Jura-Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, Model 560BK

Why Grind Beans at Home?
Grinding just before brewing will protect the aroma of your coffee. Ground coffee interacts with the air around it and, within hours, loses a great deal of flavor and aroma. The longer the ground coffee sits around, the less aroma you will find in your cup later.

  • Only grind what you need now. Don’t grind for the whole week!
  • Once the beans are out of an airtight packaging, keep them in a dry, dark container with a tight closing lid.

Conical Burr Grinders preserve the most aroma and can grind very fine and very consistent. The intricate design of the steel burrs allow a high gear reduction to slow down the grinding speed. The slower the speed the less heat is imparted to the ground coffee thus preserving maximum amount of aroma.

Because of the wide range of grind settings these grinders are ideal for all kinds of coffee equipment, Espresso, Drip, Percolators, French Press. The better Conical Burr Grinders can also grind extra fine for the preparation of Turkish coffee. Grinding speed is generally below 500 rpm.

Features And Benefits:

  • Extremely wide range from Turkish fine to coarse for all kinds of coffee preparation.
  • Clearly marked fineness settings, 4 each for extra fine, fine, regular and coarse. A total of 16 settings.
  • Commercial grade solid conical steel burrs with advanced cutting design for high precision grinding.
  • Gear reduction motor grinds slow with reduced noise and little static build-up.
  • Slowest grinding speed in its class creates less friction and heat build up preserving maximum aroma and flavor in any grind setting.
  • Safety lock system.
  • Upper conical burr removable for easy cleaning.
  • Tight fitting ground coffee container (holds up to 4 oz. of ground coffee)
  • See through bean container holds up to 8.8 oz. of beans
  • Timer can be set to grind from 5 to 60 seconds.
  • Pulse grinding possible (see below “How Things Work”).
  • Elegant, timeless and user friendly design.
  • Cleaning brush and measuring scoop included.
  • Sturdy ABS plastic housing
  • Black finish

How Things Work:

  • The Infinity Burr Grinder will only grind when the black dot on the bean container points to one of the fineness settings. Turn the timer and grinding starts instantly.
  • Turning the bean container marking (black dot) outside of the fineness settings will stop the grinding immediately. Turning it back to the desired fineness will resume grinding as long as the timer is still running. (Pulse Grinding).

Note: Make sure the bean container is empty before removing it from the base. Otherwise beans will scatter around!

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
This is the first coffee bean grinder I've ever purchased. I did some research before purchasing it and I believe after using this grinder for a month, it is a first class appliance. It's quiet, quick, and easy to use. The hopper easily holds the ground beans we need and is ergonomically designed for pouring them into the coffee maker's basket easily. I haven't found any problems with the unit so far. We did need to experiment with the fineness setting a bit to get the right grind but it's been coffee nirvana since we found it. The coffee we brew actually taste better now than when we used the "grinder" that is built into our coffee maker. Two thumbs way up.

This is the second time I've purchased this grinder. I was well-satisfied with the first and it was used hard over 4 years. I screwed up and did not align the dots properly and consequently broke it, otherwise it would still be in use. I found that if I was using less oily beans once a week was sufficient for cleaning the grinding mechanism; once every other day for oily beans. There is a design deficiency that can be easy be corrected in that a bean invariably lodges on the top of the main grinder. A simple plastic cap would eliminate this problem. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to others.

This grinder has given new meaning to a great cup of coffee. I had been having my fresh beans ground once a week at the coffee shop. Brew correctly but with no bite. Because of a chronic medical condition I have diminished senses of smell and taste. I now smell the coffee and taste every drop. I was not willing to spend over $100 for a burr grinder If you use a paper filter, line the receptacle with it and then just put the filter into the brewing basket. NO MESS! Quiet, easy to use and with 16 settings you get just the right consistency of grinds.

We press two double espressos every morning. We previously owned a Krups burr grinder and a Braun burr grinder. The Jura-Capresso Infinity grinder is quieter than either of the previous two grinders, and 3 to 4 times faster (so even though it's noisy, it's not noisy for long). The grind is very consistent and so are our espressos. I highly recommend this grinder.

For home use, our Mazzer has been incredible. But when we started full timing on our RV we wanted something smaller and much lighter weight. Plus we have had to accept that if we want an espresso we'll have to either use our little mocha pot (which doesn't require a fine, packable grind) or buy it... we have no room for an espresso machine. There are several products that are similar to the B&D burr grinder and by all accounts they suffer from the same design fault: when you dump the coffee, the grind explodes in all directions leaving some in the brew basket, but the rest has to be wiped off counters, hands and all the secret hiding places for ground coffee. Equally frustrating, the burr design is lacking and the grind size is very inconsistent. We might as well use a cheapo chopper design. The Jura-Capresso Infinity resolves the issues we had. Low speed grinding seems to virtually eliminate the static charge which otherwise blasts coffee out of the catch bin. And the control of grind size and its consistency rivals that of our Mazzer Mini. In fact, thanks to the excellent control of the grind we were able reduce the amount of beans by about 15% to get the same strength drink. We haven't tried it for espresso, so I can't comment about that. But I plan to pull a few shots the first chance I get. I believe this grinder just might do it all! My only gripe is the timer. I find a timer for controlling the motor more of a nuisance than a help, but others may see it differently. However, I found if I rotate the timer half an increment I can control the motor directly without engaging the timer mechanism, so I have a way around it. The Capresso Infinity is an amazing product. If you're looking for a small and light weight burr grinder that pretty much does it all, don't waste your $$$ on the wannabes that weigh more and don't work as well.
Pros: Consistent Grind, Easy To Use, No static electricity
Best Uses: Everyday, Office, Home, Weekends

