I also purchased the chimney starter and followed the directions exactly. Wrong move for this little grill. The 2 sheets of newspaper caused some scary bursts of sparks every time there was a slight breeze. Didn't need as many coals as it recommended. The chimney starter was a waste...but the grill rocks!

This is the best grill for a single person/couple out there.

My husband is the grill enthusiant, or, according to him, grill master. To wit: "propane is for amateurs" . . .okayyyyyy. We had the Weber Smokey Joe grill for probably longer than any human being(s) should, ever, and, I felt it was time for an upgrade especially when my brother remarked. . ."'you guys still have that little grill?!'" I researched Weber grills and went with the 18.5 Gold--primarly because of the ash receptable and the fact that it's larger to accomodate our meat and vegetables simulatenously. Works good. It's 75% put together when you get it--I put the remainder together "solo" in about 30 minutes. My only reservation was and continues to be that there's nowhere to put the grill lid when you're removing food or want to cook with the lid off. A hinge/latch, something would have been nice. The lid goes on the grass or some other convenient but awkward location or spot. I was at first hesitant about buying it on-line, but the price was the same as the dept store[...]I bought from ABT. 1st time buyer from ABT[...]
