I live in a condo complex and can't use my surround sound at night. These headphones give me amazing sound quality without disturbing the neighbors. I wish I bought these years ago. They have changed my whole viewing experience...and my relationship with my neighbors!

Good, but......

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
The biggest problem is that it will lose the signal (after about 5 mins) if there is no audio present and then the headphones start to beep. Very annoying! The other problem, is that there's not enough volume. Don't get me wrong, it can get loud, but it would be nice to have a little bit more head room, before distorting. The sound quality is pretty consistant with Sony headphones. Being digital, there's no hiss compared to non-digital RF headphones. I don't use the surround function, so I can't comment on that. One last thing is a personal preference. The leather covers are comfortable, but with long use my ears tend to perspire a little.
Cons: Not enough volume, Loses Connection
Pros: Rich Sound, Comfortable

Fantastic Headphones

These headphones are seriously awesome. Rigging them up to a 5.1 surround sound card on your computer is a pain, and I've still been unable to get the surround sound to work. But that's my sound card's problem, not the headphones'. Anyway, even on their analog setting these headphones are the best. The base is nice and deep and the sound is crystal clear. I recommend these for use with home theater systems.

Cons: Not Compatible, Uncomfortable

Well I must say that these headphones really do shine when you watching Blu-Ray or Hi def content. They sound great with video games especially if its in Dolby 5.1 or higher. They Work with Xbox 360 just fine, heard comments that it crackles while playing Xbox, this is not true, PS3 works amazing with these, music sounds awesome. Only negative I expected construction of them to be better, they feel really flimsy, you will have to be careful, not for little kids. If you live in an apartment where noise is a problem get them!
Pros: Comfortable, Rich Sound, Lightweight
Cons: Flimsy Construction
Best Uses: Home Audio, Music

Excellent RF headphones

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
This headphone set is used mostly for watching TV or listening to music in evening or late at night. The sound is excellent. Although muffs cover the ears, I can still hear if someone speaks to me. Since it shares the 2.4GHz frequency band with 802.11g WiFi, it knocks my laptop off the Internet when I use it. I can live with that.
Cons: Causes WiFi interference
Pros: Good range, Rich Sound, Comfortable, Durable, Highly Compatible
Best Uses: Home Audio, HDTV shows, Music

Truly high-quality wireless headphones

After buying, trying and quickly returning several analog FM, 900 MHz, wireless headphones from name brands like JVC, I bought the Sony MDR-DS6000 and was first impressed by the quality packaging and then by the superior sound quality after connecting the base to the optical digital audio output from the DirecTV HR10 receiver. I walked around my large apartment and didn't notice any drop-outs until I got close to my WiFi access point, which also operates on 2.4GHz. As soon as I moved several feet away from it, the drop-outs stopped. While watching TV with the headphones on and using my WiFi laptop, there were no drop-outs. Although the headphones and base are constructed with plastic parts, the quality seems quite good and not "cheap" as another reviewer asserted. The volume level initially was very low, until I adjusted the control on the right headphone. The volume can be turned up enough to become uncomfortably loud. In general, I am totally satisfied and pleased to have finally acquired wireless headphones that work well, sound good and are comfortable to wear.
Pros: Durable, No radio hiss or noise, Highly Compatible, No fading in and out, Comfortable, Lightweight, Rich Sound
Best Uses: Music, Home Audio, Satellite HDTV

Good all around product.

All around good product. Comfortable to wear for extended periods. However, I thought for as expensive as they are the build quality seamed a bit cheap. I realize for home theater use where they may be worn for several hours, weight is important and is why they may appear cheaply made. Sound quality was good and the digital tranmission provides for a noise free background.
Cons: Flimsy Construction
Best Uses: Home Theater
