Jura-Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, Model 560BK

Why Grind Beans at Home?
Grinding just before brewing will protect the aroma of your coffee. Ground coffee interacts with the air around it and, within hours, loses a great deal of flavor and aroma. The longer the ground coffee sits around, the less aroma you will find in your cup later.

  • Only grind what you need now. Don’t grind for the whole week!
  • Once the beans are out of an airtight packaging, keep them in a dry, dark container with a tight closing lid.

Conical Burr Grinders preserve the most aroma and can grind very fine and very consistent. The intricate design of the steel burrs allow a high gear reduction to slow down the grinding speed. The slower the speed the less heat is imparted to the ground coffee thus preserving maximum amount of aroma.

Because of the wide range of grind settings these grinders are ideal for all kinds of coffee equipment, Espresso, Drip, Percolators, French Press. The better Conical Burr Grinders can also grind extra fine for the preparation of Turkish coffee. Grinding speed is generally below 500 rpm.

Features And Benefits:

  • Extremely wide range from Turkish fine to coarse for all kinds of coffee preparation.
  • Clearly marked fineness settings, 4 each for extra fine, fine, regular and coarse. A total of 16 settings.
  • Commercial grade solid conical steel burrs with advanced cutting design for high precision grinding.
  • Gear reduction motor grinds slow with reduced noise and little static build-up.
  • Slowest grinding speed in its class creates less friction and heat build up preserving maximum aroma and flavor in any grind setting.
  • Safety lock system.
  • Upper conical burr removable for easy cleaning.
  • Tight fitting ground coffee container (holds up to 4 oz. of ground coffee)
  • See through bean container holds up to 8.8 oz. of beans
  • Timer can be set to grind from 5 to 60 seconds.
  • Pulse grinding possible (see below “How Things Work”).
  • Elegant, timeless and user friendly design.
  • Cleaning brush and measuring scoop included.
  • Sturdy ABS plastic housing
  • Black finish

How Things Work:

  • The Infinity Burr Grinder will only grind when the black dot on the bean container points to one of the fineness settings. Turn the timer and grinding starts instantly.
  • Turning the bean container marking (black dot) outside of the fineness settings will stop the grinding immediately. Turning it back to the desired fineness will resume grinding as long as the timer is still running. (Pulse Grinding).

Note: Make sure the bean container is empty before removing it from the base. Otherwise beans will scatter around!

Well-made grinder

Best Uses: Everyday
Cons: See review
Pros: Versatile, Consistent Grind, Durable, Large Hopper, Easy To Use, Reliable
I began drinking espresso-based drinks when a friend started his own coffee-roasting company and got me hooked on his espresso blend. Upon his recommendation, I finally gave up my blade grinder and purchased a burr grinder. I noticed a thicker creme the first time a used it (I use the fourth fineness setting). The grinder seems very solidly built (even the plastic parts) and easy to use. The only trick I've found is that since all of the ground coffee does not find its way into the container, I shake it a bit, angled towards the container, once the grinding is finished. A very reasonable price, considering that you can spend more on a device to grind your coffee than you may have spent on the device that makes your coffee.

Describe Yourself: Coffee Aficionado
Pros: Easy To Use, Consistent Grind
Best Uses: Everyday, Home
Cons: Small Hopper
I use the coffee grinder every day to prepare very fine grind for espresso machine use. The bean hopper holds a generous amount of beans, but must be empty of beans to remove and clean. The hopper is somewhat small and has a tendency to vibrate out of the recess.
Great product with one design flaw.

Pros: Consistent Grind, Easy To Use, Large Hopper, Stylish, Versatile, Reliable, Durable
Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Best Uses: Weekends, Everyday, Home
I love the grinder except for one thing: I put the top burr section (removable for cleaning) in upside down by mistake. When you do that and set the hopper on top, it can force the tabs of the burr section into the side of the grinder housing surrounding the lower burr. The only way I could get it out again was to force it with a screwdriver. A couple of times doing this (for example, if a guest accidently does the same thing) and the small plastic tabs on the upper burr section are likely to snap off.

Pros: Consistent Grind, Easy To Use
Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Cons: Messy
Best Uses: Weekends
Very good grinder, quite and easy to clean which is necessary as it makes mess after use. I place grider on a mat and collect all of the grinds from the hopper and the grinders onto it. If you grind everyday then this is not for you.

Does the job well for the money invested. You can spend much more and still not have any better grinding results. I wish that the grounds cup were not plastic, to cut down on static electricity and reduce "dust" everywhere.

