I have owned my KitchenAid stand-lift mixer since the early 80's, that's just about 30 years, and I love it! It included 3 beaters, the flat coated beater, the dough hook and the balloon whip. About 10 years ago the flat beater's vinyl coating began to crack but I didn't know how or where to get a replacement. Now I know how and where, but I would love to be able to get one that is stainless rather than the vinyl coat.

The beater works fine but I am getting ready to replace my 3rd one because the coating cracks and starts peeling off. Granted I've had the mixer about 13 years, but I would expect the beaters to last as long as the mixer. I'm getting the burnished one this time.

Coating Chipping Off

By

from Ann Arbor, MI

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

It works really well, but we're having the same problem as many others here that the coating is chipping off. I actually got online to try to order a replacement, but I'm hesitant if so many are having the same problem.

Coated Flat Beater Chips

By

from Alaska

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

I've been using KitchenAid stand mixers since I was a kid. My mom's 40-yo KitchenAid stand mixer (used frequently for 40 years) has the original 40-yo coated flat beater that has never chipped! I had a KitchenAid coated flat beater with a stand mixer (purchased approx year 2000) that never chipped. I sold it and purchased the Professional KitchenAid stand mixer. Then, I ordered the coated flat beater from the KitchenAid website. After a while, it started chipping. I'm very disappointed with the reduced quality.

mine didn't chip until.. try adjusting the beater's height?

By

from Cottage Grove, OR

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

I've used my coated flat beater, literally, for 36 years before it chipped. That's 36 years of constant use, several times a week, efficiently scraping the lower curves of the bowl. However, I've recently moved from San Diego to Oregon, and when I put by mixer back together, I didn't realize the height or tilt adjustment was off.. it was hitting the bottom. Eventually did chip. So, for those of you concerned about purchasing this attachment due to the other reviews.. perhaps double-checking the beater height (i.e., the mixer head tilt adjustment) before first use would preclude the chipping issue.

Chipping

By

from Folsom CA

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

Love my mixer, have had it for a couple years. Wish the beater lasted as long...bottom is chipped and I am afraid to use as the white "enamel" may end up in my food. Don't want to chip a tooth!

Not Good

By

from Lincoln NE

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

This is the 2nd one I have purchased for my kitchenaid and now this one is chipping. Makes me nervous to use when baking. Really wish I could get one that does not do this. I love my mixer but really want this fixed.

White Coating Flakes Off Over Time

By

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

I have had my mixer 11 years and have always hand washed all pieces but this one in particular is having an issue with the coating flaking off into food. Very disappointing.

Coating peels off on edges

By

from AZ

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

The edge of the coating is splitting and peeling off the blade. I can understand the coating wearing off the bottom of the beater, but splitting off the edge is a DEFECT. What Kitchenaid chat told me is I could buy a replacement part. NO WAY! It's garbage.

Stainless please!!!

By

from Reno, NV

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

I spent some time today picking paint chips out of my cookie dough. I went online to see if I could buy stainless and the closest thing I see is burnished aluminum. I don't buy or cook with anything aluminum, so that's a no-go. I don't see why it would be that hard to add as an option. Most people would pay the extra cost to avoid paint chips and aluminum in their cookies.

Dangerous - chips into batter

By

from Christchurch, New Zealand

Comments about KitchenAid Coated Flat Beater:

The machine itself is beautiful, this particular beater is awful. The white coating is chipping off. I didn't notice right away - having horror thoughts about the "crunchy" thing in the last cake I made. Was it eggshell.. or... this??? Anyway trying to find a replacement has been a real pain - lots of places that don't seem to ship to new zealand. Would really like to buy a stainless steel one but as far as I can work out those are only for other models, not the KS150. Its a shame because I need to buy another one of these inferior beater heads to keep using the overall great machine.
