Panasonic NNH965 Full-Size Genius Inverter Black Microwave, Model NNH965BK
Experience the Revolutionary Inverter® Microwave Oven With Inverter® Microwave Ovens, you’ll have all the power you need to cook with ease, speed, and style. Inverter® technology takes advantage of multiple power levels, and it maintains the best colour, shape, texture, and flavours of your food. Delicate foods can simmer without overcooking on edges and surfaces. And, due to consistent delivery of microwave energy, foods will no longer undercook in the center and have hard overcooked edges. With this technology you’ll enjoy cooking your food – and eating it too! Features: Button Panel Replacing the standard touch-panel control, an effortless-to-operate button panel, found on all of our new “Genius Prestige” ovens, makes it easy to select the desired settings. The Convection Oven takes this simplicity a step further with an added dial for controlling the oven’s temperature. Additionally, time and weight are also controlled by dials. Keep Warm Function A pulsing delivery of very low microwave power keeps food temperatures at a constant level--without overcooking. Our improved keep warm menu now includes five items so foods like stew, gravy and desserts remain warm in the oven until you are ready to serve. Menu Action Screen The Menu Action Screen display actually tells you what to do next. The words scroll across the screen, displaying the program you’ve selected and telling you the next step. It’s as easy as one touch on the appropriate pad and then following the simple instructions. Display will read out in English, French, or Spanish. One-Touch Genius Sensor Reheat and Cook A miniature sensor is the brain behind Panasonic microwave ovens. This device picks up steam from the food as it cooks and relays the signal to the oven's microprocessor. Information is calculated to program the oven to cook each food at the appropriate power level and time required. One touch of a single control pad will activate the sensor, automatically producing perfect cooking results. Versatile Function Key The Function Key simplifies the programming of 10 useful non-cooking functions, such as the Child Lock. Just press the Function Key and the Menu Action Screen will display easy-to-follow steps to complete the desired action. Specifications: - Convenient 5 Button Control Panel

Microwave meets all expectations in first month. This unit replaces a 32-year veteran microwave. Aside from the obvious need to adapt from dial-up controls to digital entry and a flashing information display, the unit is very user-friendly (also supported by an adequate operator manual).
Heats, cooks evenly, except for the center of most cold dishes, for which, stirring and cooking for an additional short period work best. After some tests, power setting 10 is used consistently, considering that stirring once is desirable for most cooking, reheating. Hot cereals always cook best with intemediate stirring. Standard popcorn setting cooked perfectly, well beyond old unit.
Thawing frozen food is yet to be tried -- future report.
Perhaps one concern for the inevitable occurrence: there are no instructions or obvious access to replace the lamp if/when it fails, whereas veteran unit provided easy access to lamp.

My old Panasonic Genius 2500W lasted years through tons of use, so when it finally stopped working (The part cost more then a brand new microwave!) we just got another one, also from ABT. Same model, just the keypad is laid out a little differenty. I like the silver, stick out buttons, especially for the "Start" and "Stop," they are easier to use, just a light touch instead of pressing on the exact center of the keypad button. This model doesn't have all the "Breakfast, popcorn etc. buttons on the side which cluttered it up. They are still one of the features but now they show up when you hit "Sensor Cook." The inside is huge and my big casserole dishes can turn easily. An added side effect, from re-reading the new book I now use more of the features then I did with my old one. The only problem is that the door is still pretty stiff and has to be pushed closed by hand, no more pushing it closed with my elbow. Maybe time will loosen it up a little.

We use this microwave every day for reheating, cooking foods from scratch, cooking frozen entrees, popping popcorn and more. I did not site cleaning as easy, because I don't think anything you have to stick your head or arms into to clean is easy! It is one of the most attractive microwaves out there and I love it in black. Primarily we bought this oven for its capacity size. It was simply the largest one we could find. I have been impressed with this oven and have used it now for about a month. I would highly reccomend it. It cooks evenly and fast and is easy to run.
It best I have ever used in my lifetime!

