We just replaced a 30-year old cooktop with this one. We've only had it installed for a few days, and it seems to be working great except that we cannot figure out how to use the "power boil" to quickly boil a tea kettle of water. Most important and disappointing, THE USER'S MANUAL FOR THIS COOKTOP DOES NOT HAVE ONE WORD ABOUT THE POWER BOIL FEATURE!!! But since the dual surface element has the words "Power Boil" written outside the outer ring, we assumed that the High setting on both of those elements would "power" boil. In practice, however, it seems to work only with the outer element, which means that it could not be used with any standard sized tea kettle. So I guess it will be great for boiling spaghetti or something else in a very large pot, but not for everyday quick boiling. As an aside, GE's website shows in the product overview for this cooktop, that the dual elements are 5" and 8", but in fact they are 6" and 9". Since I have one small pan that I frequently use, that was one of the selling points for me; so I am disappointed by that misrepresentation. I am writing this review in hopes that GE's documentation staff will be made aware of the fact that a selling-point feature is NEVER explained or even mentioned in the User Manual. I'm hoping that the cooktop will otherwise be a good purchase, and that it will serve as well as my old one did. It is very pretty. :)

I had to replace the GE smooth cooktop that we've had since 2000 because my son broke the glass. This cooktop is essentially the same, but I've found that it's harder to clean. My old one had a slightly textured surface and a lot of white speckles on it. Because this one is so shiny and doesn't have the same surface as the old one, it shows every spot, spill and scorch. It never, ever looks clean. Neither the cooktop cleaner that came with it nor my old, reliable Barkeeper's Friend help. It's still better than coils though.

17 years later we bought the same cooktop.

Comments about GE 30" Built-In Electric Cooktop In Stainless Steel:

When we did a kitchen remodel recently, we purchased a similar GE profile cooktop that we had purchased 17 years prior. (Although it was still working, we wanted to update our kitchen with the new product.) We are so pleased with our new cooktop.

Comments about GE 30" Built-In Electric Cooktop In Stainless Steel:

I am thrilled with the new stove top. Our other stove top had the trays that would never get clean and looked horrible. With our new stove top, it is one to three and it is clean. Awesome!!!b

It heats much faster than my old stove, which took some getting use to, however I like it a lot.

Love it!

By Kathy200

Comments about GE 30" Built-In Electric Cooktop In Stainless Steel:

This stove top was easily installed by my husband; looks great; heats quickly and cooks well with steady heat. I found that the only thing you have to watch for is when you have something to keep warm - the warm setting will continue to simmer whatever is on that burner, so the heat may need further lower adjustment. Otherwise, I use this top the same way I used my old electric: I DO use my coated cast iron, and my metal heat diffusers on this surface, and there are no ill effects. I am careful to leave them in one spot and not "scrape" them on the top.

Original stovetop (GE) failed after 30 years, replaced with this one. Kind of pricey, but the product is well worth it. Very effiecient and low maintainence

Beautiful Appearance

Comments about GE 30" Built-In Electric Cooktop In Stainless Steel:

Very happy with this cooktop, our first. We remodeled our kitchen in July and installed all new appliances. This replaced a GE electric stove. Like the features and appearance, just wish it had soft-touch buttons instead of knobs.
