The enamel coated mixing blade is what should come standard with a high-end mixer like the KitchenAid. It is non-reactive unlike the standard issue aluminum pieces. It does not discolor and is dishwasher safe.

I was dreading mixing icing today but now that the UPS man brought my new beater I won't have to use the hand mixer!!! I hope the coating lasts. I had the plain uncoated flat beater that came with the 6qt mixer and it got all funny cause my husband put it in the dishwasher. Just one trip in the dishwasher and it had funny dots all over it that didn't look good and wouldn't go away. I have a feeling that this coated one will last a whole lot longer and could survive the occasional trip into the dishwasher via my husband! :) Must be a genuine kitchenaid product...kitchaid box, kitchenaid attachment and accessories booklet and kitchenaid warranty slip inside. YEAAAAA!

So much better than the original non-coated burnished metal beater that came with the mixer. Bring the original to the recycling center and buy yourself a couple of these.

When buying this product, be sure to get the coated version because the non-coated will oxidize over time. The coated is much easier to clean too.

The original beater that came with this mixer discolored. I had to oil the beater each time I used it and then wipe the oil off or it would discolor my dough with black streaks. This coated beater eliminates this problem and is easier to clean as well.

Get rid of the old beater and buy this new coated beater. Works great! You will wonder why you didn't buy one sooner! ABT had the best prices and service for this attachment. What are you waiting for?
