, after 18 months, the refrigerator seal came loose and is difficult to reinstall resulting in significant loss of cooling. Not very energy efficient in the first place.

Great when it works!

Originally purchased last July 2007. Worked fine initially, and it gave me ample room for frozen food storage with the top portion for drinks the unit itself is well sorted. In May of 2008 it started not cooling, I called for service under warranty and it was fixed so we thought only to have the same problem again a month later. It was then fixed again for the same thing now here it is again exactly a month later and it's not cooling again finally [...] called Whirlpool to let them know it's the same problem and it cannot be fixed. I am now waiting for Whirlpool to contact me to replace the unit. I'm done with the Freezerator now just want the Chillerator so my frozen food will no longer be spoiled. So far Whirlpool has been good will see if they follow through with a replacement. Wish me luck. It seems that out of alot of these units I might have gotten a dud, but would still purchase another Whirlpool product if they stand behind their product.

We replaced our old freezer with this product. It's great because of the dual capacity. We have the best of both worlds and find our foods are better preserved. More energy efficient and easy to move with the large casters that can be removed if you desire. Well worth the price.

Overall very happy with purchase. Louder than a normal freezer but it is designed for a garage so it is not an issue for me. Very flexible storage. Really like refrigerator section for overflow from kitchen. Nice beverage storage on the door (holds 24 cans).

When my old garage freezer went out, I needed to find a replacement. I had no idea that anyone made a freezer with a refrigerator section on top. Perfect for the (2) pack gallon milk at Costco. I don't like those compact refrigerators because I have never seen one that was auto defrost. Excellent product that fit my needs perfectly.

This freezer/ refrigerator is perfect for a family that has one in the garage. Regular refrigerators do not work well in unheated garages, but this unit is built just for that. Storage is very flexible, and the upper compartment can be used as either a refrigerator or as a freezer. It is great!!!

Freezerator is a great thing!

I love it. Big freezer section for all those club store purchases. Refrigerator section is great for indoor refer overflow and drinks. Refer door holds a CASE of can drinks or bottled water cold and at the ready, easy grab and go on the way out to the car. This unit is not Energy Star compliant but the compressor runs 1/4 of the time of my last garage freezer - It's got to be saving energy.

Best Uses:	Keeps food frozen HARD, Beverages