I'm sitting down to my first home made latte after using the Jura-Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, and now I see that the grind has alot to do with the flavor.I have made homemade latte's for about 6 years with my cheap high speed grinder, never knowing why somtimes they would taste so bitter. The first time you use it you will notice the arroma, like you just walked into one of those 5$ a-cup coffee shops. I'm a very mechanical person, and Ican tell you this thing is built well. It's heavy which tells me it's motor is large, and should never burn out just grinding coffee. Everything that assembles together is very simple and easy to use' I really like that the top Conical Burr is easy to remove for cleaning. If you love coffe the way God intended ,but don't want to keep for paying 5$ coffee's you will make the investment.

I primarily use it at the coarse settings for French Press coffee. Make sure you read the directions about how to attach the plastic coffee bean dispenser so you don't break the plastic. If you aren't careful about inserting it, you could easily break this piece. Cleaning isn't the easiest but I don't think that any other grinder would be any easier to clean. So far, no complaints.

This is my second burr grinder - my first one died after 4 years of daily use without cleaning it once (oops!). It's perfect for everyday drip coffee or machine brewed coffee, and decent for espresso. At the price level, you can't beat it. To get the next level up in quality, you would have to shell out >$200. Note on the color schemes: Black isn't as beautiful as the stainless steel model (which is what my first one was) -- but it's also quite a bit lighter. The stainless one is a bit of a beast and somewhat awkward to move around when you have to clean the countertop.

I began drinking espresso-based drinks when a friend started his own coffee-roasting company and got me hooked on his espresso blend. Upon his recommendation, I finally gave up my blade grinder and purchased a burr grinder. I noticed a thicker creme the first time a used it (I use the fourth fineness setting). The grinder seems very solidly built (even the plastic parts) and easy to use. The only trick I've found is that since all of the ground coffee does not find its way into the container, I shake it a bit, angled towards the container, once the grinding is finished. A very reasonable price, considering that you can spend more on a device to grind your coffee than you may have spent on the device that makes your coffee.

I love the grinder except for one thing: I put the top burr section (removable for cleaning) in upside down by mistake. When you do that and set the hopper on top, it can force the tabs of the burr section into the side of the grinder housing surrounding the lower burr. The only way I could get it out again was to force it with a screwdriver. A couple of times doing this (for example, if a guest accidently does the same thing) and the small plastic tabs on the upper burr section are likely to snap off.

This is the top-rated burr grinder on-line, and I can see why. It is efficient, has a large hopper, not too noisy and it is easy to disassemble for cleaning. The only downside? Grind markers run coarser than stated, so you will probably want a fine grind for drip coffee, unless you don't like strong coffee anyway.

Grinder works great! It grinds the coffee evenly and fast. Only thing negatiive I can say is that it is hard to completely clean out all of the grinds from the inside of the grinder. There are small amounts of grinds that gather in small tight places that are hard to reach and wipe out. Would have gave this a five star if not for that!

If your currently using a blade grinder, you really owe it to yourself to upgrade and get one of these high quality, but reasonably priced "burr" grinders. From the consistency of the grind to the complete lack of ear spitting noise this is the one you've been looking for. I would highly recommend this product.

Early on, but so far, no complaints. It's quite a bit quieter than my previous burr grinder. A nice compromise between quality of grind and total price. I did a lot of research before purchasing this model, and frankly to step up in quality much, it is a serious jump in price. I decided not to go for the model with the metal housing, which turned out to be the right choice from a price/return standpoint. Fairly easy to clean, and I've found setting that work very well with both my drip coffee maker, as well as our espresso machine. Well done.

I had a blade grinder for quite some time. I always wondered if a better grinder would make a difference in taste. This one had good reviews and was very reasonable compared to most. I am happy to say that it made a difference on the first pot and I will try different grinds (this one will do a bunch) over time to see what works best for my coffeemaker. If you enjoy coffee and have a blade grinder or no grinder at all this would be a good unit for you. I also use oily beans and had no problem with clogging. Only reason I did not rate it perfect is I will probably never have anything to compare it to. No need! Enjoy!

We bought this grinder to replace our old one, which was also a Capresso. The design of the receiver bin is one improvement. One design change we feel is a negative is that the volume of beans ground is now coupled directly to the timer. Previously, the volume of beans ground could be set, a button pushed and the selected amount of coffee was ground. Now, it is only by experimentation that one determines how many seconds correspond to the volume of coffee one wants. Keeping track of the timer settings and coffee amounts requires a score card. That said, the grinder is very quiet and the grind is uniform. Our last grinder lasted > 4 years; may this one do the same.

Quiet and efficient, this grinder does a great job. There are too problems. First, if you aren't careful to keep the channel to the collection container from stopping up. Don't allow the coffee to fill the collector. Second, it is very tough to clean effectively as most of the oily residue is in a small area where no rinsing is allowed. Finally, be careful not to accidentally put the burr back into the machine upside down. It is easy to do and very difficult to get out again without damaging anything.

Always a consistent grind with many choices from fine to coarse. I grind the night before (not recommended in the book) during the work week and the taste is still very very good. Only two issues for me: A little noisy and it vibrates just enough to loosen the ground coffee container while grinding. I find myself holding a finger against it until the timer runs out.
