I used my beautiful new Cuisinart electric can opener yesterday for the very first time, and I must say I am exceedinly impressed. It was a 29oz can of pumpkin and the can opener cut through it like a warm knife through softened butter. There was no resistance. The cut was clean with no jagged edges. The can opener held the nearly 2lb can with no issues. Since this is the only time I've used it thus far, I cannot comment on reliability or any cons at this time.

The reason I purchased this electric can opener is because my manual can opener had outlived its usefulness. It was skipping spots and the handle was far too difficult to turn. My hands are nowhere nearly as strong as they were before in my younger days, and, I decided that after all these years of using and struggling with manual can openers -- that I deserved to splurge and relax while opening cans.

This stunning architectural Cuisinart beauty-of-a-can-opener is worth its weight in gold bullion for my older, tired and weakened hands.

I rated it 4-stars because the first can opener I received had cosmetic flaws on a side-edge of its plastic base. For the price of this, I would expect a base without such cosmetic flaws.

I highly recommend this for personal kitchen use to save one's hands, or, as a wonderful, useful gift for holidays and special occasions.

The first one arrived promptly but had manufacturing cosmetic damage. Return was very quick and easy. Customer Service was awesome: polite, professional and prompt with no hassles whatsoever. Its replacement was shipped quickly and arrived safe and sound.

As long as you align the can properly and slowly start the cut I think it should last forever.

My wife bought this can opener last week and is returning it this week. The lever that catches the can and opens the lid removes for easy cleaning, but this causes a huge problem. The lever is too loose to open cans. The lever catches the the lip of the can and plunges the blade into the top of the can. It also activates the motor to turn the can by pressing a button on the base of the unit, but since the lever is so loose, it does not stay in contact with the button and the can stops moving. We had to use a manual can opener to finish the job.

Quite simply put, this is the worst can opener I have ever used.

This is the best electric can opener I've ever used. It grips the can easily, opens it cleanly, and holds onto it instead of dropping it so you can remove the can when you're ready. It looks great on the counter and takes up little space. It is worth every penny I paid for it.

The plastic part within the lever containing the blade shattered rendering the appliance useless. With no replacement parts available it wouldn't even make a good boat anchor. Disappointed that a brand name like Cusinart includes such shoddy material in their product.

After a year of infrequent use, the plastic portion of the opener lever broke. This is the main item to activate the motor and it is the only piece of plastic on the opner. Also, there are no replacement parts available.
