Purchased this product as a backup deck and to use for copying other cassette tapes. Minimal quality in its design and construction. For example: the material used for visual checks of the tape while playing/recording are made of cheap, clear plastic which presents a less than optimum view of the tape. Additionally, the first deck I purchased would not record and had to be replaced with a second unit. Only time will reveal the longevity of this product which is a replacement for a Sony deck purchased years ago and which was a high quality product that eventually wore out. I'm keeping this new deck because the choices in the market today are extremely limited.

Its getting tough to find a good cassette deck in this digital age , however with a large cassette collection this deck suits my purpose very well.

Onkyo makes very good consumer audio products, and this cassette recorder with high-speed dubbing sounds typically good. It comes at a great price, too, so there's a lot of audio bang for the buck.
Some control sequences are less than intuitive, but that's not rare in electronic design. The only serious flaw for me was the lack of a headphone jack. The only way to monitor a recording is to hook the outputs to a monitor amplifier and speakers. While this may be fine in a home setting (just push a button on the receiver), it's darned inconvenient in a sound booth and in classroom recording sessions.
The unit is new, so durability is unknown.

With the Onkyo direct link you have to unhook the cable to use recorder without turning on receiver. Overall great unit.
