Installed in 2016. Would have given 5 stars if electrical connections were more accessible to installer (me). I extended wiring to a 4 x 4 junction box external to and above the inside of the range hood (prior to install). Working upside down, over the range, 10" up inside of a 5.5" wide slot to make connections was not an good option for me (although when circuit board failed-and was replaced under warranty-I was up in there). I have about 12' of 8" metal duct, an 8" muffler and 4 elbows and the smallest (600cfm) external blower. It is amazingly quiet. Tech suggested a straight short run up thru the roof would be noisier than my convoluted run thru my attic area. I find the airflow adequate (calcs say I should see about 460 CFM with all that piping). Maybe someday I will have to clean or replace piping due to grease, but I'll deal with that later. Right now I enjoy the slim look of the hood and the super quiet operation, and decent exhausting of most of the heat and smoke generated from my gas range. Halogen lamps reflect off of rear stainless trim so I installed some brown aluminum "tabs" back there to reduce glare. This also was one of the few hoods that met all my criteria (keeping the existing over-range cabinet while meeting code compliance for minimum distance from cooktop, and not sticking out when you don't need it.

Eventually the spice rack clip no longer supports the weight of the spices and it gives-way to let your spices crash all over your stove-top. The two spice racks each have a clip which will holds them in an upward position; or alternatively releasing the clip will allow the rack to extend into the downward position. This metal clip unfortunately is poorly designed and while the rack is in the upward position it will not hold the rack in place if much weight is placed on the rack. The clips especially give-way to weight after you've released them a number of times to clean the backsplash behind the racks. Regretfully, in my case the clips failed after the first year of ownership; and, the warranty for this product lasts for only one year. So, in short, my spice racks are useless and cannot hold spices because the racks will fail at any random moment and cause my spices to topple all over the stove-top and counters. I loved the product. But without the racks being functional I'm left with buyer's remorse. And, it's especially frustrating to see that most owners of this product are going to likely experience a similar outcome until they redesign the metal clip.

Fragile switch sliders & expensive to repair

By

from Undisclosed

Comments about Broan K260A 1200 CFM Interior Blower:

We inherited this range hood from the previous owner just 3 days ago. This is the third day we were trying to turn it on and it broke with no use of force! It is expensive and slow to repair - a local repair service said that they were going to take probably more than a week and they would charge for almost $245! Note that this is just a plastic piece. It seemed this is a common problem and the previous owners probably also dealt with, telling from the broken screws on the panel.

Awesome looks and powerful exhaust serve the purpose

By

Comments about Broan K260A 1200 CFM Interior Blower:

This is the Best range Hoods product that I never regret put in my kitchen. The one criteria I have always wanted is powerful exhaust that removes the cooking odor from my kitchen and house. The removable and washable baffle filter is the best part so I can wash the grease away everytime I cook. I am so happy with this product and every guest visiting me always ask why there is no cooking odor in your kitchen. I said the powerful exhaust is the key. Absolutely love this product. Highly recommended

The buttons are hard to reach for a shorter person. The remote is necessary and should be included.

PIK33-Switch assembly (for lights and venting) has broken three times....

By

from Huntington, NY, USA

Comments about Broan K260A 1200 CFM Interior Blower:

Terribly disappointed with this expensive range hood/vent. In the nine years since its installation the switch assembly (made of plastic) has broken three times. Each time it broke a new replacement piece was needed and required hiring a repairman each time. Would never buy another Broan product.

Great Accessory

Comments about Broan K260A 1200 CFM Interior Blower:

The shelves and backsplash are an excellent compliment to the hood. I use the heat lamps under the hood much more than I use our warming drawer. It's so convenient to set prepared food right above the stove. Regarding the quality issues that another review experienced: I've had this backsplash installed in my home for 9 years. I was just researching it for my next home (yes, I will be buying it again). I have not had any problems with the racks. I use one predominately in the downward position to hold a tea kettle. The second I leave up and it holds a spoon rack and a pair of S&P shakers. I adjust the both occasionally to clean and set food. I've had no issues with the clips or the design.

Terrrible design

By

from Virginia, USA

Comments about Broan K260A 1200 CFM Interior Blower:

It's the small things that matter - a light blew out in our unit - it proved impossible to replace - story too long to tell here -bottom line it is going to cost me $100 to get the light replaced by a service person. This is frustrating beyond belief - and by the way, I am quite handy, so that is not the issue - many others have made the same complaint.. I got the little rubber suction cup from Best but even that didn't help. How could anyone design something so poorly? It is a decent Range exhaust, but I wouldn't have another of this brand if you paid me.

Broke the unit every time I tried to change a light bulb!

By

from Beaverton, OR, USA

Comments about Broan K260A 1200 CFM Interior Blower:

Every time I have tried to change the light bulb I have managed to break the unit no matter how careful I am. Terrible design!! Impossible to get the burned out bulbs out!! Also the heat from the halogen bulbs overheated and destroyed the bulb housing. I suggest installing compatible LED lights and be done with it. Otherwise the fan unit works fine. I can't find on this website how to order replacement parts for the light housing and edge trim baffle. Very frustrated.

Impossible to change the light bulbs!

By

from NC

Comments about Broan K260A 1200 CFM Interior Blower:

It is impossible to change the light bulbs. They do not disengage when you "push up and turn counter clockwise".There is no room to grasp the bulb. I had to try and break the lightbulb to remove. I now have half a broken bulb that I still cannot get out and will be calling an electrician tomorrow. Really bad design.
