Great Dishwasher
By ChoresMakeMeSad from Chicago IL on 09/14/2009.
Cons: Awkward Loading, Long Cycle
Describe Yourself: Casual Cook
Pros: Simple Controls, Easy To Load, Attractive Design, Cleans Well, Energy Efficient
Best Uses: Smaller Kitchens
This diswasher is compact, but easily does a whole day's worth of dishes (and I go through a lot.) It is on casters so I can move it into the corner of my tiny kitchen when I don't need it. The cycle is quite long but my dishes are very clean when it's done. The racks inside are a little wobbly but it's really not a big issue for me, just load it with care. I really love this dishwasher and it has made my life so much easier, forget handwashing!
a dishwashing dream

Describe Yourself: Casual Cook
Pros: Easy To Load, Cleans Well, Attractive Design, Energy Efficient, Simple Controls
Cons: Long Cycle
Best Uses: Smaller Kitchens
This is a very well-made appliance and it does a terrific job. I have a very small 1915 kitchen and I wondered if this might be too big but it's not AND I get some extra counter space. Yes, the cycle is a tiny bit long but that's no problem. It works great and looks great; it's easy to use and my cat likes to sit on it.
Danby Dishwasher is Dandy!!

Describe Yourself: Casual Cook
Best Uses: General Purpose, Smaller Kitchens
Pros: Quiet, Energy Efficient, Easy To Load, Cleans Well
Best purchase I've made in a long time. This dishwasher does an excellent job cleaning and drying dishes, and is very quiet. I roll it into a small pantry when not in use. My old house's small kitchen has no space for a dishwasher, so I tried this portable unit after reading many good reviews. The Danby exceeded my expectations by far. I'm never, ever washing dishes by hand again!
Well worth looking at.
By Marc from Des Plaines on 01/4/2009.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Best Uses: General Purpose, Pots and Pans
Cons: Long Cycle, Noisy
Pros: Uses less soap, Attractive Design, Easy To Load
This is my second Danby dishwasher. I owned a Danby counter top unit that unfortunately was damaged when I moved. I was so happy with the counter top unit, I decided to buy the portable so I could do larger loads. The unit is a bit noisy depending on the load size and seems to require more wash time but it has performed flawlessly. The owners guide is a bit tricky to understand but common sense and a few metric to U.S. conversions and your good to go. Word of caution, it uses far less soap than what the manual states. I use no more than 3/4 of a shot glass for the pre-clean and wash cycles with a full load and everything comes out clean.
This was a real find!!!
By Ron from Westchester, Illinois on 11/4/2008.
:
I am very happy with this dishwasher. Its well made (the all stainless interior is great) and does a terrific job. In a small kitchen with no place for a built-in, this is a great option. The capacity is enough for two people's dishes for close to a week. I had read in other online comments that the cycles are long, and they are a bit longer that a full size unit, but not that bad and a lot better then doing it by hand.
Great for single person & small kitchen
By tucsongus from Tucson, AZ on 07/23/2008.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Pros: Cleans very well, Easy To Load, Multiple Settings
Cons: Small capacity
Best Uses: Smaller Kitchens
[...] I unpacked it and read the directions which were simple and easy to follow. Came with rinse liquid and Cascade sample. I usually use the econemy cycle and it cleans very well. From the living room while watching TV the noise in the background is louder than a built in unit, but this should be understood as it is not insulated by cabinet's like a built in unit. My dishes all come out clean and never need a repeat washing. It fit perfectly in the space between my refrigerator and cabinet...it also happens to be even with my counter top so it is like having a little extra work space to use when not in use and hooked up doing dishes. I really like this unit and have had no problems so far. You just have to understand what you are getting. This is a small portable, not a full size built in unit. There is a difference and can not try to compair one to the other. I love this dishwasher and it does the job it was purchased to do. I highly recommend for a single person or couple and for those with small kitchens.
Compact, but a pain to use
By Quick Cook from Charleston, SC on 06/23/2008.
Pros: Easy To Load
Describe Yourself: Gourmet Cook
Cons: Long Cycle, Noisy
Best Uses: Smaller Kitchens
If for some reason you use too much soap or may have regular dish soap on some of the things you put in the washer, the unit will stop functioning and you will need to remove it from under the cabinet in order to empty the little container located on the right side of the washer. In my case that meant removing the water supply also. The unit was not used for a couple of months, and now the water will not fill, and the unit will not start.
I love this.
By kook from los angeles, ca on 02/6/2008.
Pros: Easy To Load
Cons: Noisy
i love this machine. i've had it for 2 years now and it's still alive and kicking. the only complaint is that its a little noisy but saving me from hand washing my dishes is worth this! it is one of my best purchases i've ever made.
Great, but...
By ladyroad from Shelby, NC on 12/18/2007.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Cons: Noisy, Long Cycle, Shipped broken
Pros: Small, Easy to Operate, Easy To Load, Multiple Settings
Best Uses: Smaller Kitchens, Delicate Items, Pots and Pans
The Danby was my first choice in a portable dishwasher, and still is. Even thought it arrived broken (leaking profusely from a bad seal), the customer service was prompt and I'm sure the problem will be repaired soon. The one annoying thing is the long wash time. Pretty much I just turn it on and leave the room and come back in an hour and a half and it's done. It ties up the sink, so you can't wash your other dishes or anything else while it's going.I like it for it's small size and durability. This is a very well built machine and will last us for several years. I agree with what other people have said before - your dishes get REALLY clean with this machine!
Great space saving dishwasher!

