This dishwasher looks very nice, but does a very poor job of actually washing dishes. After every load I find myself rinsing many of the plates and bowls, as well as silverware. They clean off quite easily by hand which makes me think that this washer doesn't have a very powerful rinse cycle (in fact, this replaced a 25 year old dishwasher which actually did a much better job, sadly). I now have to pre-wash every plate before putting it in, which is a real pain and kind of defeats the purpose of having a dishwasher. Some food also gets caked on the inside of the door after each load. In addition, the quality of the roll-out tray on the bottom is very cheap and poorly designed. The spacers for plates are too far apart and a cross bar blocks the bottom, so every time I roll it in, all the plates bang into each other. I have standard dinner plates, and have never seen this on another dishwasher - unfortunately it looks like GE just took the cheapest path without actually testing the design. I've only had this dishwasher installed for about 6 weeks but have serious buyers remorse.

Love this washer!
Comments about GE 24" Stainless Steel Tall Tub Built-In Dishwasher:
After my previous washer of 14 years died, I was excited to get a new one. I didn't expect to love it so quickly!

I bought this about 6 months ago and would return it if it was possible!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
It looks good from outside. Performance can be better.
I liked the way it blends with the other appliances. I have all stainless steel appliances in my kitchen. All from GE. The dishwasher is small inside and I can not put lots of dishes in it. The features are limited and drying the dishes needs improvement.
Quiet, good cleaning, but wet silverware.

I've used this dishwasher for one month. I like that it's quiet and cleans well but I really dislike the wet silverware. I've never had a dishwasher that left the silverware dripping. Must be because the baskets are in the front of the dishwasher rather than on the sides. If there had been a beta test, it would have failed with this feature. We bought our condo after they had had a fire and remodeled and new GE appliances installed. We don't know where they bought them. (refrigerator, range and microwave and dishwasher.
Beautiful, quiet and works well.

Cleans dried-on foods well, very quiet. No problems with slow drying, but I do use Jet-Dry. Looks great in my kitchen and I love the hidden controls.
Design is so wrong

To start with, this dishwasher is too small. There is no way you can fit an average skillet into it. I'm finding that I'm running it every day because there's barely enough room for one meals dishes. The racks are such that the plates lean forward and they don't get as clean. That is one of my biggest complaints. The racks aren't condusive to allowing a skillet into the bottom rack. The pots and pans cycle takes over 2 1/2 hours to complete, even though there's not many dishes in it. It doesn't grind the food down, and I've had to clean the drain out at least 3 times in 3 months. The water will not drain, and then I know it's time to clean it again. Please don't buy this model. Since I have an older house that only has 35" between the floor and the counter top, I was told that this was the only one that would fit. Never again.

I didn't know it was on and was shocked with its great results on tough foods.
Does not dry as well as other GE dishwashers. Constantly need a towel to finish the job. Cleans great.

The first few times I ran the dishwasher, it ran the whole cycle, and when I opened it afterwards, the soap was all over the door. I had to run the dishwasher several times before it worked I finally called a repairman. He came out and said that it was how we were loading the dishwasher. If you put silverware in some of the silverware holders, it blocks the soap opener. It seems that this is a design flaw. I wasted lots of water and energy and still have to second guess how I am loading the dishwasher.
Replacement for former GE Dishwasher
So far it has been great. Gets the dishes clean and does pretty well with the drying if you let the dishes sit. Its a little long running in the cycles, but VERY quiet. I have not noticed any of the leaking or condensation issues notes by others, and the package is very slick, the top controls are nice, and the inside is larger than it looks, and has a lot of different areas for utensils etc. So far it has held all of my larger items with no problem. I got this dishwasher at a pretty good price, so am very happy with the quality and performance.