2nd one we've owned, in 13 years. The old microwave still works & never had a problem. The new version is much more powerful and defrosting is perfect. Just enter weight & it will never cook the edges, meats are still cool! Would recommend to anyone.

We replaced a 25-year-old, extremely dependable, large-capacity, excellent Kenmore with this unit. Having used my Kenmore for so long, I wanted a comparable large unit that I could use daily. This Panasonic is perfect! It's actually even better, because it has the built-in turntable (I had added one to my old unit). I've used the Panasonic for many things, and the only adjustment I've had to make is that it cooks faster. I love it, and would recommend it highly.

This microwave has all the features that you will ever need. Don't be fooled by the price. It is equivalent to mics at double the price. I especially like the ease of Sensor Cooking - you don't have to estimate weight, cooking time or cooking level - just put it in and press one button - it automatically determines the best combination. This is just one of many features that ALL work exactly as they should.

My first Panasonic unit, same size, stop working in 18 months, just fade away. I gambled for another model, same size and still working for the family. We love it. Now that we have a second home, guess what I got the same exact model. It tells the whole story, isn't it?
What I like on this model is the silver start/stop button, the other model that we had that died had the hard to find/read in a low light situation touch button. The sensor heating is a plus and the quick minutes very useful. The Inverter even out the cooking but I really don't notice how it works. The rest of its capabilities are standard to most units. We ordered all my kitchen appliances in black, refreg and all including the flat LCD TV in black bessel, turned out to be beautiful.

The product size, color, and some display buttons specially the sensor reheating; quick minute; and easy to see Start and Stop real silver buttons on a black background are what made me selected this item despite past experiences. So far so good and I love it. It works fast the way I wanted it for. This item replaced my one and a half (1 1/2) year old Panasonic 2.2 cu.ft. 1300W, black Inverter family size microwave (90% the same except for the display) that went death for no good reason at all. Since repair cost is not a good option and this is the only other model close to the item it replaced which I admit I like it base on the critirea mentioned above that I am taking another chance.I look at other brand but nothing came close to all I mentioned above [...].

My favorite feature is "sensor reheat". No more guessing about time or energy level. The "quick minute" is also very helpful when reheating that cup of coffee. The touch pad is very easy to keep clean (a quick swipe when doing dishes). My old microwave (from 1981)had no turntable so it is a definite plus in my book. No more watching and turning every couple minutes! It is large so be sure to measure. My old one was also large so I had no trouble fitting it in the space provided. Those smaller models are nice but I like to be able to cook a 9x13 casserole. This one does it beautifully. I'm sorry now that I waited so long to upgrade.

I thought that I needed a large microwave for larger dishes. This thing is LARGE on the inside. I could have went smaller on inside dimensions and been happy but you can reheat a turkey on the bone in it. The power is great and the inverter technology really makes a difference. The huge turntable fits my largest dishes and oven cooked platters. I haven't tried the sensor cook options (old school) so no input on those features. Overall= Huge cooking area, definately lots of power, faster reheat times, quiet operation, simple operational panel, and defrost options are the greatest and work as advertised.
Microwaves have come a long way
By Late Technology Adopter from NorCal on 08/23/2006.
|
Pros:
|
Simple Display, Powerful, Quiet |
We replaced a 1985 Amana unit with this one; after 20 years, the old one seemed to have decreased from 1000 watts to about 850, and a power surge smoked the control panel.
We picked on this 1250 watt model because it was larger than our old one, yet maintained the general keypad simplicity, especially 'default full power', thus saving that one extra keypress on almost every use. The turntable and oven easily rotate a 13x9 glass pan. The Inverter Turbo Defrost feature really works - no cooked edges on thawed meat! Sensor Cook seems to leave frozen vegetables a little underdone, which is easily corrected.
The only thing we miss is the temperature probe, which would control the cooking time by measuring the internal temperature.