Compact Marvel
By icewalkerdude from Chicago, IL on 10/17/2007.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook, Don't Like Doing Dishes
Cons: Long Cycle
Pros: Quiet, Easy to Connect, Easy To Load, Multiple Settings
Best Uses: Smaller Kitchens
For a compact, portable dishwasher, I am impressed. [...] Unpacking and setting up was fairly easy, the instructions were in English and relatively clear.I use this at least twice a week, and everything comes out CLEAN! I use Cascade detergent and the Jet Dry spot remover, and there are no spots on the glasses or dishes. The noise is less than I thought for such a unit. I live in a studio with a separate kitchen, and I can run it at night while watching TV and don't have to turn up the TV volume. The cycle seems a bit long, but I'm not sure what long or short should be. What I care about is that it isn't noisy, is gets everything clean, and is small enough to roll out of the way. Disconnect and "put away" are also easy.If you want a decent compact, portable dishwasher that does the job well, at a reasonable price, this is it. Best purchase I made for my apartment, second only to my air conditioner!Highly recommend.
Bachelor's Paradise

Describe Yourself: Casual Cook
I'm living alone, in an apartment without any built-in dishwasher. It works great for all of my dishes, from bowls and spoons to plates and food containers. And the occasional pot here or there fits nicely inside, too.

THE answer to old, tiny kitchens!
By MartyMc from Chicago on 05/20/2007.
Describe Yourself: Casual Cook
Pros: Multiple Settings, Quiet, Easy To Load
Best Uses: Smaller Kitchens, Delicate Items
I have a small vintage kitchen (8x9') that had no room for a full dishwasher. After much research, I found this beauty, which not only helps me keep the dishes from piling up, but give me more desperately needed counter space! When not in use, it sits next to my fridge. My Danby dishwasher does all the small, annoying stuff that takes too much time by hand. I usually load it up with all silverware, glasses and plates. It does a great job! I hand wash the bigger pots and pans, but those are easier to do by hand anyway. My kitchen maintenance, as well as my attitude, has greatly improved! I also cook more, because the aftermath is no longer such a daunting mess. You just have to install an adapter on your faucet, then wheel the dishwasher over to the sink, hook up the water valve to the faucet, plug in the power cord, hit start and loaf on your couch while it churns away! [...]delivered it to my door. Quite happy with my Danby.
One year old and I still love it.
By dishguy from Washington DC on 08/27/2006.

Best Uses: Pots and Pans, Delicate Items, Smaller Kitchens
I bought it to avoid remodeling right away, It works so well and glides into the closet, I may put off remodeling for a couple more yers. Good choice when you don't have another.
