I have a number of wireless devices an have used wireless gaming adaptors, repeaters and so on. The Tivo wireless gizmo has been the easiest to setup and has never failed. My transmitter is on the 2nd floor with the Tivo on the first floor. It easily allows me to download/xfer hourly episodes, eg, from my PC while I watch an earlier episode and have the newer episode available by the end of watching the first one. That's all I really want from it. Still, if you can run a CAT5 to the Tivo, do it. But don't sweat it if that's an inconvenience - go wireless and you'll be fine.

Man, I wish I had bought this little gadget sooner. Initially, I connected my Tivo to the home network directly via ethernet cable to the router. However, a new living room configuration necessitated a wireless option. I first (and erroneously) thought that all it would take is a simple USB-based wireless adapter, such as what one could by from D-Link, or Belkin, or any of the other brands. Well, none of them were compatible with the Tivo. So I spent the extra [$] on the official Tivo adapter, and I'm really happy. Why? Because not only was it a seamless setup, the connection to the wireless network is actually *faster* than when it was wired. A 30-minute show used to take about 27 minutes to transfer to my laptop, but now it takes 15 minutes or less. Oh yeah - it looks cool, too. Highly recommend.

I am really happy with this product but I was a little confused by the design how this product would work. From the picture I assumed that you would plug the whole unit into the USB slot in the back of your tivo and then swivel the top half to adjust reception. In reality, you attach the unit to your tivo via a 3 foot long cord. I was hoping to eliminate yet another cord by going wireless so I am a little disappointed in the design. It works great though and took about 1 minute to set up.

Finally, a TiVo-compatible 802.11g adapter that supports real wireless security standards! Before, I had to set up a second wireless network using WEP security, since old adapters did not support WPA in use on my primary wireless network. New WPA support on this adapter now allows me to lock down my networks much more effectively. Setup on TiVo was a no-brainer. Also, the speedup to 802.11g now makes it possible for me to watch a program recorded on another TiVo without having to wait for it to transfer (transfer speed over 802.11b was not fast enough to keep up with playback). Well worth the money, especially if you are adding your TiVo(s) to an existing 802.11g WPA network.

Worked fine

I used this product in a far end of the house away from the base station. It took many tries to get the signal, but finally worked. Some other units don't work at all there and others work fine, so this unit is about in the middle as far as reception. It also had no problems with 128 bit WEP encryption. I think this had been a problem, but is now resolved. (This is the encryption with 26 character, 0-9, A-F).I am using it with a new (as of 12/06) dual tuner TIVO. I would really recommend it for this usage as the setup is so easy.[...]
Pros: Easy To Set Up

Set up under 10 minutes, and 100% uptime for 3 weeks without a reboot/reset. I bought 2 of these units, to replace the USB-to-Ethernet adapter and Wireless bridge on each of my 2 TIVOs. Since then, better speed, NO loss of connection, and faster transfer times for programs. I wouldn't go back...

Works! (tried D-Link DWL-122 earlier)

I tried a D-Link DWL-122 earlier to connect my TIVO to my home network because it is cheaper than this TIVO brand-named one but that kept losing connection and after a while stopped working altogether. I have nothing against this D-Link one because I think the problem is due to the pickyness of the TIVO box. Anyway, this one works and abtelectronics had it for a lower price than TIVO.
Pros: This one works

Now that TiVo supports WPA and WPA2 wireless security (TiVo version 8.1 or higher), It finally made sense for me to connect TiVo wirelessly to my network. I have been using this for some time now and it has been working great. The device is well designed and surprisingly well weighted (no worries about falling over or anything.) If you are tired of connecting through your phone line or your phone jack is far from your TiVo this is a great choice. (Please note that you must have a wireless router for this to work) Once you connect your TiVo to your network then you will see a lot more functionality like remote scheduling, Yahoo Weather, Yahoo Traffic, TiVo to Go transfers and more. Solves "No network adapter found" error

My DLINK Wireless B adapters were having trouble staying connected. In the hope that a G network would be more reliable, I bought a pair of these (all continuing to connect to a LinkSys WRTGS54 router) and--sure enough--no more "No adapter found errors"! Transfers are faster, too. The adapters also look nice sitting on my two televisions. They are well made and they work.
Pros: Attractive design, Easy To Set Up
