Excellent Choice For An Ice Crusher

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

While it's been in use just two or three weeks, it has served its intended purpose most excellently. Not nearly as noisy as one might expect an ice crusher to be and makes pieces of ice just the perfect size for nibblers. I do not believe it would work well for snow cones, though. Because of the built-in safety feature, I notice that when the ice drops, it sometimes moves the bin causing an unintended shut-off. No big deal - a slight tap pushes it back in to complete the job. Another nice feature is the minimal countertop space it requires. Overall, I'm impressed with the design, quality and function of the Waring Professional Ice Crusher!

We use the ice crusher with our at home bar. Great for mixed drinks and just a glass of soda as well. Very well built. Not a bad noise level; considering it's an ice crusher.

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had to return the original product as it quit working after a few minutes of use. Seems to have a safety switch, that if ices jams, unit stops and U have to jiggle machine and/or repeatedly wiggle on/off swithch to restart. This replacement unit has done the same thing but has restarted. For price, I am not comfortable with this glitch in its performance and I don't even know if it should be happening. Also, can't load hopper with ice but have to feed it one cube at a time which is lousy. Should this unit be returned, also?

Works well. Had another brand (Deni) that was similar in apperance, it only lasted a month, the blades bent & jammed, I tried to straighten the blades & it would crush 1 or 2 cubes & jam again. I hope this one lasts longer

Nice Machine

Unit appears to be very well made. Doesn't even slow down when fed ice to crush. However, the chute is fairly small and must be attended to almost constantly. Unit is tall with chute attached and will not fit under cabinets when sitting on the counter. Keep in mind, this is our FIRST machine of this type and may be superior to others on the market. We simply have nothing to compare to.

I read many reviews on ice crushers and decided on this one. I love crushed ice and use a lot of it. I have used this ice crusher everyday since I got it and it works great! The ice comes out in probably around 5/8" or smaller pieces. Sometimes some pieces are a little larger. I would have liked the ice to be a little smaller but I think, for the money,this machine is the best one I could have chosen. I would buy this machine again.

My husband loves the ice you get at certain restaurants because of its size and how it is crushed. So, for his birthday, I purchased this item for him. Now we make our own crushed ice and it couldn't be easier or more useful! In the morning I crush up enough ice to fill the ice container and then scoop out what I want, this lasts me for two days. This is a great product and I am so glad I found it. The ice is larger than some of the other brands of ice crushers which just makes ice for a snow cone and so the Waring one makes just the right size for my iced tea.

Everything I love about fountain drinks at home! No more waiting for ice cubes to melt enough in your drink to crunch on - they come out of this crusher the perfect size to chew on. I crushed up my whole ice container in a few minutes and had enough for the week ready to go. Only hitch is that too many ice cubes at once will get clogged up, so I don't use the funnel and instead feed in a few cubes at a time (which still goes pretty quickly).

Amazingly Quiet!

From a manual crusher to an Oster "Snowflake" to this beauty. Given what it's doing, I still marvel at how quiet it is. With other crushers and when and using a blender, the racket can drive everyone from the kitchen. Not so with this jewel. Since it looks good and blends with stainless appliances, it stays out on the counter ... meaning I enjoy crushed ice more often than when I had to drag a crusher out and then put it back. In addition to direct use in drinks (there are many that are soooo much better when enjoyed over crushed ice), crushing ice before throwing it in the blender for a smoothie type drink saves wear & tear on the blender (many blenders / smoothie machines actually discourage anything more than few cubes with a lot of liquid). My only con is that with the feed funnel on top, it will not slide into the 18" space below my cabinets. But the funnel simply lifts off and it fits easily into the ice tray for storage ... so it's no biggie for me.

If your refrigerator has an ice crusher, dont waste your money on buying this machine as it will do no better. I was expecting small and sorta uniform size ice but didnt get it. The only thing I got was a smaller wallet. BUT, if your frig doesnt have an ice crusher, then this is a good machine, or put your ice cubes in a towel and smash it with a hammer.

Perfect Size for Cocktails!

This is the only ice crusher that I could find that does not produce ice shavings (like those you would use for a snow cone). I was looking for an ice crusher that would make ice chunks the size of a refridgerator ice crusher. It works really well! The only problem we have found is that if you use ice made from an ice tray, the ice cubes tend to be too big, causing it to jam in the shoot. (They are too big to go down the shoot all at once). Simple fix though: just give it a little jiggle or put in fewer ice cubes than the shoot holds. Other than that, I love it!

A must for summer drinks and cocktails!

I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the ice crusher operated. It made fast work crushing ice for frosty mint juleps.

quiet and fast

Quiet operation. I liked to crush the ice to facilitate making smoothies and also to minimize the noise (racket) that ice cubes make in blenders.

We make a lot of smoothies and this ice crusher makes the process much faster. One tray of ice cubes in the crusher and throw all the ingredients in the blender and "Bam", done!!!

Just what you've been looking for

I found just what I needed. It chops ice not shaves it. We use ours in a small office that likes their drinks with chopped ice, not cubes. It's made well and we have hopes of having it for a very long time.

I really love this ice crusher. I crush a bunch of ice in minutes and then put it in a plastic container for later use, especially when I first get home from work and want to relax with a cool drink. I have tried other hand crank crushers and to me they are a waste of time and money. I'm very glad I purchased it.

Just what I was looking for, perfect!

I had worn another ice crusher out and was going to get one just like it, but found this one while searching the web. After reading the reviews I decided to try this one and I love it. It's much quieter than any other ice crusher I've ever used and crushes the ice into pea to marble size chips, perfect for my ice munching habit. Do not get it if you want "shaved" ice. It's rather large for a kitchen countertop, but looks so good that I leave it out anyway. Only drawback is the occasional jammed ice cube, but I think all ice crushers do that to a certain degree. Nothing I can't get past.

If you are looking for a quality ice crusher, this professional quality Waring product is the one for you. We have been using this item for approx. one month and are impressed with its quality, the low cost and its ease of use/care. The only downside is it does not produce shaved ice.

since new fridge didn't have ice crusher this has worked out very well. ice chips are the right size for drinking beverages. not shaved ice like others.

Can feed one large cube at a time, moderately quickly. Crushes ice into fairly small chunks that can then go into a blender to make frozen drinks. (Otherwise, the blender won't handle large cubes.) Sturdy & well made. A tad large to leave it sitting permanently on the kitchen counter.

Feed me small bites, please!

Product is attractive & well constructed. However don't expect to fill ice hopper with large ice cubes & have it perform well. Large cubes feed into machine & do not grind up. My best results were acheived with smaller cubes, approximately 1" square or smaller fed to the hopper in small handfulls. If used in this manner results are fine & ice is crushed well.

Cons:	Best with small ice cubes
