Really like the machine, made ice instantly, ice melted (not quickly), but the melted ice water appeared to reprocess. Thought machine was too keep some ice frozen. Machine was heavier and bigger then thought. We wanted the machine for our RV/Camper and will now use it for ice making in the summer months as our refrig doesn't keep up with our consumption. I would purchase again. Machine easy to use, directions simple. Just need water and electric, no additional items needed.

not worth it
The ice it makes is not fully hard and the small ice bucket is not cooled and the ice clumps and melts.

Comments about Danby Ice Maker:
I heard that Danby was the best icemaker on the market for home use. The first machine had a bad sensor and ABT promptly sent me a new machine which works great! It does everything it says it will do. ABT provided a return UPS tag so I could return the first machine easily.

Nice ice maker, but it jams

About Me Can't Cook
Use it daily but have to be careful that an ice cube doesn't fall behind the ramp. It jams when basket gets full and ice cubes back over into the tray area when the ramp retracts for the next freeze cycle. The cube melts and becomes small enough to fall behind the ramp when the it cycles. This pushes up the ramp on the next freeze and causes it to jam when dumping the next batch of cubes. The unit either shuts down or pops the ramp out of it's hinged recess. It has done this twice in 2 months. The first time, it popped the ramp out of place and shut down. Second time, it jump shut down. :-( Engineering should fix this.
Great Ice but hard to use as instructed

The drain design is poor: it is off the back (and this thing is heavy), so you must turn it around. Then the drain isn't on the lowest spot, so you must tilt the unit back and forth until you hear no sloshing. To prevent mold, you are supposed to drain the unit completely. Did I mention the unit is heavy? But it makes great ice and does so very quickly indeed.
Great Product

Just purchased this ice machine, so only used it a couple of time at home. However, it going to be great for camping. It has different size ice settings and it drops ice every 10 minutes.
Icemaker that works like a coffeemaker
By BigD

In the past I was used to professional icemakers that connected to the water supply and had a permanent drain. This device is a completely closed system, you pour a gallon of water in it, at the beginning of the day, it makes ice, and you pull a drain plug at the end of the day and let the unused water drain into the sink. That gallon makes about two bins of ice (about 6 lbs.) which for me is a days ice. It makes 12 cubes at a time and drops the first batch in about 13 minutes. I set the cube size to large (does S-M-L) but to me they are only medium sized. I love having fresh ice always available, so this is a great product for me. However, you can not buy it thinking that it will sit unattended for days or weeks and crank out ice. It works like a coffee maker, you fill it up, tap it all day, and empty it at night. It even has a delayed start timer like a coffee maker. (And like a coffee maker you'll have to clean it occasionally). There is zero installation, just plug it in and pour in water. (*note: the top swings up so if it's on a counter you'll need clearance above it.)
Service and delivery comments:
The delivery was spectacular. It was quick. They brought it all the way up to my apartment (3rd floor). They unpacked it. Put it on the counter, and took away the trash. And since I was local, delivery was free. Sweet!

Better than expected !

We had ice cubes in 15 minutes and the party was a success because of always having ice available ! A larger storage area (bin) is the only thing which could be improved, but otherwise, it`s a terrific product !
Great product, couldn't be happier!

We use this product daily, it produces more than enough ice with no after taste. Simple and easy to operate. Compliments our frig. Ice maker.
I ordered this for my wife's birthday and was not expecting it for 2 weeks. It showed up in 3 days. Excellent service.
great product

It is great. I hate making ice in an ice tray. Not enough ice and it is hard to get the cubes out of the tray. With the ice maker, I can make ice when I need or want ice and it does not take long to get the first batch. Once you have all the ice you need/want, you can turn it off and just empty the extra water. I recommend it highly.
