Bang & Olufsen Beolab 2 Subwoofer In Gray, Model 1680003
Features:
ICEpower®
Thanks to our own ICEpower® (Intelligent, Compact and Efficient) digital technology, we have been able to place an 850 watt amplifier in an extremely compact cabinet. ICEpower® not only reduces cabinet
volume, it cuts down power consumption and most importantly produces a sound previously impossible.
Performance
BeoLab 2 will go the edge for your pleasure. But just in case things get too hot, it’s got its own state-of-the-art thermal protection circuit that keeps an eye on the temperature and cuts in just before the critical moment.
BeoLab 2 is constructed as a double balanced passive radiator system, with an 850 watt ICEpower® amplifier which supplies the fuel for a single active 9" woofer and two 9" passive radiators. In other words, it’s got all the power you ever going to need.
The Cube
At the centre of “The Cube”, the largest acoustic measurement facility used by any private company in the world, a computer controlled crane moves a loudspeaker into place. A series of impulses spanning the entire audible spectrum are then played through it into complete silence. In a matter of milliseconds, a perfect picture of the speaker’s own sound “fingerprint” is produced - which can be used to highlight any eventual acoustic shortcomings in the speaker’s design.
Laser Holography
Sound may be invisible, but by using laser holography we can generate a three-dimensional image that shows how a loudspeaker will react under different acoustic loads and conditions. Any unwanted vibrations can be detected and steps taken to reduce their effects until the speaker’s performance is optimised.
The Listening Panel
We never forget that everything we make is for the enjoyment of people. That’s why the final test of any Bang & Olufsen loudspeaker is a human one. A Listening Panel made up of individuals with exceptional hearing skills “blind test” all prototypes and early production models and nothing goes into production without their final stamp of approval.
Appearance
Using aluminium for the cabinets is not just about looking good. Despite a thickness of only a few millimetres, it’s a remarkably strong metal that’s easily shaped to eliminate the problems of dissonance from joints and corners in traditional loudspeakers.
The clean rounded form isn't just a design element. The lack of sharp corners and edges reduces noise diffractions and reflections.
