Onkyo Stereo Receiver, Model TX8522

In the fast-paced world of home entertainment technology, change has become an understated word. If your receiver lacks the fundamental amplifier design from the power supply through to the output stage, everything else is superfluous. The TX8522 is built with this in mind. Incorporating Onkyo’s proprietary Wide Range Amplifier Design (WRAT) with an isolated power transformer and discrete output stage, the TX8522 is focused on maintaining the purity of music, radio and video sources. Also, with the option to take up XM® Satellite Radio or to connect your iPod® to the system, the TX8522 gives you the versatility for a sweeping range of entertainment options.

Just what I was looking for

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I replaced an old Marantz workhorse that finally went kaput. I wasn't sure anyone still made a good quality stereo receiver without all the home theater bells and whistles. This Onkyo delivers exactly what it promisesgreat stereo sound. This baby has the power to make my big 100w Cerwin-Vega floor speakers deliver clear, room-filling sound. The only thing I miss is the "Loudness" option, but the bass and treble controls are pretty efficient. My iPod dock (which must be purchased separately) works well. I am very pleased. Glad I found this one!

I have 3 of these receivers running in our office now and they have worked perfectly. They have excellent power to drive our ceiling speakers with great sound. Controls are very easy to use and plenty of input/output options.

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I needed a music source for the home gym so I moved the old Sony to that location and purchased the Onkyo TX-8522 to use with the whole-house audio system. What a great decision! The sound from the Onkyo is far superb than the Sony. One could easily think that there are new speakers throughout the house. The controls are simple and the setup was easy. I added the XM mini-tuner to the XM-Ready port for great XM sound. The Onkyo quality is excellent.

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I needed a powerful stereo receiver/tuner/amplifier to drive a few 4ohm monitor speakers in my game room. This product has the ability to change the speaker setting between 6ohm (recommended for 4ohm speakers) and 8ohm, however, the setting is not independent of A and B speakers, so they are either both set at 6 or both set at 8, small issue. Other than that, the unit puts out enough power to drive my loudspeakers.
