Very smooth and quiet unit. Replaced a Disposall .33hp unit and couldn't be happier. Install was straight forward but not necessarily easy (I've done it before) with only minimal cussing...mostly due to awkwardness of working under the sink. I definitely recommend this unit for price and operation. Hint: use a small hydraulic jack and wood blocks to lift the disposal into position under the sink drain to make attaching it much easier.

Eazy to install and just like the Kenmore product. Recommend search for good prices. This was the best I could find.

Installation was a breeze, with the hardest aspect mounting the disposal to the mounting ring. Product has worked great so far, which has only been a couple of weeks.

This product has been perfect for us.

I have an average size kitchen and a family of 4. This disposal is better than the one that I put in about 7 years ago. It is quieter and seems to have more power (even though both are the same hp). Unless you are wanting to put a lot of items and/or large items into it I would say this one will work just fine.

This is a great disposal for the price. It was easy to install and is very quiet compared to my old badger disposal.

Replaced my old garbage disposal with this one. I had ruined my old one by putting 2 bags worth of key lime rinds down it all at the same time, tuning it off when it began to smoke. It still worked, but was very loud and the entire sink shook when using it. What a pleasure to have this new quiet disposal. My handyman installed it without any problem. LOVE IT!

The product was very easy to install. Neither me nor my husband are "handy" at all, but we decided to give it a try, and it was super easy.

Just seems to be working great. Read lots of reviews that spoke to the ease of installation and found that to be very true. If you're experienced at all, you're probably looking at 30-60 minutes total - certainly so, if replacing a previous unit and able to reuse the drain collar.

I purchased the exact Kitchenaid Disposal unit that failed...it lasted six years. I installed the new unit myself with no problems...directions are complete and easy to follow.

As an older house owner amps of any appliance is important. This smaller unit supplies more than enough power and performance for any ordinary kitchen. Highly recommend.

perfect replacement

The KCDB250 KitchenAid was easy to install, worked as expected, and a good replacement for the old disposal. The only issue is that it is a little noisy...but no noiser that the one I replaced. I'm happy with my selection.

I have the 1994 version of this garbage disposal. After replacing it, I don't even think it was worn out but I had a short in my electrical system. When i replaced this unit, it has a little less horsepower, but I can tell no difference with what I can accomplish with it. This version has some plastic external parts now which I think is better in a potentially wet environment. Also, it is much quieter than the previous model.Order from this company Abt.[...]

This should be labeled Whirlpool. Even the warranty card has Whirlpool on it. A 1/2 HP model was selling for about 15 to 20 percent more in the big box stores, so this item offered lots of value for the money. Was easy to install and the written instructions were clearly written, can you believe that. Grinds up chicken bones with no problems. Wouldn't want to try anything bigger that that. I would purchase again.

You can't get better than KitchenAid. Garbage disposal went right in. Quiet, powerful. Grinds up potato peels and leaves nothing behind.

Purchased because of low [$] cost. Its "name brand" was important to me because its been installed in a house being fixed up to sell. Easy installation and surprisingly quiet given that it lacks the large sound enclosure that more expensive models have.Home Depot sells a 3' power cord for around $5, if you don't want to use the one from your old disposal.

Love my new garbage disposal - I installed it myself it was a little tricky - but we figured it out and it works great!

Seems to be a general purpose disposal, although the horsepower and warranty are disappointing. But you get what you pay for. This model looks exactly like the Insinkerator that I was trying to avoid, even though it has the Kitchenaid label on it. I think Kitchenaid buys from them and attaches their logo. The last two Insinkerators I had developed leaks after about two years.

Im in a single family home with twin daughters. This became a necessity as there never was one installed in the kitchen It's reliable, easy to use and relatively quiet. Id recommend it to anyone in the market.

I use this product on an everyday basis. It performs wonderful. We had the same unit and it finally quit after 26 years of use. That is why we bought the same model and it work great.

Installed after removing a Badger unit. Matched up almost perfectly. In fact, I used the old mounting hardware to make it even quicker. Note: if you have an older home, you may want to have a sink trap kit on hand as mine collapsed 30 seconds into trying to remove the old unit. And you MAY be able to use the power cord from your old unit, as this unit does not supply one.

I bought this disposal after several web sights gave it high ratings at a reasonable price and being easy to install. This attracted me since I am a single mom on a limited budget. The product arrived very quickly and I am proud to say that my daughter and I installed it ourselves without any major problems. It runs more quietly than our previous disposal and works great. I am thrilled with the product and proud we were able to do it ourselves!

