I am really disappointed. We did a bunch of research before buying our Viking mixer and really thought we were getting the best mixer on the market for household use. We got it in February and I had to send it in for a much needed repair by May. The repair was swift, but we have only had it back a few weeks and the hinge is already coming loose again.

The hinge where the head tilts comes loose to a point that the head begins to bob around. I have followed the manufacturers recommendations about 4 lb. max weight - My heaviest bread recipe came in at 3.5 lbs. I even cut my bread recipes in half after the mixer came back from repair. The hinge is coming loose again and we are sending it back for a refund!

Leaning toward a Cuisinart for now until we can save for a Hobart.

We are really disappointed as we really loved our mixer initially and we bought the blender to go with it too - now we will have to repace that too.

I love this mixer. We have had it for about 1 month and already cannot remember what we did without it! My only complaint is that the bowl is very hard to take out (for both me and my husband) We have tried flipping the bowl pad over and it had not helped. I called customer service once, but have not called again. Hopefully it will loosen with wear.

As far as working quietly: the mixer has 800 watts! what can one expect?? We don't mind the sound - I would not call it quiet, but I would not call it loud either. I probably would not run it if I were entertaining, that is all.
