From the very first loaf, this has been the most phenomenal appliance I have ever purchased. The clear and step by step instructions and recipes are the best I've seen and the appliance works exactly as advertised. Simple and straight forward. Cleanup is a breeze - 2 minutes. The bread tastes like heaven and is perfect every time without fail. I can't recommend it enough.

I bought this item for the gluten free feature and for the whole wheat feature. While the machine works fine, I found the bread it produces using the recipes that come with the machine just average. No different than store-bought. The manufacturer does not recommend using other bread recipes. I tried a store-bought 1 1/2 pound gluten-free bread mix, and it flowed right over the top of the pan during baking. What a mess! Also the shape of the pan means you get gi-normous slices of bread when you go for a 2-lb loaf. If the pan was a bit longer and thinner, it would be better. Still, I've probably made 20 loaves of bread in the thing, and it is very reliable, but the bread recipes suggested aren't spectacular. While I'm guessing it might be good for mixing up a bread dough, and then taking it out to bake it, I'm going back to using my trusty Kitchenaid mixer and my oven.

    Comments about Cuisinart Convection Breadmaker:

I owned the same machine for the past 6 years and have enjoyed the results. The 'brains' started going a little crazy on me so I decided it was probably time to replace. I am aware of many negative reviews on this maker, but a few things made it more desireable to stick with 'the devil I know'! First, I had already bought a couple of replacement paddles, also I was familiar with this one and the recipes I use but most importantly its the only bread machine I am aware of that allows you to remove the paddle prior to the baking process - a huge bonus that prevents that gaping hole through the middle of your loaf at the end of a bake cycle! so I proceded with my purchase.
Thankfully, I was already very familiar with the product, otherwise I may not have realized that the horribly loud noises coming from the one that arrived were not typical - it was SO noisy - not just the kneading cycle but the bake cycle - my father determined it must be the bearings about to give out. Abt were fabulous and exchanged it promptly. The replacement is great - runs like my original one used to, back in the day.
I think that all bread machines are noisy to a degree, but if you get one that is excessively noisy then do question it.
A lot of people deem bread machines as those items that are great in theory but never end up using them regularly and they eventually just sit in the pantry (or attic) collecting dust - if you need motivation to use it, look no further than the frightening list of ingredients on the bread you're buying - it doesn't need all that junky stuff in it - my delicious bread uses 7 ingredients (including the water and yeast!!!)
My top tip is to leave it out for 24 hours (makes slicing easier), then slice and freeze = Fresh bread on demand!
One more thing, my loaves did often sink but that never effected taste etc - however, when I read some positive reviews urging people to double check the quantities they were using I found my error! I am a keen fan of traditional scales, and had converted all my bread maker 'cup/spoon'recipes to weight - what I didn't realize is that BREAD flour is a significantly different weight to regular flour - I had been using about one quarter too little flour! Since making my new calculations and amendments the loaves are indeed much better looking!!!

    Service and delivery comments:

customer service was EXCELLENT. They exchanged my product without any hassle and ensured I was satisfied.

The instructions are very clear for a novice baker like myself. I am very happy to have this breadmaker at home as my son is gluten sensitive and the cost of buying insipid, boring breads at the specialty grocers was spiraling out of control. I am baking wonderful breads that you would never know are gluten free! Just be sure to buy quality flour and ingredients, and live healthy and happy!

Having used breadmakers for years, my first whole grain attempt (using their recipe) caused the pan to continually pop out of the clips. I tried bending the clips as people have suggested, but to no avail. The machine stayed locked in for a while, but then popped out again. Maybe my machine was just a lemon. You could clearly see that the clips did not line up with the sides of the pan where they should clamp down.
