I have a Bose home theater system and wanted to add a little extra kick to the system. So I bought this sub as a secondary unit to supplement the Bose sub that I have. Works great and provides the deep low rumble I was looking for when watching movies.

I added subwoofer to my home theatre sys. and it sounds great. Pioneer receiver, pioneer blu ray, monoprice in ceiling speakers, yamaha center speaker. It sounds fantastic, and did not spend a fortune. [...] I will definetly do business with this company again.
very Good for The Money
By hank from Mastic Beach,NY on 08/11/2009.
Describe Yourself: Audiophile, Tech Savvy
Pros: Easy To Connect, Attractive Design
Best Uses: Smaller Rooms, Home Theater
Donot expect to hear the thunderous, sharp claps of thunder that you would hear from an excellent Dolby surround system at your theater. To approach it would require an outlay of some hundreds of dollars more than the [$] I spent. However, the deep bass that this Yamaha devlopes is sufficient to compliment the very good main front speakers I have.

The sound is awesome, but it could use a little more power, only has a 50watt amp.

Best Uses: Home Theater

The sound is very good. Very clear and powerful. At this price there can't be a better value - and ABT is a first rate mail order biz to deal with. I'll be looking here first in the future.
Great sound and a great value
By Blase from Venice, FL on 05/25/2009.
Describe Yourself: Audiophile, Practical
Pros: Easy To Connect, Great Sound Quality, Crisp Sound, Powerful, Attractive Design
Best Uses: Smaller Rooms, Basic Systems, Home Theater
Connected the Yamaha subwoofer to my 100 watt Onkyo receiver. My 100 watt Bose bookshelf speakers lacked the powerful base I was looking for, and the subwoofer definately filled that void! Great, undistorted sound in a 12' by 20' room for music and movies. I also like the separate volume control as the amount of base desired depends on the source.

By glw511 from Dallas, TX on 03/16/2009.
Describe Yourself: Audiophile, Tech Savvy, Musically Inclined
Cons: NONE
Pros: Perfect for it's Price, Easy To Connect, Powerful, Attractive Design, Great Sound Quality, Crisp Sound
Best Uses: Smaller Rooms, Used in my HomeOffice
Great product for the money. I use it in my office at home and with my 5.1 setup, it vibrates my pictures etc on the wall. It is well worth the money! Great for a small room. I wouldn't recommend it in my Big Family Room with Vaulted Ceilings, etc., but I paid a lot more for that set up. I would highly recommend this product for the money.
Great Sub, especially at this price
By Shawn from Highlands Ranch, CO on 03/12/2009.
Best Uses: Movies, Home Theater, Music, Games
Pros: Powerful, Attractive Design, Great Sound Quality, Easy To Connect, Crisp Sound

Wow! Was looking around for a good sub at a good price point. I stumbled upon this one, and I am very happy. It puts out very good bass as far as I am concerned. Perfect for my media room.
Value for money
By retiree from Houston, Texas on 03/2/2009.
Best Uses: Basic Systems, Home Theater
Pros: Great Sound Quality, Powerful
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
Using as an add-on to an existing (older) 5.0 to make it 5.1 in an accoustically (wood flooring, lots of glass) challenged room. Excellent value for the money.
Great Subwoofer at a Great Price
By Sam from Denver, CO on 02/13/2009.
Pros: Easy To Connect, Attractive Design, Great Sound Quality
Best Uses: Home Theater, Basic Systems
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
I bought this subwoofer to use with the 5.1 home theater system in my living room. The room is about 350 square feet. It easily fills the room with sound (and vibration) with the volume set to about 2. It sounds and feels great and was easy to hook up using the subwoofer pre-out connection on my receiver. The only negative for me is that the power and volume switches are on the back of the speaker. This is inconvenient because the speaker is inside a cabinet in my living room and it's hard to reach the back to turn it on and off.
Perfect size, perfect sound

Worth Every Penny
By Paulie from Green Bay, WI on 01/30/2009.
Pros: Easy To Connect, Powerful, Great Sound Quality
Best Uses: Home Theater
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
I thought my old system put out nice bass. I had two Pioneer 3-way speakers with 12" woofers that provided plenty of rumble. This little Yamaha blows them away! Don't be fooled by the "100 watt Dynamic Power", it is in truth a 50 watt sub. This is not a con as it performs as well as many true 100 watt subs. For the price, it can't be beat.

