HDMI High Definition Multi-media Interface
HDMI is similar to DVI and is a method to send non-compressed digital video information from one device to another device. HDMI adds digital audio and some limited control features. HDMI is a one way system which means there is a sending (source) device and a receiving device. HDMI is backwardly compatible with DVI. Just as there are different standards for standard computer analog RGB signals and for standard analog TV video signals, there are differences between the digital computer signals and digital TV video signals. For HDMI to work properly, both HDMI devices, the source device and the receiving device, must be compatible with the same types of signals. For video, the most common signals are stated in scanning rates of 480p, 720p and 1080i. TVs that have HDMI inputs do not normally accept digital computer signal standards.
FireWire®
The name used by Apple Computers for a high speed two way digital interface invented by Apple Computer. The more general term for this type of interface is IEEE 1394.
CableCARD Slot
CableCARD is the name of a limited access control card provided by the local cable company that allows Digital Cable Ready TVs to receive, decode and de-scramble premium digital channels without the use of a cable box. One way systems allow both basic and premium channels but do not allow video-on-demand or pay-per-view ordered by the remote control. On-screen guides are not provided by the cable company but alternative guides are often available. The CableCARD is provided by the local cable company. When the TV owner moves to a new area, the first card is returned to the cable company and the new cable company provides a new card. The card slot in the TV is designed to a national standard so the TV can use CableCARDs provided by most cable companies.
NetCommand®
Mitsubishis exclusive intelligent Home Theater Control System that allows the TV to become the heart of the system and the use of one simple remote control. The TV (not the remote control), using IR emitters, sends remote control signals to the other devices in the system commanding them to play, record, change inputs, adjust volume, change channels and many more functions, all without using another remote control or changing control layers in the remote control; Later NetCommand® versions have IR Learning that allows the TV to learn the remote control signals for new devices that the TV is not already preprogrammed to operate. NetCommand® also includes ability to control IEEE 1394 devices by sending control signals on the FireWire® cable and combines the IR emitters and FireWire® control system into a simple to use single user interface system.
ChannelView
A Mitsubishi system to display all of the channels in the TVs memory or authorized by CableCARD. This display will show the channel number, the channel name, the type of channel such as analog or digital, and the program title for digital channels that broadcast that information. If the digital channel also sends future program information, up to 12 hours of program information can be shown for that channel. ChannelView down loads the program information while the TV is turned off and will update information when you view that channel.
