It will take some getting used to...

I'm not sure I'm going to keep this washer. I tried to wash a single, rather bulky wool sweater on cold/delicate, but it couldn't spin it because (I'm assuming) it didn't make a balanced load. Then I tried to wash a new cotton robe, and the same thing happened. If you throw more things in the load, it works fine. But I always use the delicate settings to do my sweaters, so I guess I'll be throwing clean towels in with them so I have a "load." Then I have to dry the extra items, and how energy-saving is that? My other beef is that the timer may SHOW 54 minutes, but it could actually take 75 minutes to do a load. It depends how much you put in. Since my washer is in the basement, I can't hear the buzzer, so I have to guess when the load is done, or just keep going down until it finally is done. It's bad enough that it takes so darn long. Other than that, for normal loads of clothes, it does seem to do a very nice job.

Normal wash cycle is estimated at 54 minutes. Even small/light loads take at least 65 minutes. Recently, my normal sized load of towels took 80 minutes - when i got to the basement at 75 minutes into the cycle, it said that there was 1 minute left. Five LONG minutes later, I stopped the darn thing and put the stuff (still REALLY wet) in the dryer.

I bought this unit and the matching dryer, and both have been fine. I suppose a larger capacity might be nice, but I don't need it and didn't see any reason to pay more. I didn't buy the pedestals, but the units are fine without them.On various websites, some people have complained about these appliances, but I've had no trouble, I have no vibration issues or noise. Yes, the primary wash cycle is long, almost an hour, but shorter cycles are easily selected. This is not problematic.[...]

[...] I bought pedestals to match and had to get rid of the pedestal for the washer. It was not sturdy enough to support the washer in the spin cycle. The washer would shake and move and was very noisy. When I put the washer back on the floor by itself it was fine. I would not recomend the pedestal option!

While looking for a stackable W/D, my Abt phone rep mentioned the Duet Sport. I did some online comparison shopping and found the W/D to be in the bottom quarter of all stackable pricing - and Abt was the most competitive. They both work amazingly well. They are extremely quiet and don't shake or move at all. And while the washer appears to have a small capacity, it's actually very large. Everything that fits in the washer easily fits in the dryer, which dries things extremely well. Both machines have great settings for manual and automatic use, and the washer has a 6 hour delay, so I can set the wash when I leave for work, and they won't have been sitting wet all day when I get home. I highly recommend both units.

Worth it to pay more for the next model up, in order to get more flexible wash cycles with same cleaning ability. Too bad that also means you have to pay for the more expensive dryer, as the 8300 dryer was fine.

everything comes out very clean, has done well with all items - even larger items. The spin cycle REALLY gets the water out more than any other washer I have used. The only downside is that our laundry room is located over crawl space (not on concrete floor) and we notice the vibrations from the spin cycle in the room next to the laundry room.

The washer is everything we hoped it would be. There is only one draw back regarding the washer, and that would really be with the detergent requirement. The washer does require the use of High Efficient (HE) laundry detergent. I was only able to find one brand at our store, but I really can't complain because the cloths comes out so clean, I don't have to try and find a different brand. We couldn't be happier with the purchase of this washer.
