Equator Corporation has been at the forefront of high-efficiency washer technology since 1990 with the introduction of the Equator Clothes-Processor, "an automatic combination washer and tumble dryer. As this and other high-efficiency or "horizontal axis" washers have become more popular, we have recognized a need for a special detergent exclusively formulated for the needs of H-axis washers.
Heating water accounts for 80-90% of a washer's energy consumption. Using less water means less energy is needed. Since H-axis washers use 1/3 - 2/3 less water than vertical-axis machines the energy savings are significant. However, less water also means regular laundry detergents do not dissolve as easily and can leave soap residue on your clothes.
Also, the tumbling action of an H-axis machine is gentler on fabrics but adds more air to the water as your clothes are plunged into and lifted out of the water. This creates more suds than a conventional top-loading (V-axis) washer would. Excess suds can overflow and actually damage an H-axis machine. To prevent excessive sudsing when using regular detergents in an H-axis washer, it is often necessary to use substantially less detergent. However, using less detergent can result in poor cleaning.