The garbage disposal works great!!!

If you go to the local store you might pay 100 plus tax for a unit with the same power. This one mounted the same as the other one I had, so I had no need to put on the drain bracket. All I had to do was take the power cord from the old one and swap it to the new one. I locked it in and put the drain pipe back on and I was done. I think I spent 15 mins on it. Im telling you all this because it may encourage you to try doing the installation your self. I saved so much money doing it myself.

Works better than the Kenmore I replaced. Pretty quiet, overall good value. Too early to tell how durable it is, but my family is pretty tough on it so we will soon see.

Works well but is slightly louder than the In Sink Erator I had for ten years. The galvanized ring visible in the sink looks dull, compared to the stainless steel basin. It does the job without any problems, but I should have spent more and bought higher quality, I.E. stainless.

The disposal was easy to install. Had the same model previously. It lasted 10 years before replacing due to failure of shaft seal. This is the lower power model and does fine with light loads of garbage. Residential garbage disposals should not generally be used for large amounts of garbage because of the high cost to wastewater treatment plants for treatment of the garbage.

I use it for grinding normal kitchen garbage - duh. Runs smoothly and quietly when empty and grinds quickly so the normal grinding noise ceases quickly. The included mounting bracket was OK but was just a stamped out product so it didn't have smooth thin edges. I used the old mounting bracket already installed for that reason and the new Kitchen Aid attached perfectly saving time and labor.

For a small kitchen it is a great tool to have. We have had it for a bout a month now and it is working fine. Great value for the price.

I am very happy with the unit. Installation was straightforward. Universal-type adapter even allowed me to reuse the drain basket assembly from the old Kenmore unit. Couldn't have been simpler! All you could ask for from a unit in this price range.

I'm always skeptical of "easy to install" claims but this one was truly easy. It went in without a hitch. Only took two trips to the hardware store for correct length drain line and plumbers putty. Whole process took alittle over an hour but I'm a putz. Can highly recommend it. The waste gets ground up quickly and quietly and I have scored major points with my wife.

I bought this for our newly remodeled kitchen. Our sink is in an island and I wanted a quiet compact disposal. Every review I read was positive. It was very easy to install and hook up to the dishwasher next to it was a breeze. My only complaint is that I had to buy a cord as I needed to plug it into a GFCI switch controlled outlet.

This was my first garbage disposer install and it was incredibly easy! It fit great and the instuctions were straightforward. Abt had an unbeatable deal on this and KitchenAid makes solid products. It's not very noisy, and works quite well. I'm hoping it will last a while!

Bought this product to replace a 14 year old Kitchenaid 1/2 hp disposal. Fit was perfect, as I didn't have to change anything in the sink to install the new unit. The mounting collar was identical to the previous unit. Installation instructions were easy to follow - I completed the install in about 20 minutes start to finish. The unit is fairly quiet (even more so than previous unit) and has more than enough power for everyday use.

I bought this item from Rafael Pena in July 29 2006. Up to now I have had a good run time on the unit and can give it a 5 star rating. It is a KCDI250 Kitchen aid disposal. The stainless construction sure is a big PLUS. I expect it to outlive me. ed, portland, TX cust code D000411997. As of now I have an order in for a vcr/dvd combo and did find the best price in comparison to compeditors. I will recomend abt to all.

We had an old, but good quality InSinkerator that had worn out in the expected lifetime. This new unit was substantially more compact than the old unit at the same horsepower rating. It fit into the standard mount that was in the sink that had apparently been installed with the previous unit. The installation instructions were complete as far as I needed them to be for a replacement install and well illustrated and understandable. The unit is as quiet and powerful as I would expect it to be. Will not know about durability for 5 to 10 years I hope. The unit is attractive if you enjoy showing off your handiwork. The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because it is too early to judge durability which is the most important factor, and that the "feel" of the unit was of less "quality" that the unit it replaced.

I never had a GD, but my wife requested one. She loves it. Keeps her sink nice and clean without a lot of fuss. She is a homemaker, and uses it frequently. It was easy to install (once the old basket was removed). She has a KitchenAid Mixer that is about 25 years old and we have learned to trust the KitchenAid brand as quality products, so far we havent been let down.

great product, replaced a similar garbage disposal....works as expected.

