Close to the ideal setup for my home. Handset has about every feature you can imagine, but my favorites are caller ID, speaker, volume, memory, waiting-message light, independent controls for each handset.

Already had the base and one handset, my son would leave the handset in whatever room he ended up in. Now we have handsets all over the house. Great phone, every feature I need. Caller ID, phone book, can access messages from any phone, call waiting-- I love these phones!

This is an overall really nice phone. Has a lot of features that most phones do not have. I also liked the fact that I could record a phone conversation and that the phones could be used as a room monitor. That was a definate plus. The only thing that I didn't like about the phone was that it takes forever to erase the calls on the caller id.

And I thought that people were smart,,,this is the first phone that I've owned that communicates all the data to all the other phones, can call all the other phones, and the menu is easy to understand and navigate thru,,,never pulled out the directions,,this phone was smart enough to set itself once the others were up and running after charging.

Tried several other brands that just didn't cut it. A lot of static when moving from the base. This phone is as clear outside the house as it is inside. Just a Great Phone!

It met all my expectations but one. I was told by Uniden Corporation that it had an auto-seeking function that would automatically switch frequencies (some phone have a manual button you push), if static interference occurs. It does not. Also it would be nice if the matching base unit had a headphone acces. jack like the hand-held units do. Otherwise it's a great system.

When our last set of cordless phones went out, we went looking for a system that could support several handsets. The Uniden system has worked wonderfully for us. It can accommodate up to 10 handsets, which is great for our busy household. We especially love the intercom function. We constantly use them to communicate from room to room. The caller ID and the directory are easy to use and there are lots of ringtones to customize incoming callers. When one of the kids call from their cellphone, I use the "No Place Like Home" ringtone. That way I know it's from one of them right away. It's a great system!

It needed a little easier instructions for registering the phone to the original base phone. The reception fades out when we go outside, which you wouldn't expect of a 5.8 ghz phone

Product [...] was a no-brainer to setup and use. It added on to the Uniden base station automatically by following the directions (charge overnight then place in base station for 20 seconds). Reception is perfect and the spearker phone and earphone features work well. The only Con is that adding phone numbers to the handset address book either before or after calling is NOT at all intuitive or obvious so don't lose the manual if you want to use this feature.

When in CallerID mode on a TCX805, you hit the asterisk to get a "1" prepended to the number so you can than make the long distance call. The owner's manual for the TCX905 (download) does not highlight this. Does it, in fact, work on the TCX905 (undocumented feature)?

Good phone, missing a couple of features

I like this phone and it works well but it is a couple of features short of being really well designed. For one, you cannot use the caller ID to call people back who live long distance as the 1 does not show up on the screen. Also, the phone does not access your phone book when a call comes in so that you can see the name as you have recorded it. And three, I would like more than 3 numbers saved in the redial memory. Overall, though, the phone works well, looks good and is easy to use.

I am greatly impressed with this handset. I have a base TRU-8885 with the tcx-805 handset and this one intergrated very easily. In fact it is much more user-friendly than the tcx-805. I love it!

Works with my base station, as advertised; low price, seems to be of good quality. Controls could be a little more intuitive for me. Good reception when in range, but range seems to be very limited (< 100 feet), so I need to move the base station closer to the center of the house.
