Didn't perform as expected

Water did not completely flow thru. I am hoping is defective. Have ordere a replacement. Will know when I try out the second if the first was defective or if that's the way it performs.

good 4 cup coffee maker

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

It is very difficult to find a four cup coffeemaker and larger coffeemakers do not do well at brewing smaller amounts. This one definitley does the job...I usually put in 3 cups(by the pot's measurements) and two coffee scoops and end up with 2 very good cups of coffee (assuming you are using good coffee to begin with). I will agree, though, that because of its small size the carafe is difficult to clean

The pot spills some if you try to pour too quickly, but overall it's an exceptional product. The entire thing is very easy to clean and even handles my very hard water with no build up. Had been given another coffee maker when I moved and gave that one away to purchase another one of these.

Baskets placement too finicky.

If the two baskets (the white filter basket and the cone basket in which it sits) are not perfectly placed, the coffee does not drip down into the carafe. Instead it collects in the baskets and eventually drips onto the counter top.

Tasty Coffee

It takes about 8 minutes to brew 4 cups of coffee but it's worth the wait. I take single size coffee thermos' to work every morning and use my Keurig single cup coffee system for my afternoon and after supper cups of coffee. My only complaint about this coffee maker is the plastic handle on the filter bit. I snapped it off because it just got in the way. You don't need a handle to remove the used coffee filter.

Old Model Much Better

Like this brand because I don't have to worry if the coffee is going to taste good. It makes great coffee. My old model was easy to use, but got so dirty I couldn't clean it well enough. So I replaced it with this one, which is not as good. The pot only shows number for 2 or 4 cups, excluding 1 and 3. The spout is so small on the pot that coffee spills out when you pour it. And, the filter sticks to the basket, making it difficult to remove to clean. Wish they still had my old model.

Good product

This product has 2 quirks one should know about. The first is that the opening into the pot is rather small, so if a person with anything other than a small hand is trying to clean the inside of the pot, it will be difficult (or impossible for a big hand). The 2nd quirk is that one must use one's thumb and hold the lid open when pouring or it mis-pours. The cup of coffee it brews (assuming a good quality of coffee is used) is worth these minor details - at least for me!!

This coffee maker is perfect for the single- household or the one person coffee drinker. The 4-cup coffee maker is not readily available and I am very pleased that I located this one. It is just as good as a more expensive machine. I appreciate the permanent filter. I would definitely purchase the DeLonghi again and recommend it to anyone.

Great Machine for the Price

This machine is the best. It brews just enough for two. It takes 3 and 1/2 cups of water to fill the carafe but you can't add the water all at once--you have to wait until the carafe fills about 1/3 full and then add the remaining water. Please be careful with the carafe when washing. I chipped the carafe's lip when I bumped it into another dish.

A Good Value

Some have complained that coffee is not hot enough. According to my thermometer, mine brews to 175 degrees. Leave in on the hotplate for a few seconds and it'll get even hotter. This is one of the few pots that uses cone filters (#2) which I believe brews better in small pots. Only complaints so far; it's a bit hard to get your hand in the carafe to clean, and there are no measurement marking on the water reservoir.

I find that the basket is easy to remove and clean but it is hard to replace and get in straight. And if you get it in crooked, look out! Coffee grounds and water overflow. It could be better designed.

Just right for my studio

I just use it about 2x a day so I don't know how much coffee-making it can take. It's great in my studio where I don't entertain so much -- mostly for morning and afternoon coffee and when a friend stops over and you don't feel like walking to the nearby coffeeshop. It met expectations.