I replaced a 6-yr old Insinkerator that had rusted a bit inside - once in a while a rust piece would break loose and make an awful noise. I am hoping that this disposal lasts longer and will not corrode inside. The outer construction is the same as the Insinkerator so it was easy to take out the old and put in this one. Was able to get the disposal switched out/installed in about an hour (not counting the time to go out and buy and install the new faucet itself! PS If you have ideas of replacing your faucet, this is the time to do it when you can get to all of the lines without the disposal in the way! Have your new faucet ready - also be sure to pick up plumber putty.

Was a replacement for an existing unit and was installed with no problems in a very limited under sink area.

The disposal was easy to install. All necessary fittings were included to make it simple to attach to existing connections. I was impressed that the instructions also included how to remove the old disposal. The unit has plenty of power to chew what ever is thrown at (down) it.

This unit replaces a noisy Badger 5 unit that came with my new house. Quieter than the Badger 5 unit, but since it is mounted in a Kohler stainless steel sink, there is still some vibration when running.

It is fairly quiet yet works quickly and efficiently. I have not yet had anything clog it like my old one which could not take cucumber, potato or carrot peels!

Easy to install. Not the quietest but not bad. Very pleased for the money. Not enough experience with this disposal to comment on durability or ease of clearing clogs. Seems to have enough power to get the job done.

This disposer is pretty much the same as anything else with 1/2 hp. I bought it because it was the cheapest 1/2 hp I could find. It works fine, and being red it actually looks good under my sink. Then again, I just remodeled my entire kitchen and everyhting looks good in there now... ;) ps- like most other installed kitchen appliances, this one does not come with a cord. If you are replacing an older unit you can likely take the cord off that one, but if not you'll have to get one at a hardware store.

I was confused about how to hook up the power cord until the unit came in. I just unhooked the cord from my old unit and wired it into the new one--it's just like installing a light fixture at that point. Easy...

I purchased this disposal to replace a Kenmore one that was less than 3 years old. The price I paid for the KitchenAid was about the same as the Kenmore three years ago. The installer was impressed with the durability of the unit, its efficiency and the ease of installation. He indicated that this product was excellent and a much better product than the one I was replacing. He was extremely impressed when I informed him of the purchase price. I priced ones with similiar speed and capacity at the big box retailer, they were all more expensive but could not compare with the quality of this KitchenAid unit. It is not the quietest unit but I am extremely pleased with its quality.

Replaced a worn out Whirlaway that was noisy and slow. This unit is 10X better capacity, easier to feed and quiet. Very satisfied. Great Value

My plumber installed this garbage disposal in our remodel, so I can't speak to ease of installation. With everything else being top of the line in the kitchen, I should have gone for a more powerful and quieter garbage disposal. This 1/2 horsepower unit doesn't claim to be quiet, and it isn't. I've been in some houses where the garbage disposal just hums rather than grates; this isn't one of them. Besides the noise, however, I have no complaints. The price was amazing and it's Kitchenaid, so I expect it to last.

This is the item you want to replace your garbage disposal. The ease of installation was a surprise. It took less than 20 minutes to remove and install the new disposal.

Probably the clearest instructions of any product I ever bought

Great disposal, very powerful, pretty quiet, perfect fit. Very happy with the price!getting the old one out took a little time since i've never done it before and the connection from the drain to the disposal was different so i had to run to [...] and get a new pipe, but it was only[$]small price to pay to have a great disposal!

We have 4 kids and use our garbage disposal 5 out of seven days a week. If it will go down the opening, we'll try and grind it up! Lemon and lime halves, orange peels, potatoes, avocado skins, boiled chicken carcasses. . . . I don't care. Our last disposal was a Badger 5 (Insinkerator) 5/8 hp. It lasted ten years before the cast drain chamber rotted through enough to begin leaking. For that reason I was not inclined to go to a smaller, 1/2 hp Kitchen Aid. Sure, I own one of their mixers, but who'd ever heard of a Kitchen Aid garbage disposal? Long story short, I am 100% satisfied. As it turns out, this garbage disposal has to be made for Kitchen Aid by Insinkerator. The only thing that didn't exactly match the disposal I removed was the color, and its smaller overall size. Other than this, it is a duplicate of the Badger. Much quieter than the old unit I removed. Some lament that the water backs up. That's just because the rubber splash guard is so good. It acts kind of like a stopper. If you want the water to run down faster, rip out the rubber guard and let the food splash all over. Other than that, the sink inlet and drain outlet were the same diameter as my old Badger/Insinkerator.I'm very obsessive on purchases. If I have any doubt that I will be satisfied I don't buy it, or over buy just so I'm not disappointed. Unfortunately, I have a cheap streak too. This disposal was a compromise. The sole reason I bought it was the price.[$] Even though it's a 1/2 hp, I'm not doing anything different, and it's not dragging down. No dish rags down there yet, but its already eaten a fork, and a pair of chopsticks. For the price, it can't be beat. I expected to be disapointed, and instead was pleasantly surprised. There's a first time for everything. If it doubled as a wood chipper, it'd get five stars.