Holy Cow!!!!
By Marwin from Chicago, IL on 01/20/2008.
Best Uses: Basic Systems, Basement, Smaller Rooms
Pros: Powerful, Attractive Design, Compact, Easy To Connect, Great Sound Quality
Describe Yourself: Practical
Wow! I bought this subs thinking I will try them on my system and then return it. I am using a very old Sony reciever/amp that I bought back in 1991 and I am using the speaker level inputs. I was amazed when i first hooked them up and tried it for the first time. The bass is deep and tight on both movies and music and its just 1/4 on the power. If I heard this sub before I saw the price I would have not expected [$]price tag (on sale). The setup was very easy and opening the box was more difficult than hooking this baby up. All I can say is even if you have an expensive system give this sub a try..most likely you will keep it. So, needless to say I decided to keep this. Good product.
Good Money

[...] good solid product
EXCELLENT VALUE!!!!!!!
By Bob from Levittown, PA on 07/20/2007.
Describe Yourself: Audiophile
Pros: Easy To Connect, Compact, Great Sound Quality, Attractive Design, Powerful
Best Uses: Smaller Rooms
If you are looking to provide deep low frequencies to a Home Theater in a Smaller room, you simply can't beat the value. Obviously there are better subwoofers out there, but remember you are only paying [$] for a powered Sub that will more than deliver the sound quality the average home entertainment enthusiast requires. If you have a very large Great Room, or are spending over $20,000 for a home theater, than this one might not be for you. I highly recommend this product to anyone just looking for a good quality subwoofer at a more than reasonable price.
"Perfect fit for my needs"
By Jim the Inner DC Thse Dweller from Washington, DC on 06/29/2007.
Pros: Attractive Design, Great Sound Quality, Compact, Easy To Connect
Best Uses: Basic Systems, Smaller Rooms
Cons: Power Button Location
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy, Professional, Practical, Musically Inclined
This product met my needs very well; an attractive subwoofer from a well known and praised speaker vender for less than [$]...and by the way; it sounds great too! I just needed something to replace my Sony subwoofer, which just stopped working altogether after only about 2 years of service. I guess they just don't expect you to hang on to things longer than that anymore! The only complaint I have is that the power button location; which is on the back of the unit and is a bit difficult to locate.
Great!
By Jack the walker from Baltimore Maryland on 06/27/2007.
Pros: Great Sound Quality
Describe Yourself: Practical, Professional, Audiophile, Tech Savvy
Best Uses: Smaller Rooms
Not a bad product at all. Best price for what I needed last minute with a decent overall sound quality.
Excellent bang for the buck!
By The computer from Waukesha on 12/18/2006.
Pros: Great Sound Quality, Compact, Easy To Connect, Relatively inexpensive
Best Uses: Medium rooms, Smaller Rooms
Cons: No auto shut-off
This speaker was an excellent addition to supplement the bass in our system. It added oomph to our music and movies. Appropriate for 75% of the users. excellent value.
Powerful Toy
By Jacek from Sarasota, FL on 12/12/2006.
Best Uses: Basic Systems, Smaller Rooms
Pros: Compact, Easy To Connect, Attractive Design, Great Sound Quality, Powerful
There's only one think I don't like about this toy: location of the OFF/ON switch on the bottom at the back of it!!! Could be placed somewhere up front of the unit.
Great product at this price
By Din from Coppell, TX on 08/9/2006.
Pros: Great quality, Great Sound Quality, Powerful, Easy To Connect
Best Uses: Smaller Rooms, Basic Systems
Great value
