Product Details
Sony Cyber-Shot Digital Camera, Model DSCT5SIL The T5 comes in four cool colors, so you can choose one that suits your style. Is red your color, or silver more your speed? Sony gives you options. The DSCT5 is also ultra-thin, less than an inch thick, but it still features 5.1 Megapixel image capture, a Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® lens with 3X optical zoom and 5 area multi-point auto focus. It includes a full-sized 2.5" hybrid LCD monitor1 with Clear Photo technology for improved viewing in bright sunlight. The T5’s ultra-compact design doesn’t compromise its performance thanks to Sony’s Real Imaging Processor™ technology, 14-Bit DXP A/D conversion processor, and multi-pattern measuring. All three combine to provides fast start-up times, fast shutter speeds, and accurate exposures for photographs that are consistently extraordinary. The T5 also lets you choose from four colors: Black, Gold, Red and Silver. Features: - 32 MB Internal Memory
Internal memory lets you shoot without a Flash Memory card; slot included for optional Memory Stick Duo™ and Memory Stick PRO Duo™ media. - 1/2.5" 5.1 Megapixel Effective Super HAD™ CCD
Super HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCDs provide excellent image quality by allowing more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise. - The CCD, or charge coupled device, is a part of a camera that reads light and captures video and still images as millions of pixels. The higher the pixel count of the CCD, the higher the resolution and the clearer the picture. Some color cameras only have one CCD. In this case, a single CCD is responsible for detecting and recording the brightness of all three primary colors (red, green and blue). Half of the CCD's pixels are used for green, 25 percent for blue, and 25 percent for red. The camera merges all the pixel information to produce a color picture. Because the CCD can only detect a limited amount of information for each color, the resultant picture is only about half of the resolution of the CCD. A three CCD camera uses three separate CCDs -- one for red, one for green, and one for blue. A three CCD camera is able to combine one pixel from each CCD to form a full-color pixel in the finished photograph. A color picture produced by a three CCD camera represents the full resolution of the CCDs. Pictures taken with a three CCD camera have colors that are more vivid and lifelike than pictures taken with a one CCD camera.
- Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® Lens
The Vario-Tessar® lens is specially produced for compact cameras and provides rapid auto focus with appealing zoom range. Utilizing a highly transmissive optical grade prism, the lens is housed entirely inside the camera body, and does not need to extend for use. - A camera's lens is responsible for maintaining consistent resolution, contrast, illumination, and color from the center of the picture all the way out to the corners of the frame. A high-quality lens is a key ingredient to producing the perfect picture. Prized by professional photographers for superior sharpness, excellent contrast, and true color accuracy, Carl Zeiss® lenses are integrated into many of Sony's cameras. Many of the Carl Zeiss® lenses used in Sony's cameras have been treated with the Carl Zeiss® T* coating. This coating reduces light reflection on the lens surfaces, canceling lens flare and image ghosting. T* treated lenses boast up to 82%less reflection than a conventional, untreated lens. This means more vibrant and natural-looking images.
- Super Compact Slim Body
The ultra-compact and thin size (15.3mm at thinnest point) of the DSC-T5 makes it the perfect camera to tuck in a pocket or purse for high-quality, high resolution photos almost anywhere. - Real Imaging Processor™ Technology
The innovative Real Imaging Processor™ technology in the DSC-T5 not only improves picture quality and clarity but also improves camera response time, decreases shutter lag, and improves battery stamina. - The Real Imaging Processor™ LSI is a highly developed computer chip, much like the processor in your PC, that runs the camera's basic functions. The Real Imaging Processor™ LSI improves start-up time, camera operation speed, and power consumption while delivering high quality photos. It also delivers better color reproduction and an improved signal-to-noise ratio, resulting in dramatically improved picture quality. Cameras with the Real Imaging Processor™ LSI have a very quick shooting response time -- Turn on the camera and start taking pictures in just over a second. There is also very little "shutter lag" between shots, and the auto REC review can be cancelled during operation so that no picture opportunity is missed. The Real Imaging Processor™ LSI brings many benefits to compact digital photography, resulting in better photographs and faster operation.
- 3X Optical/2X Digital/6X Total Zoom
3X Optical Zoom helps you frame your shots for better digital pictures. And Sony’s Precision Digital Zoom provides an additional 2X magnification without the jagged edges of other - 0 - 12X Smart Zoom™ Feature (Up to 12X at VGA Resolution)
Smart Zoom™ intelligently uses the full CCD to let you zoom into the portion of interest by cropping the image size—thus avoiding the image degradation of Digital Zooms. - 14-Bit DXP A/D Conversion
Sony’s 14-bit Digital EXtended Processor captures the range between highlight and shadow with up to 16,384 values, for extended dynamic contrast and detail. - Sony cameras with the 14-bit Digital EXtended Processor capture the range between highlight and shadow more accurately than conventional cameras, providing dynamic contrast and detail. In digital systems, the more bits you devote to each sample, the better your quality will be. Conventional digital cameras process images at 10 bits. Sony's Digital EXtended Processor uses 14-bit technology (sixteen times as many steps) to produce a higher quality image. A photo of a blue sky or a person's skin tones should show smooth gradations between light and dark. With conventional 10-bit processing, a photograph of such complex gradations will show "bands" that form visible steps between light and dark. Sony's 14-bit DXP produces more color information between highlights and shadows (16,384 color values, as opposed to 1024 with 10-bit processing) so you get a natural-looking, smooth gradation from light to dark.
- 2.5" Hybrid LCD Monitor
The enormous 2.5" LCD1 provides a high resolution view while shooting, with transmissive/reflective Hybrid design for extraordinary brightness in direct sunlight and large, easy to read menus. Unique in such a compact camera, this large screen makes it easy to share image playback with friends. - Clear Photo LCD
The DSC-T5 includes Clear Photo LCD technology which provides higher resolution, contrast ratio and brightness. Images in the LCD will have up to a 40% improvement in color reproduction than previous models. - Magnifying Glass Mode
With its extraordinarily close focusing capability (1cm) and oversized LCD, the DSC-T5’s Magnifying Glass mode can display images at over 3X actual size. This powerful capability opens up new possibilities in Macro photography. - 5 Area Multi-Point Auto Focus
By evaluating 5 separate focus areas of the frame, Sony’s Multi-Point AF system can intelligently focus on the subject and avoid mistakenly focusing on the background. - AF (Auto Focus) Illuminator
Briefly illuminating the subject, in low or no-light conditions, the AF Illuminator helps establish a positive focus lock. - Cyber-shot Station™ Dock Compatible (Sold Separately)
Makes transferring images easier with the optional CSS-TNA Cyber-shot Station™ camera dock. Just place the camera on the Cradle for instantaneous power and computer connections. - Rechargeable InfoLithium® Battery
Provides reliable, long-lasting power for continuous shooting, without Memory Effect. - Memory Stick Duo™ Media