I almost lost my mind trying to figure out what I did wrong on the first install. I turned out that there was something wrong with the original motor.I went into Abt and exchanged the first one [...]. The second disposer immediately worked and has for three weeks so far.Good value.

only came with a 90 degree elbow and I needed a straight drain pipe. Other than that, perfect. It is almost exactly like the badger 1 it replaced.

One of the main reasons I purchased this disposer: it installs without removing and replacing the sink flange, IF you have a similar disposer already installed. It turns out that my old Emerson disposer appears to be exactly the same model as this KitchenAid, so installation was a breeze. If this one lasts as long as the old one (12+ years), I'll be happy. It's not as quiet as some of the elite models, but it's reasonably quiet and great for the money. Overall - a very good choice.

This disposal has it all over the Kenmore disposals i had before. Even though it's less HP (1/2 vs. 3/4 for the Kenmore), it handles items (including very fibrous veggies) that overwhelmend the Kenmore and it is definitely quiet. It can't be beat for the low price I paid. Abt was outstanding in every way.

This is so much more quiet and doesn't take as much space as our old garbage disposal which was here when we purchased the house in 1996. We'v had it for 3 weeks. I hope this one lasts as long as the first one (that is 13 years + however long it was here before we bought the house --it was not new). We do not put meat, bones or fruit pits down our disposal, so perhaps we do not tax our appliance, but this one works as well as the old one using less horsepower. We are happy with it and did not expect such a fine product for the price. The only reason i did not list 5 stars is because i can not comment on its durability.

I installed this unit in a double-sink situation where there was not previously a disposer. A couple of PVC cuts, a new elbow and trap adapter, PVC cement and the installation was complete in less than an hour. In our limited use so far the disposer works great.

I shopped around and was pleased to find this 1/2 hp GE disposal available at ABT. Amazingly, this disposal came in at a price point right down there with the 'no name' made in china disposals, and yet is very solid, nice looking, quiet, easy to install - just what you'd expect from GE. I was on my way to pick up a third 'badger' unit from the big box stores, third in 10 years! A much less powerful 1/3 hp unit, at a much higher price, and obviously they do not last long. I am very pleased that I stepped back and looked around.

I have only had the product for a few weeks but I am very happy with the fast and queit clean up.

For the price, this little disposal is a great value. It's easy to install, and I didn't need any additional parts from the hardware store - I was able to reuse the hardware from the old disposal. Total install took about 45 minutes. Since I've only been using it for a couple weeks, I can't express an opinion on the durability. It's not particularly quiet, but it's not noisy, either - just depends on what you're shoving down it =) It's got enough power for our small-to-moderate sized kitchen, and does the job nicely! I'm very glad I was able to stumble upon this deal!!

Replaced one of the same model. Made it a breeze to install. Old one was about 14 years old.

Installed this disposal myself. Thought was very easy with instructions provided. My home was prewired for a disposal so made install easier. This diposal is powerful for the price. Not the quietest but also not the noisest diposal Ive ever heard. I feel this is a great item and would recommend it especially at the price purchased for[$].

This is a great disposal. It's not quite as quiet as I'd hoped, but it's much better than my old one, and it gets the job done well!

I have had nothing but a good experience with this disposal and I'm happy I bought it. BUT, the instructions were not particularly user-friendly, especially considering there were two black rubber circles among the contents that the instructions made no mention of at all! I got done installing the disposal and freaked out because those two things were left over, but after frantically re-reading the installation instructions I realized they didn't say WHAT to do with them. Weird... Plus, it was a bit of a chore to install, and you will probably need a second person to assist you. (I'm definitely NOT a handyman, though.)

This was a replacement for a 13yr old original.