By Kaffee Kat from northwestern PA on 04/7/2009.
Describe Yourself: Coffee Aficionado
Cons: Grinds run coarse
Best Uses: Home, Everyday
Pros: Large Hopper, Consistent Grind, Easy To Use, Reliable, A snap to clean
This is the top-rated burr grinder on-line, and I can see why. It is efficient, has a large hopper, not too noisy and it is easy to disassemble for cleaning. The only downside? Grind markers run coarser than stated, so you will probably want a fine grind for drip coffee, unless you don't like strong coffee anyway.

By Joe from NJ on 03/30/2009.
Pros: Durable, Consistent Grind, Large Hopper, Versatile, Stylish, Reliable, Easy To Use
Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Best Uses: Everyday, Home
Cons: Hard to clean completely
Grinder works great! It grinds the coffee evenly and fast. Only thing negatiive I can say is that it is hard to completely clean out all of the grinds from the inside of the grinder. There are small amounts of grinds that gather in small tight places that are hard to reach and wipe out. Would have gave this a five star if not for that!

We've recently started an online coffee business and needed a quality burr grinder to test out our whole bean coffee. I did my online reaseach and I am very happy with my choice. If your currently using a blade grinder, you really owe it to yourself to upgrade and get one of these high quality, but reasonably priced "burr" grinders. From the consistency of the grind to the complete lack of ear spitting noise this is the one you've been looking for. I would highly recommend this product.

Look. If you don't have fresh ground coffee beans to make your Joe, then no drip, press, espresso, perk, or whatever machine will help you get a quality fix. Fresh ground coffee beans are the ticket to Java heaven, and this grinder deals the goods, in style. As for Value? Can't be beat. Compare with others side by side and you'll choose this one every time. As for Performance? Reliable, quiet operation...Versatile and consistent range of grind selections...Stable and well built. As for Maintenance? Don't they all have the static issue? This one easily comes apart to brush clean and prep for the next load. Like anything, ya gotta keep up with it...going a month without cleaning and ANY grinder will fight back. Buy and use with extreme confidence!

Quiet, and a nice grind for the price
By A Seattle coffee drinker from Seattle, WA on 02/3/2009.
Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Pros: Reliable, Easy To Use, Consistent Grind, Versatile, Large Hopper
Early on, but so far, no complaints. It's quite a bit quieter than my previous burr grinder. A nice compromise between quality of grind and total price. I did a lot of research before purchasing this model, and frankly to step up in quality much, it is a serious jump in price. I decided not to go for the model with the metal housing, which turned out to be the right choice from a price/return standpoint. Fairly easy to clean, and I've found setting that work very well with both my drip coffee maker, as well as our espresso machine. Well done.

Pros: Versatile, Consistent Grind, Reliable, Easy To Use
The grind is nicely uniform for my Italian Moka pot, my espresso machine, and the French press. So far, everything works beautifully, with much less static than grinders I have used in the past (i.e., the Cuisinart burr grinder that had serious electrical/mechanical issues as well as static cling and would not even function after 6 months; or the Cuisinart blade grinder that had extremely inconsistent grind.)

I had a blade grinder for quite some time. I always wondered if a better grinder would make a difference in taste. This one had good reviews and was very reasonable compared to most. I am happy to say that it made a difference on the first pot and I will try different grinds (this one will do a bunch) over time to see what works best for my coffeemaker. If you enjoy coffee and have a blade grinder or no grinder at all this would be a good unit for you. I also use oily beans and had no problem with clogging. Only reason I did not rate it perfect is I will probably never have anything to compare it to. No need! Enjoy!

I've owned the Capresso Infinity Grinder for one month now and it is all that I wanted in a grinder. I have a La Pavoni Europiccola that I use on occasion, but for everyday use I have my favorite Saeco Aroma. With the La Pavoni your grind has to be perfect and it only took three uses to find the right grind for that machine. With the Saeco it was simple to adjust to a perfect cup every time. The Infinity is solid, quiet, and easy to clean. As far as my buying experience, I found the best price to be on [@] which I use often, [...] Abt is a fine company to do business with.

Have had four grinders before the Jura-Capresso, one of which was a Starbuck's. All were messy because of static electricity. The Jura's engineering virtually eliminates this. The grind is consistent, from fine for espresso to medium for our drip maker.

Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Best Uses: Everyday, Home
Pros: Large Hopper, Reliable, Consistent Grind, Easy To Use
We bought this grinder to replace our old one, which was also a Capresso. The design of the receiver bin is one improvement. One design change we feel is a negative is that the volume of beans ground is now coupled directly to the timer. Previously, the volume of beans ground could be set, a button pushed and the selected amount of coffee was ground. Now, it is only by experimentation that one determines how many seconds correspond to the volume of coffee one wants. Keeping track of the timer settings and coffee amounts requires a score card. That said, the grinder is very quiet and the grind is uniform. Our last grinder lasted > 4 years; may this one do the same.

Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Pros: Large Hopper, Consistent Grind, Easy To Use
As the first conical burr grinder I've used/purchased, I was highly impressed with the quality of the grinds. It made less noise than the previous blade grinder I'd used. The only real negative I ran into was the cleanup after use. The areas in the grinder were tough to get to, even with the supplied brush.
Best Grinder Yet!!!
By BigSando72 from Elgin, IL on 07/9/2008.
Describe Yourself: Coffee Aficionado
Pros: Easy To Use, Minimal Static Charge, Stylish, Consistent Grind
Best Uses: Everyday, Home
This is our 4th grinder (in 9 years) after the first 3 just stopped working. It is by far the quietest grinder we have ever used. We no longer have to worry about waking the kids because of a loud coffee grinder. In addition, there is virtually no static charge produced during grinding, so the grounds stay where they are supposed to. I never thought I would get so excited about a coffee grinder, but this is just an awesome product!

Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Cons: Static
I set up my coffee pot at night to brew my coffee first thing in the morning - so I grind the beans at night for just one pot of coffee. Makes a wonderful/tasty pot of coffee. Quick and easy to use. Just needs a little clean up as I seem to get the grinds all over the place. I would buy this product again. Just hope it lasts me a long time.
Piece of Junk!
By Disappointed from New York City on 06/11/2008.
Pros: Consistent Grind, Stylish, Large Hopper
Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Cons: Plastic parts too thin, Messy, Plastics parts
The plastic edge that is used to change grind settings is very fragile and broke after first use. The grinding mechanism is great, but the rest of the machine is constructed very cheaply. Also, I found the machine difficult and quite time-consuming to clean.

Pros: Consistent Grind, Large Hopper, Stylish, Easy To Use
Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Messy, Difficult to Clean
Quiet and efficient, this grinder does a great job. There are too problems. First, if you aren't careful to keep the channel to the collection container from stopping up. Don't allow the coffee to fill the collector. Second, it is very tough to clean effectively as most of the oily residue is in a small area where no rinsing is allowed. Finally, be careful not to accidentally put the burr back into the machine upside down. It is easy to do and very difficult to get out again without damaging anything.

Cons: Noisy
Good machine for [$], best of the inexpensive burr grinders. Consistent ground size, easy to use. Somewhat noisy, but that only last a few seconds while grinding the beans. Much better than the two previous blade grinders ([$] Krups models), one that burned out in less than two months, and the other's plastic on/off switch busted.

Best Uses: Weekends, Great for espresso grinds
Great grinder for the price. I did alot of research before deciding on this grinder. I chose it mostly because of the great ratings it got from this site and other sites that I checked on. It grinds consistantly and isn't nearly as noisy as my blade grinder that I have used for years. We bought an expensive Espresso/Cappachino Machine and the manufacturer recommended a burr grinder for the best results. This grinder has delivered the perfect grind every time! We also love the fact that it has multiple grind settings. Great product!
Very good but has minor issues.

Pros: Consistent Grind, Versatile, Large Hopper, Easy To Use
Describe Yourself: Everyday Drinker
Cons: Noisy
Best Uses: Weekends, Home, Everyday
Minimal heat build up while grinding makes for excellent taste when the coffee is brewed fresh within the hour as suggested in the owners manual. Always a consistent grind with many choices from fine to coarse. I grind the night before (not recommended in the book) during the work week and the taste is still very very good. Only two issues for me: A little noisy and it vibrates just enough to loosen the ground coffee container while grinding. I find myself holding a finger against it until the timer runs out. Hopper easily holds enough for a twelve cup drip machine.
Well worth the money

Describe Yourself: Enjoy a good cup of Kona
Best Uses: Everyday
Pros: Stylish, Large Hopper, Easy To Use, Consistent Grind
Compared to my other burr grinder that was half the price this one is better than twice as good. It is slower, quieter (important), less messy (also important), more powerful and more consistent. I looked at and researched several grinders before purchasing this one. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, moderately priced coffee grinder.[...]

[...] works fine. Only comment I have is the switch on dial starts working instantly not when you let go of it at a given number point. But this is minor if you move fast.
So Far, So Good

Cons: Cleaning

My previous grinder was a blade grinder. This one works well but takes more effort to clean. Overall, however, this seems well made and competent. (I only make drip coffee.)
I love this machine

I did a lot of research before deciding on this model, and I'm glad I did. It's more expensive than I'd planned but I think it will be very reliable. It seems solid. The noise level is not bad, the timer is handy, it looks nice on the counter and is easy to use. The burr grinder seems powerful, though I've only used one of the settings. One reviewer complained about needing to be careful when attaching the hopper to the base, but I didn't have trouble with that.
Best I have ever owned.
