Great grinder...not as noisy as our previous one. Hopper is rather small and ours came chipped. Had to call Kitchenaid for a replacement...which was shipped without problem. Only thing to watch is that the grind selector sometimes moves a little while grinding...so watch it.

This grinder is by far the best I have ever used. Grinds quickly, with good consistency.
Sometimes the beans stick and you have to jiggle them a bit to get them to feed into the grinder.
This thing is built like a tank.
This is a solid well build machine.

Have had trouble with other burr grinders so decided to go with a more substantial model. So far very good. A down side is that grinds fall from the grind head after the jar is removed and you have to clean each time.

It grinds consistently and evenly. It's a lot quieter than other coffee grinders we know about. Glass, not plastic, receptacles are nice -- no sticking and will be easier to keep clean and un-scratched. And its retro-style good looks are attractive.
So if you can afford it, go for it!

I was tired of drip coffee, but found out the hard way that going for an expensive solution was no real solution. After going through a debacle with a "superautomatic" espresso machine that had to be returned [...] (I always live to regret it when I don't buy from a reputable outfit l[...]), I decided to go for simplicity. So, I bought this grinder along with a Breville electric teakettle (my second Breville...the first was for my office waiting room...another excellent purchase) and a Friedling french press. I now have a little section of counter space dedicated to coffee making, & these 3 items were a fraction of the cost of the failed superautomatic, will outlast any of those $1000-$2000 pieces of plastic, and look a hell of a lot more attractive while doing so too.
This grinder works great & is really easy to use. I'm so glad I didn't buy another one of those Capresso contraptions that always disappoint because they are such a pain to use. Besides it's stellar good looks, the best thing about this grinder is that there is NO MESS; this is the first grinder I've owned that you don't have to clean up after. [...]
I christened my "coffee shrine" with several varieties of coffee from Peet's & have been living in caffeinated heaven ever since.

Stylish, Large Hopper, Consistent Grind, Easy To Use |
We had a Cuisinart Burr Grill and found that product to be not very reliable - broke down several times and one really cannot take that unit apart and repair it yourself. The Kitchenaid Pro is much more sturdy and one can essentially take most of the working parts apart and adjust, clean or repair them. The grind is very consistent and the use of glass containers eliminates static "cling" of the coffee.

I've been using a blade type coffee grinder for years, and never seemed to get the grind right. When I read about the Kitchenaid I decided to try it, even though it was expensive. Well, it was worth every penny. It is extremely easy to use, very versatile, and always grinds consistently. The true proof of its effectiveness is in the taste of the coffee, which has never been better.
